Not seeing anything plausible so far I'm afraid...

National team doing well in theory raises the footballing credibility of our wee country and might persuade a better quality of player to come and play in the SPL (even for wee teams like us) that wouldn't do so otherwise, both of which have a knock-on effect on crowds, which brings more money into the game etc. That said, I'm always likely to be more interested in Motherwell than Scotland just because Motherwell games are a far more regular occurrence, and I've invested a lot more of my hard-earned cash going to watch Motherwell than Scotland.

And the main game got 20 minutes or more of highlights, not the 5 minutes you get nowadays. And sometimes that main game wasn't even a Premier League game, if there was a better First Division game on. Might I add: switching ends at half time, James Sanderson and Richard Park (before he was better known for being the Headmaster on Fame Academy), Chipmunk salt and vinegar crisps, and erra macaroon bars and spearmint chewing gum.

Have to say he didn't look injured to me from where I was sitting (well, standing), and didn't seem to be limping when he went off. So hopefully it was just precautionary.

Call me old-fashioned, but instead of worrying too much about bringing another striker into the club, perhaps our coaching staff could pull their fingers out and teach the ones we have to do a better job of scoring goals?

Could indeed, although given that he seems to have left Newcastle Jets because they couldn't agree new terms, you'd have to wonder what sort of wages he'd be looking for.
