There is a big bonus for the cup winners this year, straight into the EL playoff round, with the losers dropping into the group stage of the new Europa conference league, so guaranteed European group stage football for the winners. If either of tbe ugly sisters win it, 3rd place in the league will take up the cup place, so even though we have had a shit season so far, we are technically still in with a chance of European group stage football, so the cup needs to be played.

Installing safe standing seats would involve major building work, new concrete footings and safety rails, along with the folding seats etc, plus the Hunter stand roof Is quite low so I don't think they have sufficient space, so all these issues and extra costs are probably not worth it for a hundred or so fans at any given game. It's much cheaper and quicker to rip out the old seats and just bolt down new ones in the same place.

Compared to other parts of Motherwell the craig site is positively exotic, a nice new modern wholly enclosed stadium (see Almondvale) , good transport links, plenty of parking, etc would be great for the club, but given the current state of the economy, I can't see it happening and I am not sure if there is a desire from the current board to relocate.
