  1. advantage with Lamie is he's suited to the left hand side of central defence. I don't know enough about Ojala to know if he'll replace Muabi or Lamie.
  2. lots of positives - moving forward we have several options and plenty of people who'll cause teams issues. We need to learn how to hold onto a lead, whether it's change shape, hold onto the ball etc. hopefully that will come with experience and time. Plenty of reasons to be optimistic.
  3. Pretty much the strongest team we could field at the moment. Only slight surprise is Mugabi replacing O'Connor- purely due to lack of game time.
  4. Appreciate it will take time to gel a new squad together. That said good players tend to gel more quickly. Kelly, O'Jana, O'Conner, Slattery, Woolery & VanVeen all look to have a bit of quality. Feeling cautiously optimistic for the season, albeit may take a few games to get fully up to speed.
  5. I can see several reasons to make him captain - he's not a Hartley type but he's a Scottish international model pro who works his socks off He has a level head - ideal person to speak to a ref during a game. help push his value up give him another reason to stick around.
  6. I thought O'Hara was forced to isolate due to Covid but was making up my own conclusion. I rate him , felt he was better first season when he didn't have to swap position every week.
  7. for the first time in a while I believe we've made some pretty solid signings. Players who when fit and ready will go straight into first pick. We have 25 in a first team squad - we should have enough. I don't believe we need a create midfielder -I'd be happy for players who can pass to one another and do simple things well. We have Donnelly, O'Hara, Maguire, Slatterly who can all do a decent job. With Crawford, Grimmie, Parker all able to cover as/when we draft in extra players. Play 3 of them together with Watt in the hole and I reckon we'll be fine.
  8. that young lad far right looks decent - he'd solve out left back problem
  9. thought O'Connner looked decent - albeit not properly tested. Like all our centre half he'd benefit from a holding midfielder to take the ball as precision in finding a fellow man is wanting. Would suspect Mugabi needs some match practise to get up to speed .
  10. Championship is likely to be his level. Good luck to him.
  11. truthfully I've wanted a change of formation but to a 3-4-3 as it doesn't solve the problem. With our current players I could see a 3-5-2 or 4-3-1-2 combo work. FWIW I thought Maguire and Donnelly both played well albeit they were left exposed due to the formation.
  12. When both he and Watt came on they made a big difference. Both able to foot their foot on the ball and link play. The more players like that the better. Thought Van Veen and Woolery showed glimpses - clearly to early to gel together but some flashes of decent skill.
  13. please go to the training ground and learn how to pass to people within 5-10 yards of one another rather than just punt and hope. Good result, a few players look ok - need to improve how we connect as a team -appreciate new players etc but we should be a lot better than this.
  14. this has been utter gash again - can't help but wonder what we do in training.
  15. so many options but FFS we should get the subs on
  16. perfect match - they are brutal to listen to and the team are fairly brutal to watch.
  17. would expect us to have much better ball retention - we play long way too often - with a 3-4-3 you'd expect more passing and progress up the park as a team
  18. Woolery was excellent - his pace and turn in the box was top notch
  19. there's no obvious gulf between the clubs - would be nice to see us hold the ball and start passing to one another
  20. indeed - Mcginley is one of Arrans most dangerous players
  21. I like the idea of both wingbacks starting much further up the park - gives us natural width and get a few balls in the box.
  22. looking forward to this - that could quickly change but very happy to see fans in FP
  23. I don't mind if we don't sign a creative midfield player. I do mind us having midfielders who can't bloody pass though. We have wingbacks - we could easily use them with a 3-5-2 / 5-3-1 We have Watt who can site behind as long as we play a 4-4-1-1 or a 4-3-1-2 suspect we have decent forwards and we have at least 2 decent midfielders with Donnelly and Ohara. Overall the biggest issues have been the formation we play and the players we either opt for are are forced to play. 2-3 more decent signings will clearly help.
