  1. I'm sure Arsene Wenger said something about that a while back?

  2. Wenger said it takes 6 months for a new player to get up to full speed in a team, and that's if they move from the same league. If they come from a lower division or a different country, it can take longer. What he never said was to judge a new signing after 2 league games.

  3. I don't think he has. As many have pointed out, he did the same when he played for us. The truth is, he's just not very good.

  4. Maybe fact it's slow motion but I am not convinced he has deliberately went out to do Mika. It's a terrible blow for us and Mika obviously and only way to get justice is to pump them at Fir Park on 16 September

  5. Frustrating to lose a player who looks to be the real deal. It looked a poor challenge. Irrespective of intent, motive, accident blah blah blah we've lost out on a new signing that we were excited about. Solution, go out and get another loanee in who will score goals + replace Maguire + any other player who is leaving A sprinkling of quality throughout the team will put a smile on our frustrated faces.

  6. What a difference a week makes! Really energised and optimistic by Biereth's performance against Hibs but pretty devastated by his injury now. Dunne's tackle was out of control imo and should have been a red but it wouldn't have minimised Mika's injury, which we are somehow going to have to adapt to. I suppose this is where a manager earns his corn.

  7. Might be a good tackle 30 years ago but nowadays you can't fly in like that "win the ball" and in doing so endanger an opponent. Mikas out for 3 months, and not because of an unfortunate landing or otherwise, so there's no argument he wasn't endangered there. Sickener but now we have to deal with it...

  8. St Mirren assistant also said Arsen esq comment about tackle. " I didnt see it"

  9. Arsene also said about me "you can't judge him after one bad joke", and look how badly wrong he got that one 🤣🤣🤣

  10. It's the only angle I've seen. If you or anyone else can provide a different angle I'd like to see, but from there it looks a good tackle and just a very unfortunate injury.

  11. TBF I think he was just a clumsy big guy nothing sinister in that. But on the subject the guy that ended up with a broken beek in that game elbowed Moult in the face earlier in the game which caused him to get stitches right across his brow but that elbow was brushed under the carpet always annoyed me as that was a great game but all emphasis was put on that moment. It was sad to see that challenge from Dunne, flew right into that challenge with the intention of taking the guy out.

  12. There's a big difference between some rough stuff in the air and throwing your full body weight at an opponent's knees. It's karma for us because we brought the rats to Scotland but they are still way out of order. Robinson dodged his post match interview after Kettlewell accused him of targeting Mika which tells you everything.

  13. I’ll be hypocritical about this if I want thank you very much. We, us, Robinson and Bowman were roundly and loudly condemned by the media for that incident. You had Rangers greetin to all and sundry and Brendan Rodgers giving head shaking sermons about how his Golden Bhoys would need protection in the final. There’s no condemnation over this and we have lost a key player for a huge chunk of the season. Quite simply, FUCK St.Mirren, Robinson and Dunne. A shower of cunts.

  15. Bud, you can't judge a player after only one game. He has come from a different league, maybe doesn't even speak English and getting used to new players and formations. I have no idea if he will turn out good or not but he needs to be given time

  16. That was classic Robinson team hatchet-man tactics. Hope Hibs pump them in the next round and they hit a bad slump in the league.

  17. He knows his worth and will hold out until someone meets that number. With him being a free agent he will be able to take his pick of clubs that need a striker panicking after the window shuts, so he should be in no rush. Also, who knows that we didn't approach him? Fletcher is one striker most of us know is available, so its natural theres chat about him, the same goes for the constant talk about signing ex players, but there's plenty of others out there. Also, previous salary is a significant indicator of future salary and always has been. It's not guaranteed, but the idea that "anything is more than the nothing they're getting paid now" just doesn't track, people should know what theyre worth and do what they can to realize that.

  18. But what is he earning now? Zero!

  19. I would welcome him with open arms 100 percent only thing he needs not to be injured to sign on and ready for first team action which i think he would be.

  20. In Steelboys reality the settling in period is 30 seconds after you meet your new team mates for the 1st time, then 30 seconds after that they are labelled as shite.

  21. It's all fine and well saying it takes 6 months upto speed however it takes 1 minute to look at a players medical record and work out Obika has hamstrings made of glass that shall have him out for most of the season. Obika 1 year with a 1 year possible extension is basically 2 years worth of wages down the pan. We are a body down already in an area of the pitch that looks to be our weakest.

  22. I am 54 years old. In the first 22 years of my life we had appeared in exactly zero cup finals. In the last 32 years we have been to 5 and won 1. Of the 4 we lost, we played Celtic or Rangers in every one. We are one of a select number of clubs who have won all of the major trophies available to Scottish top flight clubs and have a rich history in taking the beautiful game around the globe. You can also add in numerous top six finishes and European appearances to that list. This belief that there is somehow something wrong with our club because we lost a very tight cup tie by the odd goal away from home against a similar sized club who are in good form is just ludicrous. Yes Kettlewell got the team wrong yesterday and thats on him. Whilst he may not say it, he will know that, and it will hurt him. However, his record is still excellent and the squad he is building is still well short of where he (and we) would like it to be. Can we just for once, wait until October or November before we decide he is shite, his players are shite, he will be gone by xmas?

  23. Avoided coming on here yesterday post game cause I knew the degree of pant-wetting from the usual suspects would be painful. We were pish, simple as that. Davor sold the jerseys for the goal and was a mile off the pace. St Mirren looked a little better than us but still a very Robinson style team. Fight like fuck for the second ball. Once Miller came on, there was pretty much nothing in it between the two teams (i.e. they were as pish as us). Fact is, that outside the two arse cheeks, your team is not going to win every week and the odd crap performance is inevitible, regardless of who the manager is, so an 'unexpected' defeat was always on the cards, especially given Kettlewell's record over the last 20 odd games. If someone had said after Hammy's last game that you were going on a run that would see you lose 3 in 22 (or whatever it is), everyone would have been delighted. If you think your team should win every game every week and play expansive attacking football, probably best to go and support Celtic or Man City. Last week, we beat Hibs (and the usual suspects had that down as a tanking before it kicked off). In fact, Hibs, a team who have progressed in Europe with a couple of decent performances, did not lay a glove on us all game and only scored because of that ridiculous penalty. So, agreed, we were crap yesterday, but every team in the league will have crap days. If you're on here posting about the eighth defeat in a row, that's the time to wet yer knickers.

  24. Dunne’s tackle was robust but out of control given he clearly knee-capped Biereth in the process. The latter negates the former, so, whichever way people chose to look at it, I find it hard to believe that some are defending him and/or claiming it wasn't even a foul. It's simple: Dunne’s actions endangered an opponent because he wasn't in full control of the tackle. It was idiotic and likely a result of Robinson instructing his big guys to play on the edge to nullify (not kneecap) known danger. And to those who use the ‘Dunne slipped argument’, give it a rest. Professional football players are trained to play to the conditions, so they know exactly what they're doing and can/cannot get away with. It was a terrible tackle and I hope Dunne feels like a right twat given he's seriously injured a fellow pro. As for Robinson, he's a coward in this instance. We now need to sign another messiah.
