My Celtic supporting colleagues in work are confirming it's a done deal, they all seem to be delighted with the deal.
-
All this angst and sudden outpouring of animosity towards the board and club because we sold a player we all knew would never start the new season in a well shirt. Does anyone really think if we had waited till transfer deadline day we would suddenly get a £5 million bid for Turnbull from a top English team, or would it be the same as we have now, let's be honest there was never going to be a bidding war. So what difference does it make selling him now or 6 weeks from now, when there might not have been a deal on the table. If the figures are to be believed it's a club record transfer fee, with good add-ons, that could see the club debt free and on a stable financial footing for years to come, and there are still people moaning about it.
-
Pish, the club always needs money to clear debts, improve the stadium, develop more Turnbull's etc etc so all they have done is maximise the return on a very sellable asset.
-
Have a look at yourself, do you think for a minute that if there had been better or similar offers from English clubs they would have said no we want to sell him to Celtic FFS I think not. Lots of chat about interest from England but obviously no firm offers, so he's off to Celtic, as they obviously met our asking price, £3m plus add-ons which if he fulfills his potential could double that figure, so potential life changing cash for the club.
-
He will be loaned out every season till his contract ends, he will be lucky if he ever gets a game for the 1st team at Ibrox, but I daresay he was warned about that before he signed.
-
Aye right spending more than our budget we tried that policy and all it returned was administration, we need to operate within our budget. So it's bring in players that don't cost us much and sell them in if they do well for a profit, it has served us well recently, Moult, Kipre, Johnson, Heneghan all earned us big profits so I think the current strategy is working well.
-
Agreed, I have sat in the pod for years and it is well past its best, catering points, seating, access, PA system, and the unfinished bit at the end, they are all not up to modern standards. But that said those criticisms could be applied to just about every ground in Scotland, the view from the pod is great though

ok then if you know for definite,,

Committing to pay a player a no doubt decent wad of cash over 6 months or so is not a token gesture, plus it's the decent thing to do. I am pretty sure the club have been advised that Tanner will be able to play at this level, if not why offer the deal. It might not work out but the player deserves every chance to restart his career, so I think he will get game time.
-
It's a possibility, Tanner, Campbell, who knows, but I can't see the club offering Tanner a short term deal to prove his fitness and then not playing him. So it a squad rotation problem for SR to manage, happens in all the top teams
-
We might also have Tanner back as the club are giving him a chance to prove his fitness, so we might have competition for midfield as I assume , Sloth, Turnbull and Polworth will be 1st choice starters
-
They have been trying to do that for the last 2 years, he is injured far too often , not even worth a punt.
-
Not stooping to anybody's levels, merely pointing out a relevant public domain fact regarding a club that may be a potential buyer for our prize asset, no further discussion in it was required or expected
-
They can't afford him, they need to save all their cash in case there are any compensation claims to settle if they get linked with the ongoing Celtic boys club abuse scandal
-
Hope we tell them to jog on , you should never sell your best players to a rival team, where they can come back and score against you, not counting Hastie in that as he will never see the rangers 1st team on a regular basis. Unless of course they offer silly money, for far too long we have let good players go for feck all, so I hope this time the club grows a set and starts the bidding at English rates.
-
that's a straight red Dave
-
. What a tosser, have a look at yourself with posts like that.
-
I agree it's not controversial but the media are all over comments from both of the ugly sisters players, so you would have thought he would have known better. Make the headlines with your football not I'll advised comments.
-
I see Hastie has already started to get himself noticed by the media, not for his football but alleged drunken comments " that he is at Ibrox to stop 10 in a row", Jake Hastie taunts Celtic as Rangers new boy filmed declaring he'll stop 10-in-a-row http://flip.it/gI.3zg

Hearing rumours today about Ross McCormack, apparently if true because Aston Villa got promoted to the English premiership his wages jump to 70k a week FFS, villa have been trying to dump him for the last 2 seasons
-
I will be very disappointed if we don't beat all 4 of them,
-
East Kilbride would be a crap away day, the K park is in the middle of a country park no decent pubs anywhere near it,, plus it's a shitety wee ground
-
If his Wikipedia stats are anything to go by that might not be a bad thing, 136 career appearances since 2012 and not a single goal in any competition , so not a regular starter and not a goal scorer, were we seriously interested in him or was it all just rumour and speculation?
-
Only if anybody listens to Willie miller or Richard Gordon, Aberdeen will suit him Dave, an underachieving player in a team that promises a lot but never delivers anything
-
I see the BBC gossip page reporting that it's a done deal for Main signing for Aberdeen
