  1. Fed up of all this now, anyone else fancy switching to supporting Port Vale?

    Scottish Fitba

Hearts, United, Killie and ICT are said to be against it. So it won't go through and the rest of the SPL can hang their heads in shame IMO. Part of me was looking forward to the death of Scottish football so the fans could say 'told you so' and we could start again. Even still, I am quickly 'falling out of love' as it were with Motherwell FC and all they seem to stand for. Despite making the right noises through press statements and internet forums I am starting to see that there is no substance to the 'community' club that they claim to be.
  3. Not a lot to say that hasn't already been said but if it goes to a ten team league then +1 onto the list of people who will not be back. Time for fans to start showing the amount of respect that we are given and since voting on a poll counts for nothing we are only left with voting with our feet. Good luck to all clubs when the 'support' dies from TV companies as they will not show an ounce of the support that fans have shown over the years when times do get tough.
  4. Still a bit raging that it's taken us 135 mins+ to start getting stuck in about one part of the old firm but this is good viewing now. Right intae them 'Well!!
  5. With Stuart McCall sitting in the stands part of me hopes we get as fucked as we deserve. Then he can see what shite we've been left with for a starting 11 and start doing a 'Gannon'
  6. I never thought I'd see the day but I left in the 39th minute today. I can honestly say that I have seen amateur teams play better than the team in claret and amber today and I didn't have to pay twenty quid of my hard earned to do so. I also didn't have to wait half an hour in a queue for tickets. You can probably relate this to the superb thread from a couple of weeks ago of people who are fed up of football in general... And I agree 100% with it. If there is to be any encouragement for people to go and watch football there was absolutely none on show for any Motherwell fans today. Aye sure, we'll always be there because it's habit, but it is complete dross and it will probably be a while until that habit takes effect on me again.
  7. That is true but in this instance there is a case for the prosecution. As others have said, it would have been a very silly way to get sent off when he just needed to put in a mistimed tackle and it would have been seen as any other sending off. But if there is family and friends betting on him getting sent off - and it was a stupid way to behave on a booking - then it seems awfully suspicious. Football is as corrupt as any other sport when it comes to the betting world and I hope nothing in Motherwell, or Scotland, has ever been 'fixed'... But it can happen.
  8. I don't understand many people sticking up for a player who, although it may turn out to be pish, may have got himself deliberately sent off whilst 2-1 down with ten minutes to play... The ref was a joke last night and if it was fixed then there's every chance it was him who was responsible but Jennings was on a booking from early doors so it would seem a bit 'irresponsible', shall we say, to chase down the ref to complain about a good tackle in the box. As for him treading carefully after being booked - to get better odds with ten minutes to go? I hope Jennings hasn't done anything daft as he has been a cracking player for us and is the type of player who fast becomes a fan favourite but the instant sticking up for someone who may have contributed to losing a game has confused me a bit.
  9. New manager time is exciting anyway. The candidates that stick their name up for the 'Well job is usually of a high standard, maybe cos they know they only need to be here a year then they can double their wages to save European champions from relegation...
  10. Can't believe the irony in wanting McGoo to get sacked for the last 16 months.
  11. Jut watched the Beeb interview - don't let the door hit yer arse on the way out broon! All this pish about not needing contracts and being grateful for the chance of management at his age is starting to leave a sour taste in the mouth now. You knew the budget at Fir Park when you took the job and the squad you have have taken you to the brink of Europa Cup league stages, a league cup semi and the dizzy heights on third in the SPL. To be holding the owner of the club at ransom over a transfer budget is more than a bit naughty, even worse so when it is to go to Aberdeen. I'm not bothered whether he stays or goes now, as McGhee did when Hearts were offering him a job at Tynecastle, he has courted them for long enough and has shown that the commitment that he speaks of from the players is something that he does not wish to practice himself.
  12. Craigy Broon widnae win us the league anyhow, we might as well just get that Pep Guardiola boy in then!
  13. Down to 4/5 at Billy Hills. That is slightly worrying...
  14. Found a daily record report from that game: Smith: "It was a poor decision by the linesman. I think the TV replays show quite clearly that Kris Boyd was onside. "Mr Murphy was quick to allow a Scott McDonald goal at Celtic Park last season. And he was quick to disallow that one tonight. Not too different from the paranoia that is evidently louder from the other side of Glasgow. As for the Gannon argument, it doesn't wash with me. Jim Gannon wasn't taking a huff with anyone over decisions that went against us. He merely pointed out what has been said numerous times in this thread - that the refereeing standards are not good enough and there is no communication between officials and clubs about the matches that have just been completed. He then went to the press as he had tried to communicate with Hugh Dallas and after he never got any replies he went public with how there are no channels to direct feedback on officials performances. Not quite what Neil Lennon has been stirring up the last few weeks.
  15. The refs have had enough of the wee fanny Looking like a good night - Not sure whether it's best to keep in touch with the bigot brothers or pull away from the rest of the pack. As long as we keep putting teams away the way we've been doing recently it's going to be a cracking season.
  16. Our best chance of getting into the final and even winning the cup is by getting Aberdeen in the semi's so I'll have that. I would fancy our chances against sellic but rangers will be a tougher task and facing them both at Hampden isn't something I fancy. So Aberdeen in the semi, sellic in the final and it will be a fine party in Motherwell! Anyway, anyone know what time the draws at?
  17. Highlights on the Beeb. Doesn't look like Cadamarteri's effort at the end crossed the line to me, better making sure of it anyway like Gow did Still can't tell if it was a penalty, the ball bounces away awkwardly but as I said to a mate just before it happened, Collum wouldn't be wanting to give any penalties unless he's 100% sure. Aberdeen's pen on the other hand looks very soft.
  18. Is OSB still on sale in Bandoni's? I live just up the road but never really go in.
  19. I think the point was that a league playoff would be just as 'fair' as a relegation one. I don't have a problem with the playoffs if it's between 2nd in the 1st division and 2nd bottom on the premier. England's playoffs are a bit of a joke and are purely for a commercial benefit rather than a sporting one. On the league proposals, I'm a bit worried about the BBC report that the favoured idea is a 6/8 or 8/6 split after one round of games. That would be worse than the current setup imo and we would probably quite often find ourselves with nothing to play for after 26 games. With a few mid-table teams who's fans are already fed up of that I wouldn't wish much more years of worse than that on them. IMO the best layout is a 16 or 18 team league, where each teams plays each other twice and that is it. That may not add up for the money men, but if clubs are really interested in the 'good of the game' then they will look beyond how much gate money they can get in and go back to basics with regards to league associations, pro youth, the national team, competition, sharing of gate money, standing at games, obscene players wages etc. Otherwise, league reconstruction will just be another failed attempt at 'bringing the crowds back'.

    Jamie Murphy

See Jamie Murphy scored the opening goal for the Under 21's tonight. It's currently 1-1 in Iceland at Half Time.
  21. Elliott's been in decent form of late, hope to fuck he doesn't score against us.
  22. Decided to put this on tonight since they're 'supporting' us this week.. What a load of shite. Just shite. I've gave it a few chances but fucking hell, I'm lost for words.
  23. Might have been posted elsewhere but Odense vs Copenhagen should be appearing on IraqGoals at 5pm.
  24. I fancy us to win today, or at least get a well deserved draw. I think we'll be up for it and if we can find the net early on I reckon we'll win by a couple. However if United get a man or two sent off I fear we will lose 2-1 or 2-0.
