  1. Experience of what, sitting on the bench?
  2. Steven Saunders seems to have enjoyed his time under JG, anyway: http://www.rutherglenreformer.co.uk/ruther...63227-25636482/
  3. One thing to note is that most top-flight Irish football matches are played on a Friday evening, in a move to reduce the competition with those other sports to some extent. League of Ireland attendances did initially increase when summer football was introduced, but have dwindled again since the novelty wore off. The main complaints tend to be the same as ours, though, rather than anything to do with the Friday night/summer experience-- too expensive, poor quality entertainment, and unpopular league format (top 10 teams playing each other four times a season). You certainly do still get the odd postponement in the latter stages of the season too, there were a few around October/November last year due to waterlogged pitches.
  4. Then again, it usually rains even more here in Ireland during the summer than it does during the winter
  5. Aye, the fair play of national team + domestic clubs in Europe decides which three countries get the extra European place. It's then up to each country to decide which team gets the place (which is usually determined by that country's domestic fair play league-- certainly was in our case.)

Hmm, wonder if this applies to Ireland as well... fingers crossed

  8. IN the interview I heard, Brown didn't seem 100% sure that JB was due back today, so he may not be. (If I'd just flown back from NZ at the weekend, I certainly wouldn't be going into work on the Monday!) Yep, it's on the fishel site: http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/index.php?op...&Itemid=132
  9. Hee haw chance that Scotland will get a UEFA Fair Play spot this year, though, so doesn't matter how well we do in the SPL's Fair Play table. So we might as well start kicking people now
  10. Me too, but given the choice, I'd still rather watch fewer, meaningful, better quality games in balmy weather, than watch us struggle to beat St. Johnstone four or five times a season in a foggy/freezing/pissing-it-down mudbath.
  11. We've done so badly in cup competitions in recent years that to be honest I sometimes don't even check the result of our cup ties until the next morning. So I can't say I'm gutted.
  12. Was never going to be an easy ride up there. Now let's see what Jack and Victor can really do at HT.
  13. Nonetheless, when was the last time there was a fitba' season in Scotland with no weather-related postponements? This year is hardly the first time we've ever had this debate, so it's not just the current cold snap that's prompted it.
  14. Bonus. We all think football's too expensive, so fewer games = cheaper (Yes, I know, they'd probably hike the prices up even further to cover costs...)
  15. I'd have no problem ditching the 'diddy cup'. Having two cup competitions is a bit daft for a country our size anyway.
  16. Main argument that usually gets trotted out is that, if we were any good, we'd have to disrupt the season for the Euro and World Cup Finals every two years. Other countries seem to cope with this, though.
  17. The commentators made a big thing out how long he'd been on the park without having had a touch, and finally noted that he'd received a pass with about two minutes to go.

  19. Was just about to suggest some sort of 'anonymous suggestion box' scheme myself. For maximum inclusiveness you'd probably have have it on the club website and/or via a dedicated email address though, which obviously opens it up to abuse from numpties from other clubs, but hopefully not enough that you couldn't screen them out. Much as I like the moderated Q&A idea as well, I can see the club being on a hiding to nothing with that one-- assuming they can only answer a limited number of the questions submitted at any time, and they get to choose which ones, there would doubtless still be a paranoid element moaning about favouritism, grudges, cover-ups etc.
