  1. Douglas is a 'well fan - that chant went on for ages - before the clanger
  2. Yeah it was and both teams seemed to cope better against it. Love him or loathe him and I can be his fiercest critic, you've got to admire big Higgy. Was really unlucky not to score successive hat-tricks (his first half shot of the post looked in all the way). Wait till you see his second, what a bullet header They're relegation fodder, but happy to come away with the points, despite a below-par performance.
  3. No apology necessary mate - but aren't we all
  4. Ask Kirkie if he played at Hampden for the Vics in a Scottish Junior Cup final before joining the 'well. Vague recollections of watching him from the schoolboy enclosure (front of South Stand).
  5. Way out with that one Pie - mind playing tricks. Spurs were double winners in 1960-61, a feat not achieved again until Arsenal 1970-71
  6. What a trip down memory lane that was - thanks tex. Keep them coming if you've anymore from your scrapbook - you wouldn't happen to have the report of the St Mirren game 1975?
  7. If your referring to Graeme Forbes - did he not go to Walsall, around the same time as Andy Dornan?
  8. Great clip shit result - forgotten that we had drainage problems far beyond the recent issues .
  9. Grew - I take it from your comment that the game wasn't televised - I couldn't remember - the SFA were funny about things in them day's, none of this televised football at the drop of a hat. Wonder what Hugh Allan and Ernie Walker would make of all this live football and Sky. Rule 14 ya bass, if there was a game in the public park, then no football could be shown on tele at the same time. To protect the game, I think was the line they always trotted out. Changed days indeed.
  10. "As the Gladiators entered the arena, the roar could be heard at Glasgow Cross" Doug Baillie's opening line of the Sunday Post report - Motherwell v St Mirren, Scottish Cup circa 1975(?) Huge crowd that day
  11. Along with the car keys - retrieved after the match at 'F' Division HQ, if I remember correctly
  12. Was that all it was - seemed like a lot longer at the time.
  13. LOL remember it well - I had given him dogs abuse for the majority of the game and after that strike he deservedly ran straight from their end to ours and gave me the 'GIRFUY' . Spoke to him some years after that and we both had a giggle about it.
  14. Please do mate - coming from Harthill we normally parked in Orbiston Street, that night we were parked in Jerviston - and just made KO. The queues snaked from both sides of the Taggarts end out onto Windmillhill Street - what a night, perhaps only bettered for atmosphere by the Hearts semi in the same competition. Cult hero's from that era has to be both 'Jumbo' Muir and big John Goldthorpe (made Higgy look like Messi )
  15. He didn't sign McGlinchey - the auld cuddly b.....d Broon did. Sorry re-read your post 'we', not 'he'
  16. Went for Kerr, very composed for one so young - but give it a rest on the Hateley trip - thought he had a good game today and can in the right circumstances play a midfield role - though I do prefer him at full-back.
  17. Customer Service focused individuals need not apply.
  18. Yeah because he adds that one-dimensionality that every team should have......sorry mate but he's pish.
  19. LOL so says the man with 'Chairman of the Michael Higdon Appreciation Society!!!!!!!' in his signature - now lets talk pish
  20. I know there's not much to do up there - but drinking (sorry drunk) at this time in the morning?
  21. No recommendation there though - you even liked the 'jester' strip
  22. Why would that be a problem - none of the players they have signed, or are about to sign are. or were in our wage range anyway.
  23. Hutch? - he was a f...kin bombscare for 90 mins today. Got dragged all over the pitch during one spell in the middle of the first half and looked very uncomfortable all game. Transfer talk, getting to him perhaps. Ramsden was 'caught under the ball, trying to do the job of 2 centre backs while Hutch made his way back from his wanders up the park - McCall at one stage was almost apoplectic. Agree with others though on the performances of the subs and Zaine. We looked dangerous on the break and despite having to dig in, looked the more likely to score, Ojama and Murphy caused their defence problems all afternoon with their work rate and trickery. A great three points. Roll on Thursday
  24. Came on at Ayr as part of the wholesale changes midway through the second half - don't remember any injury then - certainly didn't feature at Kirkcaldy.
