Kelly Casey and spittal should’ve been dropped weeks ago. The manager has no spine

Too many players guaranteed a game regardless of performance levels. I’d personally drop Kelly and Casey to see if we could more out of then. Both culpable for a number of goals in last 4 days. spittal and slattery are another two who play even if way off the boil. Too many not at it tonight. Even miller looked like he’d never seen a football in his life tonight.

A lot of talk about gents role in their third goal yesterday and nobody while argue he should’ve done much better. But he was hung out to dry by mugabi and Casey, the latter in particular. Casey seems to have been taught at the Colin hendry school of defending, chasing the ball all over the park. Looks great when it works but incredibly foolish when not. There was no reason for him to be so positionally poor at that goal. That said he’s been more good than otherwise so will cut him some slack. Butcher must start on Wednesday if remotely fit. also thought Kelly was poor at first goal.

It’s a results driven business and the emergence of the nations league has reduced the likelihood of fringe / reserve players getting game time for all but the nations with the biggest talent pool. do I think it was unfortunate that Kelly never got a sniff against turkey? Of course I do. But well fans would be the first to complain if a players attitude dropped below standard if not playing for Motherwell. So I’m struggling to fathom why it would be considered fair game at international level. Thankfully it would appear that Liam Kelly has some professional integrity.

People don’t realise that moult on a pay per play deal still causes mayhem from a budgeting perspective. We should have moved on years ago. Hopefully those in charge have similar thoughts
