  1. A nice man - my thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
  2. LOL yeah I'll pick up my Season Ticket at £280, but you just hold-off and pay what you like - good one. Give up the odd away game and you might just be able to afford a season - after all MFC make nothing from your away support.
  3. We had this in Nancy as well - "85 arrested" was the figure quoted on the morning of the match (allegedly in the Daily Record) - actual figures - 'nil' - pinch of salt time.
  4. Maxywell With an attitude and business accumen like that is more likely to 'make' you a fiver
  5. Easy solved, next time we just withdraw from the competition, that way all the moaners on here can save their pennies for ICT and Hamilton. Making choices within a budget is not something new, though to listen to some of you you would think it was. Make your choices - its obvious that very few of us has the money to do everything we want - sacrifice something - be it a packet of fags or the couple of pints before the Hibs game, and there you have the extra fiver. It doesn't matter what the club does at the moment, this forum has just become a place for one big moan - and I include myself in that.
  6. Nope we didn't - at least according to this archive we didn't - http://scottish-football-historical-archiv...erveleague5.htm Infamous - Youth teams aren't a recent innovation, Motherwell have had one in one form or another for at least the last 30 years. The period I was referring to may have been prior to the 'Coop' era, but did take place, because there was no organised youth league for professional teams at that time and our entry to that league allowed the team to play together on a regular basis. At that time the players, although registered to Motherwell played for different teams throughout the country on a Saturday. Reserve League West games were played on a Monday night - watched a young Scott Leitch/Stevie Bryce inspired 10-0 demolition of QOS in that competition at Bellshill in 86-87
  7. Don't think we withdrew from the Main league - but played the u19's/youths in the Reserve League West - used to play their games at Bellshill astroturf , sure it was behind Bellshill baths.

Didn't advocate scrapping the League Cup (its one of only 2 trophies we can realistically win) - it was the format I was referring to. None of the formats (league, knock-out) have been particularly successfull and the League Cup has never really been seen as anything other than a nuisance since they took away the Europe Qualification for the winners. Keep it as it is. Would love to see a Texaco Cup type competition re-emerge, but like steelboy says the waning popularity of the FA Cup and teams indifference to it would mean its was non-starter.

3: Yeah lets reintroduce the League Cup to a format which died on its feet back in the 70's. Whilst padding out the season to make up for the loss of games (and obviously revenue), it would make up for nothing in terms of entertainment/attraction value. If anything the competition is more attractive in its current format, than going back to a 'Champions League Group Format' - dress it up how you want Champions League (Spin) - its still the same teams producing the same fair. Been going to football now for over 40 years, there's 3 fundamental things killing the game, Money, TV and Coaches. All 3 are stifling the game in its present format. And lets not believe its just here that the problem lies its worldwide - World Cup anybody (Perhaps the best game of the tourney was the one that meant nothing). Vicious circle I know but until the product on the park improves, there will be a continual drop-off in attendance - sad.

Not only that, but he's from Harthill born and bred, supported Airdrie (so that tells its own story), switched allegiance to Celtic (little wonder he doesn't visit his home village much) and who now professes to be a 'boxing' expert (suppose he would need to be if he visited more often). Really sums up the scottish media - when even they can be manipulated to crossover to the 'dark-side'
  11. A ned I could put up with - but no, he is shite. Cardiff are welcome to him
  12. Definitely Pie's version - in fact he may well hold the copyright
  13. Sadly I did make the game. Deflect, deflect - this place is worse than a Celtic board for that. I notice that you nor Onthefringes, in your attempts to justify the creation of an atmosphere - choose not to comment on the other song sung on Saturday and which I quote:- "We all agree - the Ibrox Disaster was magic". Perhaps those who willing sang it on Saturday would care to do the same on the subway to Ibrox - then again perhaps not. Motherwell fans we may well all be and few in number, but that doesn't mean to say that I have to agree with everything a group of silly wee neds wants to sing. Would you think similarily had the Ayr support sung a similar dity about Phil O'Donnell - but hey they were 'only hurling abuse' and adding to the atmosphere. I will moan where I feel its warranted in this case I feel it is. By all means create an atmosphere but at least do it with some form of dignity. Sorry but I did roar my indignation at them at the time - they were only around 20 yards from me. I have been following the Well home and away for over 40 years (trying and succeeding over the years to create 'atmosphere') and for the first time in my life I was embarassed to be a 'Well fan. Personally I would rather there were 20 fewer of us than have the morons who were there on Saturday continue to go every week and spout this sort of bile - wanna do it every week - head for Parkhead or Ibrox, in fact anywhere but Fir Park please - we're better off without you.
  14. Oh yeah a right bunch of cards the lads were - particluarly the song about the Ibrox Disaster - what a hoot that was, oh and of course the Sieg Heil chants - f.....g retards and tossers - pity they hadn't stayed in the pub.
  15. Congratulations to Motherwell fc girls u13,s on today 5-1 victory in the scottish cup at Irvine, against Clark Drive Girls. The 'well girls are also sitting top of the league. Well done to Motherwells no6 scoring her 18th goal of the season so far. Super 'Well
  16. Genuine? Where did you see/hear that?
  17. To quote one of the fanzines at the time "There is a light that never goes out" - RIP Davie was a privilege to watch you in the C&A.

    Hearts

Sorry not enough votes for me - need 11. Really tough choice eventually went for Jennings, with the other 10 a very close equal second. For once big John doesn't feature - did he have a shot to save?
  19. Andy totally forgot about that one - just seems to be a shit game, weather and result any time we're there
  20. Would settle for a point right now to keep the run going, but surely we are due a result at the midden park. Same finishing eleven from Saturday - particularly the reinclusion of big Lukas - if fit - what a difference he made on Saturday. Duberry was having a field day until Lukas' introduction - really turned the game in our favour. You going through.
  21. Just that your mindset and eyesight are up to the task.

    John Ruddy

Sell-On clause - Loan Deal?, bit of a contradiction is it not. Ruddy's not on contract at Motherwell, so how could we invoke a sell-on clause - juornalism at its best, or am I missing something fundamental here.
  23. Purely incompetent - today's incompetent being one of the worst.
