Admit it, we’re chronically shit at throw-ins. It’s the Motherwell way.
-
From the Record: 15:04 SCOTT BURNS Lamie could depart Steelmen Ricki Lamie (Image: SNS Group) Ricki Lamie could leave Motherwell before the close of the window. The experienced defender is attracting interest from the Scottish Premiership and lower leagues in England. Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell is reluctant to let Lamie go but knows he is at an age where he wants to be playing regular first-team football. The 30-year-old has found himself on the bench at Fir Park this season and that has sparked the interest from elsewhere. Motherwell could let Lamie go if that interest is hardened up over the last two weeks of the transfer window. Lamie has been at Motherwell since 2020 and signed a new deal last summer. Kettlewell has reshaped his squad on a shoestring this summer. He has previously admitted that he is unlikely to do any further business unless he can move other players on

Forget corners and free kicks, never in my life have I seen a Motherwell team able to take a successful throw-in. We're just shit at it.

Biereth was limping like he’d been kneecapped on Saturday. Add that to his aforementioned fitness levels, which is why he didn't start against St Mirren, I doubt we'll see him next weekend.

Most folks are probably pissed about yesterday because Kettlewell fielded a different and objectively weaker team (due to Soare's injury and trying to rest Miller) for a one-off knockout game. That was unusual for him. That is, given that he always stuck to what worked last season, it's so annoying that he decided to change quite a lot yesterday (McGinn from RCB to LWB, Casey from LCB to RCB, Blaney into LCB, and Davor for Miller) instead of slotting McGinley/Wilson into Soare's LWB position and continuing with Miller. Our collective mentality around cup games is pathetic, as is our general form over the years. A club like ours should treat cup games as do-or-die situations. Kettlewell fucked it yesterday.

I thought you were the big joker here?!

I'm talking about his performance so far in the transfer window, not his form record, which is excellent. Yesterday was a significant blip, highlighting rare weaknesses in his decision-making and the lack of options due to his current transfer business bringing in mostly injury-prone gambles and wildcards. His success last season was built on two young, dynamic wing-backs, a creative/holding midfielder, and a goalscorer. None of them have adequately been replaced, and now we're relying on a 16-year-old and a loanee. As others have said, it's concerning that we've not signed anyone proven at our level. But, as I said, he has 11 days left to do more wheeling and dealing.

Kettlewell has 11 days left to prove he's not a one-hit (i.e. half-season) wonder.
-
Lots of under-performers today, but Kettlewell totally fucked it. His post match interview on BBC Scotland was just excuses about the ref. Let’s hope he learns.

Butcher’s main position is defensive mid, although, like Paton, he’s also injured.
-
Do you think St Mirren may have away tickets to sell tomorrow outside the ground immediately before the game?
-
Obika's injury probably means that we won't see young Ferrie go out on loan now.
-
If Obika is a permacrock, I wonder how this affects the option of a further year on his current 1-year deal. Note that the MFC webpage (unhelpfully) states the following, with typos: Signing a one-year deal, with the option of the a further year, Obika was the first to take up a contract offer ahead of the new season.

Yep, the boy is class.

The marketing of Lennon Miller has begun. Thankfully, he's under contract until May 2025. https://www.instagram.com/p/CwAnyzno6tV/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

I think that’s why we signed Paton, as I’m sure he can cover several areas of midfield.
-
If you think that was a foul, go look at what the Man Utd keeper, Andre Onana, got away with doing to the Wolves striker, Sasa Kalajdzic, earlier tonight.

Biereth is an absolute menace and a machine.

For those not on social media, you may be interested to see what the 'official representation' of the Bois have been up to lately. In my opinion (and that of almost every response), they've had an absolute shocker here, made themselves out to be the 'bedroom dwellers' they sought to intimidate and belittle, and have completely embarrassed themselves and our fanbase in general. Not liking a YouTuber is fine, but panting a target on their back like this is a disgrace.
-
They've made 5 subs and not one of them was Campbell. I hope he gets his chance soon because Luton have been pretty useless today.
-
Campbell only makes the bench for Luton's Premier League debut.
-
Although Hibs were pretty decent last night and took their chances well, Luzern could've beaten them by a few if they took their chances and stopped hitting the woodwork. In short, Hibs have a decent attack if they all turn up, but they also have a breakable defence. We should focus on the latter, hitting them early and hard.

Goss to Dundee? Surely not. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/sean-goss-dundee-transfer-target-30667970
