You're right. It's not just about the players on loan. It's about the injuries as well and personally. I can't be bothered with the constant misery around Motherwell fc. Yes we are rubbish. Yes we might go down but does that need to be highlighted on every other post on here. I'm personally sick of it. I get it. Some fans think we are crap. They aren't good enough. But hopefully we will get tenth at least to stay up The negativity on here in some quarters is staggering. You get some people predicting we are going to lose every week no matter who we play I also think it's astonishing that some people think that managers can offload players who are still under contract. Edited to say I've seen that elsewhere not just on this forum. On Facebook folk were calling for everyone apart from Ox to go (eyeroll). I saw a post on here yesterday saying Balcombe has to go - stop press - he's on loan Rant over.5 points

There's been a couple of times in the last 5 or 6 years when were were in deep shit. The post police charge collapse under Robinson and the whole Hammell era which only came into being because another manager was forced out the club. Motherwell fans need to get a grip. In the natural order we are a Bottom 6 club every season and the only time we aren't are when we over achieve and others underachieve. 'That prat' had this team Top 6 all season, achieved a semi final, saved us from relegation once and had us comfortable last season. Sure it's a little bit nervy going into the last stage of the season but the only non city team that's better than us this term is St Mirren and then only by a small margin. Our fans need to get some perspective and stop the doom/crisis/it's never been worse/gut the club cycle.2 points

I'm jealous of the people who rank this squad as "the worst they have ever seen". They've had it easy!1 point

Tha'ts how Id see it , I don't see us winning any of the away games. We cant score so home draws are the most I see us getting. Could that keep us safe heres my stab at the fixtures Round 1 Motherwell versus St J - Draw Hearts v Dundee - Home win Kilmarnock v Ross County - Home Win .. that bloody pitch helping them Round 2 Dundee v Motherwell - Home Win Ross County V Hearts - Draw St J v Kilmarnock - Home win Round 3 Hearts v Motherwell - Home Win Kilmarnock v Dundee - Home Win St Johnstone v Ross County - Draw Round 4 Dundee v Ross County - Home Win Hearts v St Johnstone - Home Win Motherwell v Kilmarnock - Draw Round 5 Kilmarnock v Hearts - Home Win Ross County v Motherwell - Home Win St Johnstone v Dundee - Draw in the highly unlikely event this happened the table would finish like this and thats forecasting an utterly dire run in for us. Hearts 50 Kilmarnock 45 Motherwell 41 Dundee 41 Ross County 40 St Johnstone 36 Just a bit of fun, but even with only 2 points we could still escape the dreaded 11th, this scenario also sees St Johnstone gaining points every week but is extremely unlikely.1 point

That might be true, but it only evened out an earlier 18/20 split. A very subjective and controversial approach.1 point

Normally we should get 19 homes games but I think Hearts being in the bottom 6 will have a knock on effect as they would not have been factored to be in the bottom six when the 33 game campaign was being drawn up. https://spfl.co.uk/news/post-split-qa-season-202324#:~:text=All clubs play 16 or,at home and 19 away.1 point

42 points should be enough. If we had a striker that could score goals it would be a comfortable target. But if we had a striker that could score goals we wouldn't be in the bottom 6. I'd take 4 away games and Killie at home if it meant not having to play on that joke of a pitch again.1 point

Thoroughly balanced but spot on post. You should contribute more often.1 point

On the pitch, I've huge concerns that we can muster the points needed to avoid a play-off, but regardless of what happens, huge changes are needed off it. There is little doubt it's virtually a complete clear out that's required. Undoubtedly one of the worst Motherwell squads assembled in my 30-plus years of supporting the club. Personally disappointed to see the club sign SOD. At one-time a few seasons ago solid performer for club and country, but never a player who works in a back three and has been culpable for the loss of several goals this season. Cannot see how his performances merited an extension, but maybe time to work with the new manager will bring about a new lease of life. Sparrow extending makes sense. A versatile player who can be of value to a squad, but not sure he'd be in my first-team. One of only a few, however, that seems to genuinely put a shift in. Delighted to see Slattery stay. If Wimmer can get him into the right areas of the pitch then no doubt he can contribute goals and assists. Still feeling his way back after a bad injury, but with a good pre-season behind him he could become a key player. Out of the rest, I'd keep Ox, maybe Seddon at a real push, Gordon, McGinn (used as a squad player) and Stama but for me that's it. Miller will be sold to fund this rebuild and if it's on our terms then I'd think about Casey, but I'd certainly not be breaking the bank. We need to be ruthless and this is the ideal time to do that. The squad, even without the loans, is bloated and severely lacks quality and consistency. If this season has shown anything, we cannot afford to carry people. It needs to be a much tighter ship. We have also drifted away from offering our young players an opportunity. Wimmer needs to address this as a priority because at the moment, there doesn't seem to be much coming through, but perhaps the opportunities have been limited due to the obscene amount of loan players that have been brought in, the majority having no sort of impact at all. I appreciate injuries have played their part, but this is a squad that has had opportunities and time and again they've let the support down. Making such wholesale changes is not with risk and patience will be required, but the board need to show they back Wimmer and are bold enough to want to bring about a change in the dressing room culture that at the moment seems entrenched in mediocrity - and the acceptance of it.1 point

Maybe if Wimmer and the players spent less time writing platitudes of pish on social media and more time on the training ground, we wouldn’t be in this current mess.1 point

Another suggestion would be to seek to offload 4-5 from your base squad list of 10. If not, the same issues will persist next season. We need a complete gutting, if possible.1 point

I agree. We will not be getting relegated this season. The psychology is interesting. There is a rather natural assumption that we are the poorest of the 6 simply because of our natural angst of a worst case scenario. Hearts are probably the best of the six and they were rotten yesterday. They could not raise themselves to a performance despite all that was at stake. After Hearts, we are in the best place. The table does not lie. Draws work nicely for us. The teams below need wins. Again our natural irrational brains would tell us that St Johnstone will never make up 5 points on Dundee yet we have the fear about Dundee making up 5 points on us. We are rotten. Of that there is no doubt. The teams around us are as bad if not worse. If they were not, they would be further up the league table. I can't help but think of the Butland goal/ no goal against Rangers. Had that been given as it should we would be as good as home and dry right now. Yes there will be a few anguish moments but we will be safe this year.1 point

Think time is up for McGinn . 34 years and out much of this season, from memory he a thigh injury last season that kept him out during our poor run. I'd let him go , time to look ahead and get something different. The clubs recruitment has been awful. The last few seasons have come down to this time of the season saying : 1) I hope we don't get drawn in the play offs. 2) next season will be better when we get rid of xyz. We have typically off loaded players only to replace them with something worse. Our squad is majority of journeymen from England - time to change the approach.1 point

I have no idea why people are talking as if we're the worst team in the league. Where will the four points come from? Who would be all that surprised if we beat St Johnstone at home, drew with Killie at home (securing the four points needed) and then went on to draw away with a poor Hearts team who really have nothing left to play for, and grab another point or three against either County or Dundee away? We can get four points from that lot without much bother. I fully expect us to finish 8th or 9th.1 point

Team that finished yesterday had 5 loanees, add other loanees that didn't feature and also out of contract players and it will be a totally different squad next season. Also McGinn, Gordon, Seddon and Stama missing doesn't help. As I said to my mates yesterday, it's like keeping a car ticking along till it's MOT is due. Just want to survive this season then we rebuild but Wimmer needs to be given a chance and his first transfer window hopefully gives us an idea of how we will look1 point
