Great post El Grew and I can only echo your thoughts. Traynor's view was along the lines of "Jim Gannon is out of order, who is he to say this about our referee's" whilst in the same breath "we all know something's been needing done about our referee's standards for a long time". Cock of the highest order who can't accept that someone has come into Scottish football with little prior knowledge of it and has summed it up for what it is - a complete farce that is in need of some radical changes. Okay, we haven't heard his views on the SFA, the league structure, grassroots football, the national team etc. but what he has now experienced: the shoddy refereeing and piss poor 'journalism' are things he has merely had the audacity to criticize. The only real shame here is that he is pissing against the wind and things will not change. Unfortunately for the good of our game, the words of Jim Traynor, Hugh Keevins, Chick Young (need I list more?) will be the opinions that are heard in our sham of a footballing culture after Jim Gannon gas left the country.

Anyone else noticed that any time Mark Reynolds is interviewed he's being asked if he wants a move to a bigger club? He handles the question pretty well but he's had so much practice at it now he's bound to have it down to a T.

Rumour on Pie and Bovril that Ross County are looking to take Steven McGarry on emergency loan until the end of December. Would make sense for all parties imo. McGarry has been a good player for us in his time here so far particularly in the season we finished 3rd. Maybe a run of games for Ross County and he will be knocking on the door of our first team in the New Year. Just a rumour, mind

It's going to happen soon. I've been hoping it will for years but I reckon over the next couple of years there will be a real challenge for the league. Hibs can play the h**s off the park, and if they do so this week and we play our part we will be chasing for top spot with a 1/4 of the season gone. Excting times ahead I think, and all the more funny that since the squirm have starting making all the noises of leaving Scotland again all they have done is embarrass themselves.

Aye think it was. I remember something in particular had happened but I just thought it was a goalfest they got. This was the match they were at, a month before the Aberdeen game. Always hated John Rowbotham but I was raging he called this game off.

I also seem to remember enjoying that game as we had the best of the play yet Aberdeen kept running up the park and scoring. Maybe that's just my selective memory, though. Was it this game that all the Bayern Munchen fans were at? I remember a fair few of them in the East Stand as they were playing Rangers the following night and after learning the tune to 'we fu-cking hate Rangers...' we were treated to a sing-song for the rest of the night. Again this could be selective memory, but I remember thinking 'they've come from Munich for some treat tonight', although it may have been some other high-scoring game at the 'Ark. EDIT: Can't have been that night as Munchen played at Ibrox on 20/08/99. Anyone know what game they turned up to at FP? Am I imagining all of this? Googling Bayern vs the old firm doesn't being up much dates.. Im pretty sure they were behind me in the East Stand though!

According to JG's interview a week or so ago we won't be having players on the posts. He prefers to have people marking areas inside the 18 yard box where the ball is likely to go rather than have people standing marking goalposts. It's a strategy I agree with, usually as long as there is someone standing at the corner of the 6 yard box to prevent low corners from being whipped in. The 2nd goal was a good finish from their player to be fair, rather than worrying about a man on the post though, I'd be making sure he doesn't get a clean header in the first place.
