Given the general shite performance of the ref in the game, I think an appeal might be justified in this case.

I can't really see the difference between killie getting an emergency loan from the government due to covid or going to a bank for the same. If they need it to keep the club going then I assume it will be used for that, however if they want to use some of it to fund new players then that's there choice, it's not a new concept a team fielding a new player or two financed on borrowed cash. As long as they are prepared to ser ice the loans and are comfortable with the debt then let them get on with it, I would suggest in the Current climate its not the best way to run a club, but its their choice.

Did he start every game in those 4.5 years? Was he injured at any time? Was he being kept out by a better player? So unless you know the full story stats are meaningless.
