  1. Remember last summer when everyone was behaving much the same about Campbell? Get another season under your belt chat. The last one wasn't as successful as the first. Just bear that in mind. Also the one thing that many posters on here fail to acknowledge as a factor is what the player wants. All the talk of swiping away a 2m offer here, a loan back to us being on the table or any affiliation to the club influencing a decision over income is short sighted. Any offer the club won't be looking to accept may also come with a large multiplication of Turnbull's salary. Don't ignore how seeing Jake Hastie on a mint, 15 miles away for a 10 game purple patch may irk. I do think Turnbull isn't a clown and isn't surrounded by them so I feel confident he will move when its right for everyone concerned.
  2. Would appreciate it if you could qualify that statement, evidence and how you're qualified to make such a critique? For example if you double up posting on here and running a FTSE company or are commercial director at Barcelona etc. it may carry more sway.
  3. If Clarke had called him up he could have asked McGinn over crushed avocado and toast at breakfast if he regretted not going to Celtic. With a winning goal in the play off, playing every week in arguably the most entertaining league, salary jump and now a new one to match, not being hated by 1/2 of Glasgow (granted 1/4 will always despise you because of your secondary school) and your previous club fans .... I'm sure he'd steer him away. OK he's maybe gonna miss out on smoke machines, light shows and 60k unwashed singing you'll not walk alone in Europe but rather than jump on the first wave, jump on the best one. Turnbull has age, plaudits from peers plus the jorno's, stats and potential on his side that others such as Moult, Randolph, etc. didn't. He had good advisors around him at the club. However 3 months till the window closes, plenty of time for a bidding war. Let the powers that be keep on stoking the fire.
  4. What I don't get is how a non story such as this has managed to stir up 10-15 posts on here. Insight to Scottish tabloid hack's day: Wake Up Clean fathers cum out of bellybutton Gargle with whisky (Aldi) Get to work and see what's bubbling away Ask yourself "can I wangle an Old Firm angle" onto any story, person or event Consult professional ethics if story is valid or truthful 2 seconds later .... raise a wry grin and internally call yourself "a dick" Ask Janice from accounts to name a number between 1 and 5 (she picks 1) Ask sandwich boy what month he was born in (February) .... now you have £1.2m Write "article"
  5. There's a couple of fucking kippers on here
  6. Let’s just emphasis the difference between “should” and “will”, and which one was used.
  7. As another poster conveyed, if he sported blue and white stripes then he'd be a shoe in. That for me doesn't make his decision correct or justifiable. Having "full cap international" on his growing CV just helps with the marketing and value. I don't really get Clarke's logic here, pick players he has an intimate knowledge of at the expense of players he doesn't. I know it's not friendlies but Cyprus should be procession and Belgium will be a hiding.
  8. On the money. I think we saw last season (well certainly in the first half) that Robinson has a preferred system and will often persevere with it for a good while before having to make changes, it seems more likely that squad availability rather than opposition with be the catalyst. It came as more of a surprise as the 1/4 season he had from McGhee's departure, he was not afraid to change things up massively. Often at early stages of games to have more of an impact. I'm thinking of unenforced first half substitutions which stand out because he got a lot of praise on here for it. Certainly before Christmas my perception was many subs were made from 70 minutes on, I may be incorrect and they may not have been as influential which may cloud my memories. He now seems to favour a 4-3-2-1. Johnson is a from what I've seen a pure penalty box poacher while Scott has an engine, youthful exuberance and strength on his side. I don't know if he can be expected or is yet able to occupy place in midfield/wing with free reign to attack when a break is on. However I would have thought at some point over the past year they would have been placed together even in a bounce game when fringe players would line up and play similar to that Saturday's opposition.
  9. The we've just suffered a poor result dog whistle appears to be getting blown again and catching the attention of the usual suspects
  10. If he goes and does what he did for us then he'll be a hero in Gorgie or Pittodrie by Christmas. Don't underestimate what his running and movement opened up for our other players. However he was purchased and played as a striker and misfired in that regard repeatedly.
