Just back from 2 weeks in Tenerife. Had the pleasure of the 2nd StJ and Tims games while there. I contacted the press to say I was ruling myself out of the managers job, but it must have been in the papers before I got home cause I never saw any mention.

Watched that 19 goals from open play 6 being in the league Cup which is 13 goals in the league from open play. Most of our goals are from set pieces and I think we had 2 goals where it was a midfielder who created or made the assist so our tactic really was to play for set pieces and cross the ball in from wide. I wonder how other sides do in stats like goals from open play ours is funny as most of our goals from open play came against utd and Aberdeen and Rangers. But on the whole our creative output has been poor and reinforces the need for a midfield

Stopping the slump means winning games and that keeps us top 6, so the two objectives go hand in hand. Another 3 maybe 4 wins before the split and the added bonus of a European adventure will be well within our reach.

Finishing in the top 6 and maybe getting into Europe are for the birds. The top priority for whoever ends up as manager must be to arrest the current slump and ensure we stay out of the dogfight that’s developing below us.

Given we dont really have enough fit midfielders to not play 3 at the back and that Frail is unlikely to change the system, Id go with this (if fit). Balcombe Balmer Gordon Casey Kaleta Thompson Slattery Miller Nicholson Maswanhise Armstrong If either Miller, Slattery or both arent fit enough then Paton and Halliday will have to do or maybe Andrews. Most important thing though is to get the wing backs pushed right up to support the midfield and keep Ross County pinned back. Nicholson and Maswanhise will have to do a lot of running to support Armstrong. Not much football in the back 3 but I think the SOD / Blaney experiment has run its course. Id love to see us go 4 at the back with a midfield of Miller, Slattery, Paton, with Nicholson and Maswanhise prividing the width but seems highly unlikely given the circumstances.

A team should defend as a unit, and that often starts in the middle of the park. And I’d love to hear how you think continuing with Kettlewell’s approach will stop us losing goals.

Massive game and I am going to bang the cheerleader drum again. We need the support to get right behind the team. Any discontent just plays right into Ross County hands. The fans deserve a big performance after the way we have been treated last fortnight ( apart from the clowns that were giving SK abuse) COYW

This game could be a season defining result, lose and our downward spiral into the relegation dogfight continues apace. Win it and it will give us a wee bit more breathing space. We need 6 points out the next 9 I think to keep us out of the mire... right now I wouldnt put bad money on us.
