Not sure why a professional football player being switched on in the right place at the right time is "dumb luck". That's literally what they train to do. It was Gary Lineker that said "It's not about being in the right place at the right time. It's about being in the right place all the time".

Scott has been unlucky with injuries at Hull. He has all the tools to make it at Scottish Premier or English Championship level. Need to bear in mind the lad is still only 20. I think people forget his age because he was 17 when he made his debut...

I think the club’s social media dept to go a bit overboard with some of the things they put out, ie. “a coffee and a chat with x,y,z” but I don’t see anything wrong with this from Alan Burrows re-tweet. It’s all fair enough and nowhere near the dismal self defeating guff about “oor great wee team” and the likes that many on here, Twitter and to be honest Burrows himself has been guilty of on many occasion. The words describing our standing in the game are more or less accurate. I think it’s important and I’m glad that the club do reach out to the community nowadays, it’s something I always felt we didn’t do enough of in the past. The town of Motherwell and a lot of North Lanarkshire has been badly hit by unemployment, poverty and even more sadly, suicide in young people over the past few years and if the club can show its support to that then I’m all for it.

Back then we'd get probably about 5,500 for an 'average' game, maybe 7,000 ish for bigger teams like Aberdeen and Hearts and over 10,000 for OF matches although Rangers nearly always brought a bigger crowd than Celtic. Just taking a quick look the famous 1-0 win v Celtic in the Scottish Cup when it was blowing a gale and Tommy Coyne scored the winning header had an attendance of 14,061.

On the back of an article posted in the i newspaper titled: "Motherwell and their free season tickets: A community club like no other", Alan Burrows has taken to twitter to post the following: "Motherwell cannot promise to compete for trophies every season, to break Scottish football’s duopoly or to make extravagant signings; nor do they wish to. They cannot ever be a replacement for lost income and lost opportunity.... "But if Fir Park can be a sanctuary, an inclusive enclave for every person in the town who wishes to depend on them, they will have done their job" Whilst I fully appreciate that these words were not written by Burrows, his re-tweeting is an endorsement of the sentiment and quite frankly, it is fucking dreadful. I, like many on here contributed to the low income season ticket scheme - it's an excellent initiative and should be celebrated; together with many of the actions by the club. However, I, like many on here, also contribute to the well society. To be completely transparent, I have never seen the money leave my account every month and thought, how great, we will feed an under privileged family in North Lanarkshire, I have more thought, as I'm sure many have - I hope that it funds youth development and bringing through the next batch of talent for us to enjoy in claret and amber. I am ever more aware that under the tone of social media output and the sentimentality surrounding it and now with this latest twitter statement that we seem to have changed our mission statement as a club - we no longer seem to want to compete but are rather acting as a community centre. I also regularly donate to food banks in the area (which should not exist, however 55% voted no, so they still do) but that is separate from football and football club exists for a reason - to compete, challenge and win trophies. We have gone through a barren 30 years whereby those around us have won honours (and been relegated) and that is part of football. We have begun a season after seeing numerous talents leave the club over the past 12/18 months - bringing in high revenue - yet as a product, we have an under developed squad which shows little sign of competing for anything again this season other than trying to avoid the playoffs. We, as a club, are in danger of disappearing up our own arse in a sea of "great wee club" feelings. Motherwell football should exist to improve peoples lives, but not as a community outreach program, but rather as a competitive side that carries its own weight as the 8th largest club in the country. Success on the pitch must be the ultimate and sole aim for any football, us included. Community outreach is important and part of the fan ownership model however the tone of utter resignation which Burrows has retweeted and the apathy it projects is utterly appalling for any supporter to hear and better yet, contribute more. Investment in our area must start with investment on the pitch, which we are not seeing, breeding success and a desire for people to want to attend matches and form a bond with the club. Free season tickets or not, struggling sides are unattractive for supporters and sponsors alike. I am proud of what we do as a club but success on the field is absolutely primary and a CEO who isn't constantly driving that message is unmistakably in the wrong role.

People saying would have been a meltdown if Livi scored at end after bringing on all the defenders . Trust me would have been a bigger meltdown if brought on KVV and Lawless and they scored . Would have got why did we not just shut up shop and see game out . Well we did the latter and we won so it’s a thumbs up from me as the amount of times fans on here were screaming at losing last minute goals saying why not just shut up shop, it’s now laughable that when we do that and win they still moan . Pretty easy this week. Liam Grimshaw. Solid all round performance. Great finish for the winner! Great block to save us at the end, and a trade mark lung busting run to split the Livvy defence and pass to Woolery who should have scored. Tony Watt the only other serious contender for a consistemt performance over 90 mins.

Great to get a win and three points on the board. That's the main thing. No matter how ugly. We now move forward (I hope!) Whilst I always buy into the above and still, toa degree, still do... I am asking myself questions. I was in the Robinson club and also bought into into idea Alexander was the right man. I am questioning that idea. Not in anyway trying to come across as a moan or take the shine off a win. Today's tactics were absolutely pish. And I don't think the second goal was anything beyond dumb luck that Grimmy was switched on, in the right place at the right time. Anyone else at any other minute in that game and that goal wouldn't have happened. We need another couple of wins on the bounce to inspire some confidence not just in thr squad but also the support.

Surprised that so many people say that we were poor today, I quite enjoyed it! Particularly that spell at the start of the second half until we went ahead. Once again I've got nothing but good things to say about Lamie. Defensively he is extremely solid, and a lot less punts up the park today too! Also thought Carroll, Slattery, Watt & Justin were very good. And Grimmy, what a guy!

Watt was good when we got him into the game, but we didn't do that often enough. Finding a forward line that clicks with him is going to be key to our season. Lamie was solid again. When he stays on his feet and cuts out the nonsense, I almost like him. Went with Grimshaw mainly because he scored, that last ditch block near the end, and the story.

While I understand the attraction of the EPL and signing for your boyhood heroes - not to mention the large sums of cash involved - I still wonder if guys like Gillespie regret not playing more games. Newcastle have a goalkeeping issue right now with their number one and number two out injured, and I see Gillespie made it to the bench today as number four. I guess keepers are more used to sitting on the bench, but going from first team regular to fourth choice non-starter must be tough.

Great follow up for the goal. Crucial block. Set one up on a plate for Woolery. Added some energy in midfield. I think we’ll deserved MOTM for Grimmy

Winning away from home on plastic after going behind is a great result. It's worth bearing in mind we went near enough a year without scoring an equaliser not long ago.

I don't love this 'shut up shop' mentality from Alexander, especially when we are all over them.

Justin did put his hand on the back of the Livi player. Easy then for the ref to give a free kick to Livi to take the controversy out of his decision to halt the game immediately at that point.

My frustration was not too many years ago we had very similar crowds - Hibs have maintained and added more punters. We have reduced by more than 50%.
