  1. Wow! I feel like I was at a different game today! For the first 30 mins I thoroughly enjoyed the way we were playing and thought we were bossing the game. My Kilmarnock supporting mates agreed. They thought they were in for a hiding. But Killie grew into the game and finished the 2nd half stronger and we were a little fortunate to go in at half time still in the lead. 2nd half McInnes tweaked things and Killie had more of the play and created some good chances, but I felt we were still dangerous on the counter and but for some poor decision making in the final third could have had the 2nd goal that would have made us comfortable. I thought at the time of the substitutions we did need to make some. But I felt they were the wrong ones. Cornelius, for me, was having a good game and we missed his energy big time when he went off. Efford for Shields is a natural replacement but Morris for Cornelius just didnt work. I could have seen the point ifhe had brought Morris on for Spittal as they are more similar in their role and Spittal probably isnt quite there yet fitness wise. The 2nd one I couldnt get was Slattery for Maguire. We were under pressure and needed ball retention. Slattery is just more composed on the ball than Maguire so I couldnt get my head around that one at all despite how tired Slattery may or may not have been. Ultimately we got what we deserved in the end for some poor defending and bad decision making. But losing today felt a million miles away from the losses under GA. The body language from the players is night and day from where it was before. We still have many things needing fixing. But we are headed in the right direction. This is a team I can be enthusiastic about again.

  2. One loss on a totally shite pitch ,with a brand new manager. Who’s still getting to grips with being a first team manager and players getting used to new ideas on how he wants them to play. Give the team at least two minutes to get settled.

  4. Sadly I have to report the death of a former long term BT colleague and lifetime Motherwell fan, John Stevenson, John had been a season ticket holder for a long number of years and sat in the pod alongside myself, Kmcalpin and others for many years. To my knowledge he was never a member of the steelmen online forum but I thought it would be appropriate to mention him on here as a mark of respect for a lifetime well fan, whose company we enjoyed at matches for years. His two passions in life were Motherwell and rugby as he was also a season ticket holder for Glasgow warriors at Scotstoun. Due to serious illness, pancreatic cancer he never renewed his season ticket for the 21/22 season , he never really recovered after the chemo treatment, and finally passed away yesterday, aged 69. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him .

  5. Good post and similar thoughts to mine.i thought we started the game well and eventually scored a really well worked goal but after that we seemed to drop about 5 yards back and we're happy to just sit in and look to defend,I actually think if we had scored a second we would have won that comfortably.if you sit in to defend more often than not it will come back to bite you and that's what happened to us,especially as we still look to be dodgy at centre half, that's some poor goals we have already conceded this season.the subs that got brought on were dire, especially efford and morris, neither offered anything and we were far worse when they came on the park, hopefully hammell gets in the striker and winger that he wants and get mckinstry upto speed we will have far better options to choose from.despite the defeat I think we're heading in the right direction,if we can somehow make ourselves a bit harder to score against them I think we can have a good season.im actually looking forward to our next game already,I never thought I would be saying that after the sligo games.

  6. I do despair sometimes on here. After last week we had 9/12 pts. We lose today and then it's ahhh we were lucky v st Mirren and got jammie pen v Livi. This is a long term project and just imagine the position if GA was still in charge. I have a good feeling we are on the right tracks...keep the faith

  7. He played Efford and Tierney in in the second half and we came away with nothing. Shields ballsed up a 1 on 1 as well.

  8. Im girning at the fact that if he played others in as he should've done we wouldnt need t rely on him scoring all the goals, hes been guilty of that in most of our games

  9. Lucky penalties, flukey results aye you could be battered for 89 mins but the only thing that matters is who scores the most goals and if you score more goals than your opponent you deserve to win the game that's how football works, goals get you points, so we deserved the wins against St Mirren and Aberdeen. As for the penalty later in the season with Var we probably would not have been given it, but as we stand the Livi player gave the linesman and Ref a decision to make and we got it, they thought it was a pen nothing to do with luck. It will even itself out over the season as we are bound to be on the wrong side of a decision at some point, so my post was not based on selective memory we have earned and deserved all the points we have so far and if we knew how to see a game out we definitely should have had another 1 from the St J game and at worst 1 from Killie.

  10. In this league those are the games you need to win, Kilmarnock were joint bottom with a -8 goal difference for a reason ie they are honking. When you're 70 mins into a game and winning 1-0 we should be seeing those games out, but as I have said before were are feckin brutal at managing that, we constantly defend too deep and invite teams onto us, that's down to the midfield going missing. As it stands 9 points from 5 games is decent but in all honesty it should have been another 3 today and 1 from the St Johnstone game which would have had us joint top ffs on 13. The Dundee untd game is important now as I expect them to get nothing tomorrow so a win against them at Fir park next week is vital to keep a nice gap early in the season and have us looking up and not down going forward.

  11. Well that was disappointing but we can’t complain about losing. The positive from today was a very good goal which was well set up and well taken. The negatives unfortunately were all too common. Bullied in midfield and weak defensively. We were inviting pressure onto our backline from the minute we went ahead and that was always going to end badly. Results and performances like that are going to happen, that’s something we are just going to have to accept going forward with the current squad we have. We just need to pick up as many points against our ‘peers’ as we can to avoid relegation/the playoffs this season.

  13. Not a fan of bringing on Morris for Cornelius. You're replacing energy and work rate with someone who offers neither. Morris can take the sting out of a game and slow it down, what you're after at 1-0 up. So bring him on for Shields. Stupid substitution to make...

  14. The goals were soft, but Kilmarnock had plenty of opportunities earlier and failed to take them. A team with some half decent finishers would have embarrassed Motherwell today.

  15. Deserved victory for Kilmarnock. Apart from the first 20mins, Motherwell were awful. No surprise that we blew that one. It is the Motherwell way. A lot of work ahead.

  16. This Kilmarnock team is poor as well, dropping points to them is a sore one.

  17. Did anyone really expect this defence to not throw away goals. Did it all last season and no different this season. Also apart from the Aberdeen game we normally only manage to score 1 goal per game. We know how that ends. And as I continually mentioned in previous posts KVV scores again and nobody else does.

  18. Poor subs sterted it tbh. No need to bring on Morris and Efford. We were relatively comfortable. Have completely lost the midfield Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk

  19. Heard from my Killie fan ex workmate that some well fans throwing bottles at cars in Killie, sad to hear, we have an element that just seem to look for bother wherever they go, that is why I give away games a bodyswerve
