  1. Because we’re persisting with a system that requires proper wingbacks to function effectively, which we do not have. The alternative is, therefore, a flat back 4 with 2 defensive midfielders sitting in front to protect them, and 3 midfielders in front of them to provide some attacking penetration and width to feed the 1 up top. A simple 4-2-3-1 as proposed by @joewarkfanclub above.

  3. At this stage of the season I feel it's best if we can send some inspectors to Falkirk to see what's wrong with their stadium just to give us some comfort.

  4. For me the McLean era highlights what we can do over a sustained period of time. Not easy but this is something we should be looking to replicate and accept we're a long term project. McLean built a team long term like you mention the likes of Maxwell, Arnott, Dolan, Griffin, Kirk and many others improved over the years, particularly when we brought in some quality (Russell, Cooper etc) I'd be delighted for the club to have a long term progressive plan, that see's us gradually improve each year. Short term we need more cohesion and a few players with a bit more fight about them. Feels a long time since we had the likes of Lasley, Hammell, Craggs of the world who were good enough for us and cared about the club. My simple view is we need less journeyman and more Wilsons of this world fighting for us and progressing each year, don't need to all be world beaters. PS if someone could give us a Cooper or a Russell well that's fine too :).

  5. 2 week break before next game we all know what happens when this shower have a 2 week break it always ends in tears. One thing Simo has brought to St J is a fight and battle metality if we get a draw i shall be very happy. One player i would 100 percent start is Koutroumbis for a guy thats been dicked about since he came to the club he hasnt really done anything wrong when on the pitch. Ox has been passed fit by medical staff for 2 weeks now and still on the bench that in itself is a worry.

  6. I'm jealous of the people who rank this squad as "the worst they have ever seen". They've had it easy!

  7. Wellsince75, I appreciate your point but consider this: In the 18-club league, clubs only had to play 4 games against the OF and then with only 2 points for a win the maximum number of points each club could lose to them was 8. Now even if a club misses out on the top 6, the maximum number points they can lose to the OF is 18; and if they do make the top 6 it’s 24. Now I whilst I appreciate that no matter the size of league the OF will still dominate it but if clubs only had to play each of the OF twice in a season it would mean the maximum number of points each could lose would be 12 points. I apologise for taking the long way round to explain that the league is loaded towards the OF before a ball is kicked. Also, although as you say there were ‘meaningless’ games at the fag-end of a season, this gave clubs the chance to introduce younger players to first team football without under pressure.

  8. I actually wrote to Motherwell fc a long time ago asking if they would sell macaroni pies as I don't eat meat and they sent me a really lovely letter back saying yes they would 🤣🤣. At least 25 years ago. Probably longer. So - I'm the person responsible for getting maccy pies to Fir Park 🤣 Best thing is - I'm vegan now and I can't even eat them -, sad times 🤣

  9. They are 100 percent needing to scrap this play off nonsense for the team that finishes 11th rewarding a team for being utterly pish with another chance to stay in the league nope not for me. Straight two up and two up.

  10. I agree, the chances of us finishing lower than 10th are very slim, but you do realise your positivity will never catch on dont you.

  11. A back four is a no brainer for this squad. Christ knows why Kettlewell and Wimmer think otherwise.

  12. We all know how St Johnstone will play. High intensity pressing game with nothing to lose as a draw doesn't help them. Up to us to match that intensity. Whether we can is a different matter. If we can't raise our game for this then somethings far wrong.

  13. The answer to that would appear to be to play the majority of players who are still under contract and do actually give a shit about the club. Question is, do we have enough quality within that group to get what we need?

  14. There's been a couple of times in the last 5 or 6 years when were were in deep shit. The post police charge collapse under Robinson and the whole Hammell era which only came into being because another manager was forced out the club. Motherwell fans need to get a grip. In the natural order we are a Bottom 6 club every season and the only time we aren't are when we over achieve and others underachieve. 'That prat' had this team Top 6 all season, achieved a semi final, saved us from relegation once and had us comfortable last season. Sure it's a little bit nervy going into the last stage of the season but the only non city team that's better than us this term is St Mirren and then only by a small margin. Our fans need to get some perspective and stop the doom/crisis/it's never been worse/gut the club cycle.

  15. Maybe if Wimmer and the players spent less time writing platitudes of pish on social media and more time on the training ground, we wouldn’t be in this current mess.
