If you are 13 games without a win (including cup match) and you are bottom and you then you can't win against the team in 2nd bottom who is it you are actually going to beat? We have Dundee Utd at home afterwards which I think we have a reasonable chance in (depending on result on Wednesday) but after that we have four away games, including Celtic and Hibs, and our only home match is against Hamilton who seem to find it pretty easy to get points on our ground. My fear is if we don't win on Wednesday night or on Saturday our confidence just nose dives going into a tough fixture list. By the end of Feb the dye may well have been cast. We can't go 19 games without a win and expect to stay up. Realistically you are looking at 40 points to avoid the play off. We've got 19 points from 66. We now need 21 points from 45 points. That's a big step up in performance. Time is running out rapidly. In my opinion we need to win against County. We need to win for ourselves but we also have to take 3 points off a rival.7 points

Exactly...I'm 40 this year and have zero recollection of the club being anything other than a top level side, and have absolutely no desire to see us at a lower level... ...despite never seeing us being out of the top division, I've lost count of the amount of seasons where the doom-mongerers and surrender-monkeys within our support, have trotted out the 'this is our year', 'this is the worst ever team' pishy lines...its almost like they cannae wait to pounce. I'm not a happy clapper, this season has been rank rotten but we have been extremely unlucky in many games, either not getting the rub of the green and referees making absolutely incredible decisions against us. We have strengthened so far in the window as I doubt even the biggest tadger on here could suggest that Kelly isn't better than Chapman and that Lawless isnt an upgrade on Seedorf...yes we are on a hellish run of 14 without a win, but there are literally posters writing off our next 5 ffs. There are still a shitload of points to play for, we have a new manager in place and it's not like we are in anyway cut adrift at the bottom. The negativity is nauseating and it is also completely out of balance considering what is still to be played for.6 points

Imagine looking at our league position, players, stats, form, results and thinking concerned fans are the problem.4 points

If you find the negativity nauseating, I find some of the positivity perplexing. I'll go down the road of realism and see where that leads. I'm 52. The last time we were relegated from the Premier I was 16. That's a truly phenomenal record we should be proud of, conveniently forgetting the 2 get out of jail cards. The odds would tell us it'll come again, but I'm hopeful we can keep defying them for a while longer. When teams do go down it's not just because they're shit. Injuries, poor refereeing decisions and general bad luck all play their part. This season's turning into a cluster **** of all those things. We've lost a manager more than halfway through the season (another relegation prerequisite) and his parting shot is, there are players in this squad who don't want to be here. If he's right, these are some of the guys we're relying on to save us. All in all, I don't think it's unreasonable to be worried at this stage. A win tomorrow would go a long, long way to lifting everyone's expectations. But this season - specifically this season - laying any blame for our predicament at the fans door is like blaming Sportscene viewers for Celtic's collapse.3 points

I don't think the team would be too effective in the trenches, we're lucky if we get one shot away every 90 minutes.2 points

Totally agree. Mods need to have a long hard look at themselves. Personally I hadn't posted in the thread for a while but the topic is still absolutely relevant to this season and what's happening. If individuals are going too far in the thread deal with them separately. The official club media outlets can act as Motherwell Pravda. We don't need it here.2 points

If you don't think the topic is worthy of discussion then you have the choice not to post in the thread. Others clearly do and for obvious reasons I think Robinson's tenure is still very relevant.. Your comparison to threads about managers who've not been at the club for years is hardly fair. My point is mods shouldn't be touching threads unless they have broken forum rules. Let the members decide what's worthy of discussion. and if they are not threads will naturally fall down the board and disappear. The forum us hardly bustling with traffic. Culling popular topics because you might not agree with them seems like a strange decision.2 points

Knickers wringing all over the place...wouldn't have fancied being in the trenches with any of the shitebags on here1 point

Either way, the red card was a joke. Not a cat in hells chance an old firm player would’ve seen red for that. Just a jumped up ref looking to be the centre of attention.1 point

For quite a few years the club have always offered injured players contracts until they finish their rehab. I think it's an unofficial policy to offer that security to make the club more attractive to new signings. I imagine the new contracts in those circumstances will be next to nothing - enough for the player to pay the bills until they know what the future holds for them. Imagine coming to the end of your contract with no possibility of finding another club, no access to rehab facilities and no income. What we do is great for the player and good for the reputation of the club - I've no problem if Dunne is offered another contract.1 point

I agree. At the moment our wingers are a waste of a shirt with none of them able to keep hold of the ball. It’s time to pack the midfield, go 2 up front and fight for your life.1 point

I would rather the club just announce signings when they are completed, rumours don’t particularly help the club. We have to just have faith in the new managers judgement and he feels there is plenty of quality still in the squad.1 point

I dont think you're far off. But id rather see watt in a more central attacking role behind the front1/2 à la turnbull..i dont think cole has done much wrong to b replaced by long but is he maybe too similar to smith n would it work..time will tell..good thing is we have a few options up front,we just need too create chances for them1 point

No, but a lot of us have endured seasons worse than this (including 2 actual relegations, one relegation avoided by reconstruction, one relegation avoided by Falkirk's lack of seating and 3 years in the First Division). We've also seen seasons where we struggled for 2 or 3 months, but did enough to turn things around. This team doesn't even rank in my worst top 10.1 point

That was a special night. Celtic needed a draw to win the league. We beat them 3-0 with a spectacular double from Lynch.1 point

Whilst I agree to an extent. If we had been given the penalty it could have been 1-1 which makes it a different game and maybe Polworth doesnt let his frustrations get the better of him? Similarly the goal we had chalked off for the ball being apparently out of play. Aberdeen didnt have a perfectly good goal chalked off. There is a clear push on Cole to stop him getting a jump on it before their player heads it into the net. It is a clear foul, correctly given. I dont blame the ref for us losing as we can always do better to cope with these situations, but he did have an impact on the outcome of the game....1 point

Got to love this site....or not. We sign a new player that is relatively unknown. Immediately he is uninspiring or just plain sh1te. We get a decent left back on an extended contract. Underwhelming...has done nothing to impress me. F*ck me. I am glad I don’t come on this site to be cheered up. There is a high % of posters that are just miserable all the time. Time for a sabbatical from this site. I cannot say I will miss it.1 point
