  1. Indeed. Quote from the offical site, on April 23rd: http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2011/04/23/mccall-delighted-with-steel-grit/
  2. That should be at least three or four goals a season we're guaranteed, then.
  3. It's three years, according to STV at least. http://sport.stv.tv/football/scottish-premier/hearts/252216-john-sutton-moves-to-hearts-from-motherwell/
  4. Yep. 'Fishel site stats: Started:10 Sub:2 Goals:2 Yellows:2 Reds: 0
  5. Sutton or Jeffers? 'Fishel site (or the latest Google cache of it) says Sutton's stats at Motherwell are: Started: 102 Sub: 22 Goals: 43 Yellows: 3 Reds: 0
  6. Yep. I'll be happy if Jeffers chooses to hang around, but he's not the sort of guy who's going to score ten goals a season from three yards out.
  7. The season before last (Wigan)?
  8. Nah. Would rather keep our 100% winning record against Ajax
  9. Afraid he didn't do enough homework on Ki, then... he's scored at least a couple of decent efforts with that foot from the edge of the box and beyond this season. Maybe none quite as impressive as the one he rattled in on Saturday, but definitely good enough that you wouldn't want to be giving him the option.
  10. Nae wunner we lost, it says we were going to on the cards!

    Tom Boyd

Which seems quite reasonable to me, I'm afraid.
  12. No, I'm saying the opposite -- I was disagreeing with Al's claim that the referee had indicated that there had been no disadvantage to Motherwell! It didn't seem to me like that's what he'd indicated at all.
  13. The referee waved his arms about to show what the contact looked like to him. What he may also have said, neither of us know, but he certainly made no gesture to indicate the proximity or otherwise of any other players, and thus whether any advantage had been gained (or otherwise).
  14. Aye, noticed that on Sportscene last night, was surprised nobody had mentioned it.
  15. The rules can't, but the referees can. Referees have to judge all the time whether foul play was accidental or deliberate, and in this case the referee indicated that he thought it was accidental, even though everybody else could see that it wasn't.
  16. Looks a lot like my video (which is still on my phone), you must've been sat right next to me!
  17. The question is, though, why did Majstorovic do it if he wasn't attempting to gain advantage? Why wouldn't he just have let the ball drift harmlessly out of play? Seems like he thought there was somebody behind him when there wasn't, in which case he was deliberately attempting to stop somebody from reaching the ball, even though he was mistaken.

Just a pity he turned he turned his back on the shots for the first and third goals instead of sticking his body in the way when he had the chance :/
  19. We saw Joe Wark heading in as well, and did wonder why on earth he was presumably having to pay his own way in to watch Motherwell in a cup final! Guys like him should be no.1 on the VIP list.

Hutch. The only player who looked willing to roll his sleeves up and get in about them.
  21. Presumably to try and take the opposition by surprise, given that they would have been more than familiar with every other formation we've played this season. No doubt they worked hard on it in training, and it didn't come off when it mattered, but them's the breaks. Hopefully McCall will learn from it, if nothing else.
  22. As I just said over on the game thread, certainly don't feel as let down as I did after the '05 final. But for the width of the crossbar and the ref bottling an obvious sending off, it could have been a different game, But it's been a long season for our lads and it showed.
  23. Just back home now. Not quite as disappointing as the CIS Final in 05, but looked a game too much for some of them after a long season. Had Gunning's rocket gone in or Majstorivic been sent off when he should have been it might have been a different game, but such is life. Card display looked great btw!
  24. Yep, confirmation in the Scotsman today: http://sport.scotsman.com/football/Porto-provide-incentive-for-Celtic.6771293.jp
  25. Me neither, but luckily it was a bit big on me in those days!
