very much agree. In truth we should let every player who's out of contract leave at the end of the season, don't think there's anyone who would be a certain start in first 11. It still leaves a huge amount of very average players on longer contracts - some creative wheeling and dealing needed to offload them as well. 3-4 quality players right through the spine of the team would make a massive difference.
-
Generally see a difference in tone and hoping the penny has dropped . we do the ugly side of the game really well. just give us something to cheer . Here’s hoping
-
Cracking result . unlikely to catch Utd but statistically still in it. Very odd season , it’s felt a hard slog yet here we are in 5th. like most of Scottish footy we need an injection of quality and good old entertainment . fingers crossed we can take a few more points

Not convinced that we should ever play both Efford and Shields together irrespective of injuries. Play 1 of them - Shields preferably and have an extra man in midfield.
-
Can't see anything changing - it's part of who he is, a hot head. If we was more consistent he would be with a bigger club than us commanding a very decent salary. Although frustrating I can't help but warm to him. A little bit like Ainsworth, on his day can do brilliant things but a frustrating bugger most of the time.

with injures we could try something completely bonkers - put woolery in as wingback and give him space to go charging up the flank. A 3-5-1-1 formation may suit us. Hope Tierney is fit - he's the one likely to get on the end of something.
-
He made a lot of sense when talking about the long term direction of the club and the fact that over the last 20-30 years we have had many periods where results were poor and we need to keep progressing. Good to see him being open, critical of himself for things he's got wrong and equally deserves credit from where we were last January.

really enjoyed the video and pleased to see people like Kerr, Hammel , Clarky all having influence in the future players. If they can find younger versions of themselves I'd be delighted
-
McCart has been excellent every time Ive seen him - I believe he's better than any defender we currently have . Suspect it depends on what happens with St.J come the end of the season. We must offer similar salary etc.
-
Suspect he's judged on what he's achieved v's how it's been achieved. He achieved top 6 - tick Had Aberdeen & Hibs delivered what's expected of them we wouldn't be top 6 and it would be questionable. I'd be happy to see us part ways but can't see us sacking a manger for being top 6 irrespective of any run of form /style of play.

Not GA's fault, he's not changed approach since day 1. The club extended GA - they saw the poor games each week but were delighted with the points. We were riding our luck big time in the first half of the season. Shame on them and not likely to change before xmas.
-
was ambitiously hoping as the season for QOTS was finished we'd be be able to get them back for a few games.
-
he's a young defender who got injured and was loaned out - playing for a poor team doesn't make him poor. Id be keen to give O'Conner and Max J a run out between now and the end of the season to see if they are good enough.
-
we need improvements in the back line for sure and agree all could/should be replaced (albeit I've a soft spot for S'OD if we played a 3-5-2) What takes the jam out my donut is resigning players not good enough to hold down the first team slot. We've done that with Carrol, McGinley, Fox, Roberts and to be controversial Mugabi - we need to stop giving out contracts to those who don't cut it.
-
before xmas it was a 2 horse race between Watt and Kelly. Only 1 remains.
-
top 6 is an excellent outcome. No quibbles with the outcome of our league position. Anything higher will be an even bigger bonus. How we got there was brutal and will continue to earn debate until we get some form of entertainment.
-
brilliant shape for the team. Several could be swapped but I think that shape would suit the players we have.
-
GA does the ugly stuff well - otherwise we’d be bottom. We win a lot of 2nd balls etc and don’t often get pumped . Kelly and Watt are the key 2 players - without either we’d never have made top 6 as the second half of the season has proven . like all managers he’s made some very poor singings but equally he’s made several decent signings . my issue is threefold 1) anti football - I can never recall a Motherwell team with so little ability to do basics 2) his arrogance - ranging from having to listen to his pre and post match interviews to his stubborn tactics . I can’t help but believe our better players get dropped for months because they challenge him . 3) resigning - all mgrs will sign players who won’t work out but ffs don’t re sign them . Carrol, mcginley , maguire , roberts x2 . I wouldn’t have him on the basis I don’t believe he’ll be good for the club long term BUT I don’t believe for a minute he should be sacked . Unless theres signs of gross misconduct how could any employer sack a manager who’s performing better than the core requirements. We knew what we were getting . A manager with a good points ratio with all clubs he’s been at. He’s also been known to be his way or high way hence why other clubs punted him. in short those in charge have got what we knew we would . We’ve got the league position we wanted . It’s sadly just now how we wanted it . Until we end up 9th or worse we won’t get rid. at the moment that could easily be before Xmas - depends if we make real quality signings or not .

Id be happy to see us testing out some new idea's. example - tackle some of the obvious issues we have we have no natural wingbacks fit /good enough. Tierney is a handful but much better sitting back off the strikers and finding space. Other than shields we have no natural striker who's fit. As such play to our current strengths 3 at the back 1 out and out striker That leaves lots of variations to test out players and add strength to midfield . We have players like Slattery, Donnelly, O'Hara, Goss. Woolery , Tierney, Shaw . You could play 6 of them in the same team rather than picking the usual 3-4. I think we'd offer a hell of a lot more than what I've seen this calendar year by killing off the 4 at the back and 3 upfront as we simply don't have the players to make it work
-
I’m with you Yorky and have been for a while . what I can’t get past though is we are top 6. I can’t see us parting ways with any mgr who brings in top 6, .
-
Defence is indeed rotten . I don’t believe Mugabi is the answer in any position . An honest man mountain but he lacks finesse , a bull in a China shop. Carrol , mcginely , grimmie aren’t good enough . S’OD - is good enough but we’d need to play a back 3 + 2 wing backs to make it work . ojala has lost his way . Solholm - is ok . I’d be ok to keep him . we brought bite bold in Jan - what a waste of money . I’d rather bring back young Johnstone and Oconner from loan and see if they’re ready . At least both are young and shown promise

We struggled to raise our game against Livi to get in the top 6. We looked poor and it was the game that mattered, we only turned up in the final 20 mins. Didn't expect anything today in terms of performance, don't expect anything for rest of season. We are a hard team to watch, albeit made it into the top 6 due to Aberdeen and Hibs also being bags of shite this season. Hard to see how we're moving forward as a club at the moment.

Feel for Maloney - he seems a purist in terms of how to play football and is a likeable chap - a bit raw in terms of experience but that was a known. Jack Ross I thought was an excellent mgr and someone most clubs in the SPL would be delighted with. Overall thought is that those running Hibs need to take a long hard look ate themselves.

I really like having 'Well men around. Suppose bit of an idealist but having guys like Lasley, Hammell around is right up my street. Appreciate it's a bit of job for the boys but over the years having people like Craggs, Lasley Hammell, Faddy etc who understood and gave a shit about the club is IMO a good thing. Always felt Philiben and Kirvokipic got a bit of a raw deal . Bottom line I'd be happy to keep familiar faces around .

don't think you're that hazy - pretty much spot on. Why we persevere with players who weren't quite good enough is frustrating. Roberts for example - why we resigned him twice is lost on me. Magloire would be the same. No harm in testing people but when proven not be good enough for starting position we should move on.
