  1. Will send you a wee PM. Martin, it is a very good course from a well respected faculty it just hasn't worked out for me and probably many others. I would say that anyone who has excelled in their studies and been able to get some work experience along the way will probably have a much different story to mine. I left before my Honours year as the bird was pregnant - not the easiest of tasks trying to start a career and a family at the same time with little experience in either. Hope the studies are going well and you're making the most of 99p Tuesday.
  2. Born in Lanark, brought up in Overtown. Since moving on from the 'rents house have lived in Muirhouse and New Stevenston but now back in Overtown (well the back of Gowkthrapple but it's not worth arguing over!) however if anyone knows of any jobs going in pretty much any other country (preferably a Scandinavian one, or Germany) then gies a shout! Graduated from Strathy Uni in Electronic and Electrical Engineering and currently working in British Gas call centre facing redundancy but that's for another thread in CC... So gies a job and life abroad any day of the week, but will still follow the 'Well til the day I die. Could almost tie this in with a couple of other threads but I don't attend many games these days despite living locally. I will say this is purely down to cash though, and with a young family I cannot allow myself the cash to get to games these days. I did find myself at Fir Park for the first time in quite a while on Friday since it was a tenner to get in. Hopefully soon I will be in a position to get down to more fixtures but I know that I'm not alone in my situation and for every 3500 that are at Fir Park on a Saturday there must be another 1500 who keep up to date with news, message boards etc and love the club to bits but cannot justify the entrance fee. Shame, but a sign of the times. EDIT: Just read that back and it looks a bit like I'm writing off our country - I would love it if there were opportunities here for people like myself to progress, and I am a supporter for change in Scotland (I reckon I will be here for a while, and will make do with what I can get). But in the next 10-15 years, I just don't see the major changes that are required, unfortunately.
  3. Keith Lasley switching on Gowkthrapple Christmas lights on Thursday evening. Bring the drum!
  4. Similar to the result down at Rugby Park, I don't think either side deserved to win/lose today. Kilmarnock defending exceptionally well from every set piece but were pretty hopeless going forward. We defending quite poorly I thought but done enough - with Clancy doing well to clear anything that he could. We were a bit powderpuff going forward - Higdon should have been in the 6 yard box to stick the ball in the net a couple of times imo but that's not a slate on the guy - I don't think he had that bad a game. Hopefully we will see some goals in the last remaining one or two fixtures between the two sides as we seem to cancel each other out. To those who think Scottish football is 'dying' I think there was two sides on the park today who were going in the right direction - the ball mostly on the deck, making the sort of moves that could win games but unfortunately with a missing killer instinct. Again, I thought this was the case at Rugby Park a couple of months ago. At the end of the day it's another clean sheet, we've come away from a tricky tie with a fair point and we can look on to next week whilst remaining 2nd in the table.
  5. * but if ye win, we'll get ye arrested. EDIT: How do you show the image on the thread instead of having to download it? untitled.bmp
  6. That's true. Maybe they'll notice when we win the league. Brilliant result today, after a tricky spell when it looked like we were lacking imagination up front it sounded like we were by far the best team today. Always good to come away from Tannadice with anything never mind a convincing 3-1 win. Well done to Stuart McCall and the players, I'll be having a wee beer or two for them tonight!
  7. 1656: That narrow win for Rangers lifts them 10 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premier League, with nearest rivals Celtic visiting Hearts tomorrow. Inverness remain bottom of the pile but draw to within one point of Dunfermline, Hibs and Aberdeen. 1655: FULL-TIME: Rangers 1-0 Hibernian 1653: FULL-TIME Dundee United 1-3 Motherwell
  8. I wish Maurice Malpas wrote us all an e-mail when he was in charge.
  9. Those stats do make interesting reading. I am a big fan of Stuart McCall and at the end of the day any points picked up against the Old Firm are always going to be seen as 'bonus' points as our season depends on results against every other team in the league. However, the performances we have put in against the Old Firm for the last couple of years have been absolutely dreadful and damaging to our goal difference - which hasn't yet cost us a league position, but it can. I have never paid the entry fee to Parkhead or Ibrox based on principles of where I prefer my cash to go as well as stories I've heard from other fans, but I usually manage to get a stream online and I would have felt a bit robbed paying £26 to watch that today. It seems that for the last couple of years we have been watching games involving Rangers and saying 'they are dreadful, worst Rangers team in x years... We could get right into them and get a win' which is promply followed by a rout at Fir Park. Celtic have been the better footballing team out of the two in the last few years imo and on their day they will beat us, however I don't believe they should do so with the ease of which we seem to be seeing at the moment. It can't be easy to come up with a solution - most teams in the SPL have a pretty poor record against both of them (though we must have the worst in the last couple of years) and we're never going to go into games against them as favourites. Do we put so much in and risk injuries and sending offs? If not, and we accept almost certain defeat before the match, maybe sending a second string out can't be an awful lot more damaging than the 4,5,6-0's that we are currently seeing? This would allow an extra 6-8 weeks rest a season for our starting 11, since most agree that outside of the starting 11 there isn't a great deal of squad depth. This would also allow the fringe players a chance to prove themselves and gain experience. I would much prefer to be sticking out the same starting 11 in every match knowing that the level of performance is going to be the same against the OF than it is against every other team in the league and have come to accept that sitting in and defending a 0-0 and hoping to hit on the counter might be a good option from now on on our travels to the ugly sisters. We can play good attacking football, but we can get away with glitches at the back and allowing players a wee bit of time on the ball against other teams in the league. Against the OF, playing the same way doesn't work. We have tried to play an open game against them for the last few games and have been pumped, plain and simple. Hopefully the gaffer keeps up the good work and takes the constructive criticism on board - because we've had a great start to the season and if we can keep up the rate at which we are picking up points then we will make third place ours in no time. It's just a bit frustrating that there doesn't seem to be an answer to us shipping goals to rangers and celtic.
  10. They've hardly touched the ball since they scored. We're playing well enough, just a bit sloppy in making the goal easy for them. Hopefully we'll create a couple of chances before half time and keep the ball off them.
  11. We need something to differentiate them from the rest of us. We used to use the term 'diddy teams' for the rest of us but a few years of being spanked in Europe has ensured that the old firm are now included in the 'diddy team' group as well.
  12. What's with all through negativity? I'm finally getting excited about a title challenge and we're already being talked down to 3rd?
  13. Anybody know of a couple of spare seats on any buses leaving from Wishaw/Motherwell? Tried phoning Daniels and the Joker but no buses running from either.
  14. Comparing Bob Malcolm to Davie Cooper or Stuart McCall may just be against the law Anyway, I was merely agreeing with TheLip's point about a player with that certain attitude that I would avoid. Novo would probably fall into that camp along with the Neil Lennon's of the other side. I don't think I lump anyone into the 'another Bob Malcolm' category easily and was happy when Stuart McCall was announced manager ( I see him as I see him as more of a Bradford man than a Rangers one anyway). Also players like Ross McCormack, Jim O'Brien etc have been welcomed. It's just the ones with half a brain cell between them that I wouldn't like to see us sign!
  15. When we played at Ibrox a couple of year back (the game where Sutton scored a screamer from about 30 yards) I was in the players' lounge as my cousin was playing with Rangers 17s at the time. After the match a few 'Well players - Stevie Hammill, Steve McGarry and another, I think - came in and had a can of juice then left. Half an hour later, I assume after the 'Well bus left, Bob Malcolm walks in to a room full of h**s jizzing in their pants as they rush to greet him. He was in his glory - and it was one of the reasons that I hated seeing him in a 'Well shirt. Once a chunt who aligns himself so close to either side of the squirm - always a chunt who will align themselves so close to them!
  16. After the last couple of results and the cup final coming up I was pretty confident of a win tonight. Great start. Can't get a stream on bet365 or anywhere else, found it strange that it was advertised but still, worth a try.
  17. According to myp2p bet365 and Unibet have the match streaming. Anyone got any other links?
  18. Those prices you've quoted Mitch are 90 minutes only by the looks of it on oddschecker. Paddy Power has us at 3/1 to lift the cup. Wouldn't think the odds would be too far from that on the day.

