Agreed, I have sat in the pod for years and it is well past its best, catering points, seating, access, PA system, and the unfinished bit at the end, they are all not up to modern standards. I am pretty sure the club have been advised that Tanner will be able to play at this level, if not why offer the deal. It might not work out but the player deserves every chance to restart his career, so I think he will get game time.

It's a possibility, Tanner, Campbell, who knows, but I can't see the club offering Tanner a short term deal to prove his fitness and then not playing him. So it a squad rotation problem for SR to manage, happens in all the top teams

We might also have Tanner back as the club are giving him a chance to prove his fitness, so we might have competition for midfield as I assume , Sloth, Turnbull and Polworth will be 1st choice starters

Don't think it was naive at all, all he said was a club record fee, which if I recall would be anything above the £1.75 million we got for O'Donnell, so could be £5 m. We are not even sure if he will be away, as that assumes there are big clubs out there willing to spend lots of cash on a great prospect but in reality an unproven player,.
