We are seeing this nearly every week now, these lengthy protracted delays to goal checks. If the VAR refs believe there is an offside or a foul, just tell the referee to go and check the monitor straight away. None of this humming and hawing with the ref standing with his hand over his ear, just get him to do the check and make the decision there and then. It is absolutely ruining football and you just don’t know whether to actually celebrate a goal now.

I’m not interested in what Kilmarnock and Dundee Utd do, only what we do and until we are mathematically safe and cannot finish 11th then absolutely no way should be be fielding youngsters as opposed to our strongest available eleven.

Me too. Had we lost that game and finished bottom six then Alexander would have been gone by the end of the season, if not before, and we would have had the chance to appoint a manager and give him an entire pre season to get his own players in. It’s safe to assume that Stevie Hammell wouldn’t have been in contention for the job if it had become available at the beginning of the close season and this season would probably have been a whole lot different. We would also have been spared Sligo, though I know that some Motherwell fans enjoyed it as they got to go on a ‘European tour’ to the tropical and sunny streets of…erm…Ireland…where they drank loads of beer and made lots of new friends. Cos that’s what fitba is all about eh? 🙄

This is why talk of us already being safe and suggestions that we field the youngsters today are absolutely ludicrous. Apart from the points gap being cut should the scenario of Killie and Dundee Utd both win today, there is also the issue of confidence and momentum. Both of them would be hugely lifted whilst we would be the opposite and panic could well begin to set in.

I sincerely hope it’s just you and that SK and the rest of the management team aren’t thinking along those lines because that is an absolutely ludicrous and extremely naive way of thinking. First of all as I keep saying we are NOT safe yet. Not mathematically and not basically. We are not safe and we need to guarantee our mathematical safety as soon as possible so to just chuck in the youngsters against a side fighting for their own safety would be complacent from the teams point of view and potentially damaging for the youth players if they flopped badly and we lost the game. Saturday is going to be one tough game and that’s with us playing our strongest 11 so we certainly can’t afford to just field youngsters.

A great kit and a great player right enough. The best kits we’ve had in recent years were the 17/18 ‘Kipre’ kit, last seasons and the home top from the covid season, especially minus the sponsor. Only claret shorts would have improved that one. I’m hoping we return to a more traditional kit next season but you just never know with us. You wouldn’t put it past us to bring out a half and half front top with an all white back and white shorts in a supposed ‘throwback’ to the jester kit we wore when we lost on penalties to Alloa in the League Cup in the mid 90s.

Agree about white shorts but I know that some do like them. For me a Motherwell FC home kit should look like this.
