  1. The recent signings give us way more flexibility to change the system. 3-5-2, 4-4-2 could easily be an option. Given we don't have decent wingers we could make more use of our wingbacks wh are both decent going forward.
  2. I agree with your point re being able to bring in decent youngsters and over the years we've been able to do that pretty well. Having players with an affiliation to the club pays off. Guys like Hammel and Lasley found their level at FP and may not be world beaters but they cared deeply and a fan that's what I want more of. Don't need the next Turnbull or guys who get signed for xx million (although thats nice) but players who care about the club. From what I can see on the current front Johnston is the the most likely to cut it. I'd have no issue brining him into the first team and play SO'D in front of him .
  3. I've always liked Grimmy. I'd like to see him in right midfield. he would cover the RB position when the wingback pushes up and give much better balance. With Grimmie, Ohara, Slattery we could do with a really decent left sided midfielder and we'd be decent in midfield.
  4. No, I mean I don't believe many are showing that they're better than what we had. Normally you see glimpses of players being decent and there aint too many signs
  5. Watt and Grimmy made the difference. Got to say it's mainly the previous mgrs signings that are looking good. Kelly. Lamie. Grimmy, Ohara, Watt were amongst out better players. Slattery , Amaluzor both have promise but overall its was previous signings that make the backbone of the team.
  6. Time will tell. It's his second game and the defensive partnership was quite different to last week. From playing with Lamie to having him/Lamie/Mugabi. We either need to play with 3 centre backs and forget about wingbacks or play a back 4. Today we tried a mx of both, which just didn't work. Either way we need a form of stability. But like you said the jury is out.
  7. delighted with the win - it was only ever going to be ugly. We had 10-15 mins of decent play the start of each half today against a very poor Livy team. I don't blame it all on not having the players. The mgr has brought in 9 players and resigned xx amount more. GA needs to take accountability for the style of play + formations + the very predicable set pieces.
  8. happy with 3 points. was never going to be pretty
  9. this is a joke - how many centre halfs can we have on the park at the same time.
  10. WTF - looks like we're moving to a 6-2-2 formation
  11. good time to replace Woolery with VanVeen
  12. power puff finish - you'd expect him to have a bit if power.
  13. delighted to get a goal from a short corner but FFS mix it up a bit
  14. Would like to see VV on and take off either Justin or Woolery. Also get back to what worked in the first 20 mins with Carrol/Grimmy pushing further up the park,
  15. for me the basics are missing - we allow poor teams to have c60% possession -end up sitting with 5 men in defence without ever getting tight. For their goal - we didn't get close to Forrest.
  16. good first 20 mins when we kept to the 3-4-3. Seem to very quickly drop to a 5-2-3 and getting over run in midfield and sitting very deep. Inviting Livy to come at us.
  17. very soft goal - forrest it causing all the danger and no one tight to him. Thought Mugabi got sold a very easy dummy there.
  18. neither have been missed today. Team are all playing well.
  19. good to see Carrol and Grimmie have been pushed into midfield. We are much stronger in midfield than of late.
  20. Even worse it can become a 5-2-3 - which happened in the cup game It's essential that we push Grimmie and Carrol forward enough and that we keep Watt central or just behind the front 2. In short make it work in midfield
  21. suspect he's on his way out. I liked Kelly's update the other day but wondered why it was him and not S'OD - it was an updated you'd expect from a captain.
  22. selection puzzles me most weeks - looks like only 2 midfielders unless we're playing Grimmie in right midfield. Personally not seen enough from either Woolery or Amaluzor to convince me to play them ahead of VV or Shields. Hopefully they start shining today.
  23. We need victories to build confidence - the sooner we get a win on the board the better - particularly against teams like Livi. today is great opportunity for get max points.
  24. I was thinking the same thing. £12 to watch on a stream is plenty. Appreciate they want encourage punters into the games but living in Yorkshire makes it difficult.
