Saw Louis didn’t celebrate at all when he scored, still a class act.4 points

We have 4,000 - 4,500 fans and probably fewer are going to go to a match not on the season ticket. Even back in the day when it was a tenner to get in, you could just turn up at a turnstile and the quality of the football was infinitely better, we were rarely getting over 5,000 home supporters. There was also a genuine belief we could actually win a cup which I don't think really exists any more. It's not piss poor, it's just the size of our support.4 points

Been a while since I was actually "StirlingDosser" so I suppose this is a call to arms really...are there many fellow Well fans working out in Abu Dhabi/Dubai? It would be good to get a few gatherings in to watch some of our games and a few jars in if there is even a small group of us out here.2 points

Really looking forward to this now. Really pleased the efforts of the Well Society and the Club have payed off and it looks like we are gonna have a healthy attendance for what is actually quite a big game for us. As Steelboy points out we havent had a home quarter final since 2018, so they are not things that come around all the time. Since the 2 cup finals, our cup record has been pretty poor. It would be nice to rectify that tonight and get the win that takes us back to Hampden. Its a lovely night for a game under the lights. Lets get right behind the team from the off! Up The 'Well! 🧡❤️🧡2 points

It's a paper exercise based on actual numbers though, which is what attendances are also based on. So it certainly does equate to pretty solid reasoning. The central belt encompasses the likes of Edinburgh and Glasgow as well though, doesn't it? Should we be drawing our fanbase from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling, Falkirk and Paisley? That seems ludicrous to me. Again, our fanbase as a percentage of our local population is as good an indicator as you're going to get. And we do pretty well in that regard. Is there room for improvement? Always. Are we worse than other clubs in Scotland? Not really. The club as a whole needs to (and is) working on increasing our fanbase. Not just the Well Society. Once again, over the past few days, I've seen responsibility for increasing the fanbase and bringing in significant investment being placed on the table of a group of volunteers who have full-time jobs outside of football. The Society absolutely has a part to play, but so does the paid staff of the football club.2 points

We were very passive tonight and a bit pedestrian and times , however I defy anyone to say we weren't worth our win. Quite simply we were the better of two ordinary teams tonight. Unusually the crowd turned up and we got the result. Fabulous turn out and when all said n done it doesn't matter a fuck how you play in the cup , its getting through that matters. Disappointed in the fans who booed Moult. Even after all his team mates had disappeared of the park he applauded the Motherwell fans. Not going to go into who was good bad or indifferent I don't give a flying fuck. We had a big crowd and they rewarded them with a win. These night come along so rarely lets not over analyse it.1 point

A game where winning was more important than a good performance. The performance wasn't bad as such but It was a very tight, scrappy match, especially first half. Was crying out for a bit more composure, only Lennon Miller seemed to be able to take a touch and control the ball. Wasn't many chances for either team but I thought Dundee Utd, maybe just edged it in overall play but there wasn't much between the teams. Scored at a great time and looked like a fantastic finish. No chance for the keeper. Second half we started the better team and had a period of pressure and most of the chances but nothing clear cut. About 70 minutes or so you could see us starting to time waste, falling deeper and Dundee Utd started looking likely to equalise. Great save by Ox kept us ahead but it was almost inevitable that Moult would score and it was a great finish to be fair. It's one of those weird things in football that it was almost a relief when Utd scored cos you always felt we'd play further up the pitch at 1-1 than we did at 1-0. Last period of the game was fairly end to end and we always looked a threat at that stage of the match. The guys that came off the bench did well, though Kaleta was good going forward in the latter stages. And we should all know that Ebiye coming off the bench gives you something up top. I'm not 100% on Davor but I thought he had a decent match tonight. On Robinson up top, we are playing a system where we have been competitive in every game, Top 6 in the league and are in the semi final of the League Cup. There's the big picture for those that don't see it.1 point

First of all I hope you enjoyed his goal tonight. Secondly he literally has the best pass completion stats of any one in the squad. Also best stats on dribbling. Thirdly do I really need to explain the game to you? You know as well as I do that just holding the ball up for a couple of seconds can have a big effect on a match. Or just running into or standing in an area, Or putting your foot on the ball and bringing it under control. Or drawing a foul. or an almost infinite number of other actions.1 point

"So here's to you Zach Robinson, well fans love you more than you will know.....whoaaa ho hooooo" What a night, absolutely buzzing. We deserved it and bar a shaky 10 min spell were better team. Ox outstanding save, miller different class but credit to all players and what a crowd and I include the utd support in huge numbers. Bring on Hampden. Only confusing moment was some fans booing moult, didn't quite understand that, but hey ho. COYW1 point

I was out with my mum earlier who is a die hard well fan but but she doesn't go much these days. She came to a few earlier in the season to help me when I was struggling with an injury and I said to her if we win... We're going to hampden....and we are. Get in!!!1 point

Line up could be bolder as it’s a cup tie after all. Not even minor tinkering after last weekend’s lacklustre showing.1 point

Hats off to the Well Society, and Caldwell, for pounding the streets this week. More of this please.1 point

Yup, and that's what some people like to discuss mere hours ahead of a big cup game. Go figure. Maswa would start for me, and patience is running thin with Robinson. I know we don't have many options up top though, so that plays a part.1 point

A quick check (correct me if I'm wrong @David), 4,500/32,000 (census population of Motherwell) = 14%. We absolutely should be targeting areas further afield, like the Society (and the Club) have proposed; e.g. outlying towns and villages like Lanark, Law, Hamilton, Strathaven etc. Campaigns like the one for tonight, I imagine, are only the beginning. I think it's fair to say that these efforts should absolutely be applauded and if this is the kind of work we're going to be seeing moving forward, it's an indicator of how seriously things are being taken to increase ticket sales. Especially when you consider that an increase in crowds doesn't provide an increase in revenue from pie stalls, merchandise etc. as the terms of those deals aren't in favour of the Club right now. Others can correct me, but I think the Club have made money on shirt sales on maybe one occasion in the last 10-15 years? Pie stalls are a flat fee per game/season and then the rest goes to the franchise who runs them. As others have said, time will tell, but this is a promising start.1 point

For me its what the club needs to do, they need to talk it up to get more bums on seats. Why shouldn't we make a song and dance about it to try and generate excitement and interest. We see enough pedestrian non event shite week in week out lets enjoy it for what they've done and hopefully generate a good atmosphere.1 point

We are more than capable of winning this but players have to be in the right frame of mind. Nothing stupid, no silly mistakes, perform individually and as a team unit. Let’s get right into them and and create and score chances so we can enjoy the game. However, I’ll still be happy if we win a nerve jangling tie as long as we win. COYW!!!1 point

The bookies have us as slight favourites at 6/5, so that'll also be my prediction, with Moses to come off the bench on 80 mins and score all 6.1 point

I'd moved to England for work by that season, otherwise I'd have boosted those average attendances by about 0.05. Sorry about that.1 point

For context. In season 93/94, the season we should have won the league, our average home attendance was 7894. That was inflated by 4 full houses of 14k v Celtic and Rangers. Our lowest attendance was a midweek game v St Johnstone and was 4527. The majority of attendances were between 5 - 7k. Prices were lower, there was little to no live tv away supports were decent. And that was our best league season in living memory.1 point
