  1. And if we spent that money and still didn't get past Sligo, then what? As well as smashing our salary structure and setting up a precedent where any new player would also want £4k a week (not to mention existing players demanding an immediate raise), we'd be stuck with a wage bill that was too big for an entire season and be dependent on qualification again this season in an effort to cope with it. If we played Sligo this weekend, do you think we'd win over two legs? If so, then it's not the personnel that was the problem, it was the coaching.

  2. Sadly I have to report the death of a former long term BT colleague and lifetime Motherwell fan, John Stevenson, John had been a season ticket holder for a long number of years and sat in the pod alongside myself, Kmcalpin and others for many years. To my knowledge he was never a member of the steelmen online forum but I thought it would be appropriate to mention him on here as a mark of respect for a lifetime well fan, whose company we enjoyed at matches for years. His two passions in life were Motherwell and rugby as he was also a season ticket holder for Glasgow warriors at Scotstoun. Due to serious illness, pancreatic cancer he never renewed his season ticket for the 21/22 season , he never really recovered after the chemo treatment, and finally passed away yesterday, aged 69. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him .

  4. Nah not for me, we've been down the paying big wages to average players road and it nearly killed the club. We are a well run club just now with a financial structure that means we are living within our means on the fanbase we have which is the only way to operate. The model has served us well over the years ok no major cup wins etc but reasonably regular Euro qualification, 2nd and 3rd place league finishes, cup finals, etc so why break the structure that is working well. Paying large wages to a few players only upsets the other players who may not be getting the same, and remember the poor players only getting 1 or 2k a week, that's a 100k a year salary.

  5. We were getting £400,000 anyway from having one team in the group stage. Two teams took it up to £600,000. It's just a shame we blew easy money on offer in our own qualifiers but hopefully Hammell takes us on a cup run to make up for some of it.

  7. I’m hoping hearts European games will take its toll on them and we can perform well enough to grab 3rd spot.

  8. If he can tackle and put in a cross in I am going to stick my neck on line and say KVV will get 20 goals this season and we will win the league.

  10. At this point, we don't need just numbers. Squad players aren't going to move the needle, so if we're unable to get guys that are capable of kicking current first teamers onto the bench, then we shouldn't panic and just work with what we have.
