  1. Its early days nobody can be blamed for the lack of action so far , players we are in for often have options of Killie , St Mirren , St J and others down South and wont make a decision until late on in the the window , same goes for August hence why i think any criticism of Alexander was harsh on that front and why Hammell wasnt as hamstrung as many are saying, ideally we want them in early but we have til the end of Jan to get the right faces in Personally i think you could get the entire second string in from Chelsea and Hammell wouldnt know what to do with them as he isnt getting the best out of whats already there but thats another arguement

  2. Worth a gamble? It's one of the reasons we are in the mud!Folk are kidding themselves on with this one. Last days of the window you sign an old fan favourite that probably didn't even pass the medical properly to compete with our only striker it's amateur hour. When I hear down to barebones week after week from Hammel well you did sign two players with length injury problems and continued problems nah not having that.

  3. His contract doesn't run out until 2024 but I think Bruce Anderson would be a player that we should be looking at as the next Livingston player we bring to Fir Park on a pre contract.

  4. They have also lost 8 out their last 9 away matches. They haven't taken an away point since October against Ross County. They have also conceded 17 goals in their last 5 away. (6 v Celtic, 4 v Aberdeen, 3 v Rangers, 3 v Hearts, 1 v Kilmarnock) This is a match we really need to be winning.

  5. And there is the problem. Who would you sign for, an experienced manager who has been around the block or a novice with a novice assistant who have very few contacts in the game. Hammell's August signings showed he had little or no contacts, brining in two ex players who were crocks and an academy player he had worked with who had no first team experience. It will be interesting to see who he manages to persuade to come to us but I am not expecting much.

  6. Why would Hammell have contacts? He was running our academy, transfers were never a part of his job. You get contacts from doing business. You would be as well asking why Riki Lamie doesn't have contacts He got the job because he got off to a good start and the candidates who applied were very poor. We have a head of recruitment and a CEO who has years of experience dealing with agents and signing players. They should have stepped up.

  8. If KVV doesn't score then sorry we take zip from this game. Two shit teams going nowhere. Two shit teams who each appointed the wrong manager. Two shit teams heading for bottom 6 at best.

  9. Livi doing us a massive favour today so all set up for us to make pigs ear of it tomorrow, anytime we have chance to open a gap we seem to make a hash of it. Anyway hopefully they can prove us wrong. Also it's a gimme Shields will start, I am not a fan but I also believe that constantly booing or criticising a player isn't going to help so hopefully he can do us a turn tomorrow

  10. Livingston 1-0 up at Ross County. Good news for us.

  11. I honestly don’t see a change of tact from the club regarding recruitment. Everything will still be within budget, no major loosening of the purse strings, league of Ireland, lower league down south, better championship level in Scotland to carry on being the norm. I know it’s not want people want to here but it’s been that way for years and the club have made it very plain they won’t go overspending again. So for me as stated before as well as maybe two or three fairly predictable level signings the main thing is improving what we already have before it’s too late.

  12. I don't share much of the doom and gloom that I have been reading over the last number of weeks. Comments like ' favourites for the drop' and ' the teams around us will start to move away now' seem strange given that we have a decent record against those teams in recent months. We beat Dundee Utd the last time we played them. We thumped Ross County. We have held our own against Killie and Livingston in recent weeks. The Kilmarnock game was frustrating but a freak goal from a former player with a point to prove was the difference between one point and three. I think the next three games are very winnable and could change the complexion of the season. Hibs come to FP under alot of pressure. Their managers comments after last week's game suggested a man feeling that pressure. So I predict for us to narrowly beat Hibs by one goal after a nervy 90 mins and for Rangers to beat Dundee Utd so that the picture looks a little brighter tomorrow evening.

  13. Its important for us to get some new faces in as quickly as possible but, no doubt our ability to get players to sign on the dotted line is dependent on our postion in the food chain and it might be later before we can secure anything. In asnwer to GrahamH, we did have alternatives last summer, albeit very limited. We could have passed on Rolando Aarons and Louis Moult to sign, on loan, one more reliable incomer. But, we're all wise in hindsight. Regarding our recruitment, the manager will direct the Head of Recruitment and have the final say on signings. However, it looks as though managers may decide to bring in their own men who they know. For example, Graham Alexander with Josh Morris and Stevie Hammell with Rolando Aarons, Louis Moult and Stuart McKinstry. They don't look like Nick Daws signings.

  14. Without doubt, I’ve long said that our recruitment is absolutely diabolical and needs to improve drastically. However signings are attributed to the manager and those two signings reflect poorly on Stevie Hammell.

  15. He’s now had plenty time to identify targets for this window but sadly no signings. The board will have to loosen the purse strings let’s face it they are responsible for this mess we are in

  16. ^I'd say that those signings are more a reflection on the performance of our head of recruitment. Stevie had very little time before the end of the summer window but the recruitment chap should have identified a number of targets way in advance irrespective of the managerial situation.

  17. Definitely worth the gamble as I imagine it was probably Louis or nothing at the stage when he was signed. Very low risk gamble as far as I can see.

  18. Sad that it didn't work out, was worth the gamble at the time. He is still a legend and welcome to Fir Park anytime.....LOUISSSSS LOUISSSSS

  19. Must confess to doing exactly the same thing. Last night I was googling Cillian Sheridan's age last night when I saw him playing for Dundee. Like you with O'Brien, my first thought was 'how old is he?!?'. Turns out the answer was only 33...