    Semi Final

This. Also, I got a wee chuckle on the way to the game round the Mount Florida Rail side of the stadium walking past a h*n protesting against the use of Lloyds TSB. They may win more trophies etc. but that, coupled with the lack of celebration at their 2nd goal and early exits at full time are just a couple of reasons why I pity the filth. Hate them and their ugly sisters but the hope lives on that one day they will cease to be and the rest of the country can bring football up to 21st Century Scotland.

    Ins & Outs

The bird was in his class at school and I'm sure she said he was a 'Well fan. Not that it matters, despite making mistakes that have cost goals etc. I have never doubted that he has given 100% every time he's pulled on the jersey. If he's away now then he deserves a good move, hopefully like others who have left 'Well for England in recent years we will see his game progress and see him get a look in in the Scotland squad.
  21. Excellent draw for us, good draw all round. Peat: "Right, now remember what I told you boys, if one pulls out a hot ball, the other pulls out a cold one." Biffy: "Naw, fuck the auld firm!" Yalday!!
  22. “What we do have to bear in mind is the importance of the funds we receive from TV deals, other media and sponsors. We are unfortunately already in a position where our best players can move to lower leagues in other countries for significantly increased wages and any further reduction in income from those sources will only make this problem worse. This will lead to a decline in the quality on the pitch. I don't understand why the 'money men' can't grasp how bad the current 'product' actually is. If the quality of professional football in Scotland falls any lower then Junior football may overtake it in terms of quality. It really is that bad and it isn't all that interests fans in going to matches. Among other factors, it is competition that keeps us going to football, and the reason Sky have been interested in the last few years is because rangers and celtic are as bad as each other which makes the title challenge 'interesting' to neutrals. If it was a one horse race the TV companies wouldn't care. If it was a 4or 5 horse race then you would see interest from fans of those teams and neutrals alike. Stop pandering to the old firm and grow a pair! Though I still don't see why clubs can't break away from the 'football on TV' era, cut their cloths accordingly, and get back to what football was made for, if we really need TV money it will come with a competitive league. The fans are the reason Scottish football got to where it got to, but I can see many of us outliving it due to a series of mistakes made with wealth and self interest the cause.