  11. I bet you're great fun in the pub David ......
  12. Erm no yourself, sorry for not continually quoting as you do, I assumed you'd be able to see that it was this statement I was questioning. We'll agree to disagree shall we? Hastie and Turnbull's seasons have been very different and consequently have resulted in different paths as to their careers and futures. However if their impacts to the team were reversed then I think we could be seeing a very different outcome.
  13. Of course it matter, you seriously trying to convey that if Hastie returned from Alloa and continued his form from there which by all accounts was average kicked on and managed to get a few starts with us and the odd goal Rangers would parted with 400k for him?
  14. I don't agree, Hastie's involvement was explosive where as Turnbull has been consistent and building from one week to another. If before he put pen to paper, Turnbull scored in almost every match then its quite feasible his head could have been turned and we'd be rueing his imminent departure.
  15. I think back to the Cup Final last year and Bigi comes on in the second half, puts his foot on the ball and half this forum think he's the answer to our prayers. Robinson castigated for not playing him from the start, etc. For that reason some should appreciate one swallow does not make a summer and while it would be nice to see one of our own get that move that propels him and the clubs financial security I think we need to chill out at times. If I was a scout I'd pay particular attention to player of the year awards, being voted top by your teammates counts for a lot as they see that person week out in training and in games. The fact he had a clean sweep at 18 is remarkable and looks like he'll get the SPFL young player of the year. Means we will get bids this summer. Flow/Robinson probably have a number they have in their mind. Robinson will know that whatever we get, a portion will go to paying off legacy debts so he will have to replace him with a fraction of what we receive. So if that is say £2m and there's a £1.5m on the table with a health sell on clause but 10x salary jump Turnbull may find himself asking why not and looking to Hastie who had a run of half a dozen good games and is probably on more money already.
  16. Surprising to see that nobody has factored in an offer coming in for him thats below the clubs valuation but theres a healthy wage being dangled. There's a lot to be said for that unsettling or asking to be transferred. As I pointed out before, a lot of the same chat on here Turnbull is getting is akin to what Cadden got in the aftermath of the playoff's. 7 figure plus transfer fees and alike. Here we are a few uyears down the line and combined with injury and being played in a different role it is felt he stagnated. I wonder if he and his advisors think taking the money and running over getting a full season under the belt and going for more the following summer would be a best idea with hindsight.
  17. So in his pre-match interview Robbo mentioned 1 player offered lower terms based on appearances, 2 offered the same money and 3 offered improvements. Anyone know who's who? I assumed McHugh for reduced, Frear and Main for same and Cadds, Gorrin and Aldred (is he free this summer from Bury?) Sadly Johnson released as I don't think he did anything wrong other than need to play with a strike partner.
  18. If he can help cement 7th and the extra prize money that goes with it I'd use him as much as is needed. If he is brought on and scores a 89th minute winner to secure the extra £62,500 then why not. It bumps up our return for him even more. To suggest otherwise is churlish and petty.
  19. His surname with the accent above the e ...... Fané, offers a plethora of one liners, chants and choice shouts if he does sign. I can't wait.
  20. How the tables have turned. While I'm not glad he's moved on and think if he'd maybe opted for something closer to Andy Robertson's career path then he may have had an option for greater things. I certainly don't wish him any ill will as long as he's mature and respectful to where he got his grounding and boost up from. However I find the level of double standards by posters on here astounding. If you had a chance to quadruple your salary, albeit it in a more competitive environment would you stay where you are? I sincerely fucking doubt it. So because he's a footballer there has to be a loyalty? Players with the very odd exception are mercenaries, its a short career and they have to make hay while the sun is shining. The planets have aligned for him, partly through good luck and party through hard work and endeavour. All those wishing him failure will and bringing up Slane, yeah I'm sure he's not oblivious to the stories and I'm sure he also recognises that a purple patch has earned him this move along with his contract status (which I doubt anyone at Motherwell would have had the foresight to foresee, we've had as many duds as inspired extensions). He plays alongside Cadden and after his performances in the playoff's I wonder if he rue's signing a contract extension opposed to moving on then or the season after for more money which he could have inevitably done.
