  1. Me too - travelling from Motherwell I'm afraid. But might take you up on the offer WHEN we get to the final.
  2. Definitely - started by myself (ably assisted by Andy Knott, Jim Stevenson (now in Australia I believe) and Gordon Eadie). Ran home and away for the best part of 4 seasons - again before apathy set-in. Actually started from Bathgate, through Armadale, Whitburn, Harthill, Shotts. Don't remember pciking up in Newmains other than for some away games - the Fergie brothers. Yeah crazy bus, piling off at Clydebank, though having to drive back with a few windaes short. Arbroath in the Cup (52 seater with over 80 on it) the bus rocked when we hit Arbroath, chased the Lichties all the way up that hill at the monument - again a few windaes short on the return trip. Aberdeen - when we had to wait for a relief driver - the other got pissed in the 'Welly Boot' and couldn't drive home and many, many more. Crazy but great times.
  3. Moved to Ibrox on the same day we played Morton at Cappielow (a very wet Wednseday night - but weren't they all at Greenock). His club car was impounded from the car park outside Fir Park and he had to get a taxi to Ibrox to sign the deal (well make his mark). Also had several run-ins with Ian Livingstone (then chairman, I think) over the disaplying of the pictures of the 2 treble winning h*n teams that adorned his managers office. An absolute clown of a manager - and we've had some clowns in my time, but he tops the lot. Placed Brian McClair on the transfer list because he refused to go full-time, preferring to continue studying at Uni - Until Celtic came calling of course.
  4. Aberdeen didn't give him a 2.5 year contract - Blackburn did Or are you talking about Judas - can't quite make my mind up who you were referring to.
  5. Of course you would Celtic and Rangers always know well in advance, just that its unusual for the press to let the cat out the bag
  6. I'm not buying into this 'respect' agenda either. Where does this respect and courtesy extend to John Boyle and MFC? - a telephone call to the Club 'just to let you know we are in talks with Aberdeen'? - bollocks. He is no better than either McGhee, or allegedly Gannon (though no one has yet provided actual proof that he actively sought alternative employment) and yet we should all agree that he is some 'gentlemanly saint' in the words of Jim Royle - "MY ARSE" Time to be respectful and walk Craigy - thanks, but like everyone before you - 'don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out'.
  7. Congratulations indeed, best wishes to Mum and Joshua.
  8. That's the root of the problem Delboy - plenty of empty promises and no delivery. The parents of these girls, pay handsomely for the privilege of representing MFC and get the grand sum of NOTHING in return. The difference in attitude between Hibs - on Saturday - and MFC is obvious, not just within the club, but based on the comments by some of the under13 boys on this site, also the support. The response from the Hibs and to be fair the Motherwell support on Saturday was tremendous and as others have alluded to the MFC Girls should be afforded at least the same opportunity as their Hibs counterparts and parade the trophies won this season.
  9. Only the fact that I know some of the girls actually do read this thread, prevents me from telling you exactly what I feel. As the others have said just don't read it you plonker.
  10. Sorry lads can't agree with any of the assessments. Always wanted him to do well, but tonight again showed his limitations - erm two legs and no ability. He certainly has the ability to breakup the play, unfortunately it tended to be when we were in possession rather than the opposition and in my opinion he contributed little to the team at all. Purely my opinion, but really didn't see the marked improvement commented on here.
  11. Your supposed to be working LOL. Great news and in the end the girl's were worthy champions. Well done to the 'Dream Team' (Frank and Gary) - makes all those training nights worth it now I'm sure. What a weekend for the girl's and MFC. Now get back to work you slacker
  12. Meadowbank away? - take it this had more to do with Hibs than Meadowbank?
  13. Wark Pettigrew Graham Cooper McFadden Quite simply Pettigrew without Graham, was like eggs without bacon. Not a front two to touch them - telepathic it was. The others speak for themselves.
  14. Sad news indeed - one of the few who genuinely deserve the accolade 'Legend'.
  15. How old are you? Do you even remember the old League Cup Sections? It was a competition dying on its feet, and failing attendances were the reason for its demise. What has changed in the last 30 years to think that it should be included as part of the blueprint for the future. Still the same mediocre teams, playing mediocre football to the same audience. Boy if anything was going to galvanise the public out of their armchairs into football grounds again it was always going to be the reintroduction of the League Cup in sections If this is the extent of our thinking for the future I really do despair for the game.
  16. Afraid it didn't quite come off for the U13s this morning. The youngsters cantered into a quick 2 goal lead by half-time. However after the break the display became edgy and the girls started to look nervous, perhaps not surprising given what was at stake, they surrendered the 2 goal lead, took the lead again, courtesy of the 'well no6's 50th goal of the campaign, but tired toward the end Falkirk scoring twice in quick succession to secure the win - Full-Time 3-4 in favour of the visitors. Disappointing for the girls as the race for the title is now out of their hands. They can still win but have to rely on other results going their way. Good luck girls and keep the heads up. A great result for the 15's in their Scottish Cup semi-final at Toryglen, beating Forfar 4-1. Mind and let us know when the Final is Angie.
  17. Good luck to all the teams. C'mon the 13's - "It's just like watching Brazil".
  18. Only 1 win now to win the league after a comfortable 2-0 victory at Grangemouth this morning against Falkirk Futures. Roll on next week against Falkirk Academy and retention of the League crown.
  19. Poor memory or perhaps too much moonshine - East Stand has been seated since immediately after the 1991 cup win.
  20. Ah so you don't know it was Masonic - just a guess - seems reasonable (NOT). He might even be a member of one of the Loyal Orders - Oh dear might it really have been an 'Orange' handshake - heaven forbid. The point is that unless your a member of either of these organisations its unlikely you would know the handshake if it slapped you in the face. Why has it taken so long for this to surface. Did your guests really wait this long to be offended? He waited 'one minute' to antagonise your guests, yet you waited nearly 5 weeks after the event to publicly address this. Have you brought this to the attention of the Club Officials? I smell shite.
  21. This goes way back beyond the 'Casual' scene (Hearts didn't even have a firm) - This was to do with the 'Gorgie', possibly the fiercest set of fans (including the OF who only really mattered because of their numbers) ever!. The scene, inside the ground and outside the the civic after these early 1970's games resembled a war zone. Remember standing in the enclosure in the front of the stand in a Texaco Cup game, early 70's - think a certain Jim McCabe scored a hat-trick in a 4-2 win that night - and watched in awe as the battle raged in the shed. Cue the Police dog handlers - even they didn't go in - just let the dogs off the leash to do their stuff. I counted 48 arrested that evening as they were brought directly across the pitch and down the tunnel. Usually those arrested were paraded around the perimeter track, not that night, it was obviously the quickest way to get them out the ground and try and restore order. No in those days you didn't mess with the 'Gorgie'. FHW.
  22. 2 great results for both the 13's and 15's well done again, particluarly to the Dream Team (F&G - keep it going lads). The girls top-scorer has 43 - yes 43 goals - so far this season, its costing her Grandpa a fortune in win bonuses Check out this video and the goal in the first couple of seconds from Motherwell's No6 - http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/swf/scottish_f...amp;newsID=6181
  23. FFS he struggles to make into the box from advance positions (ie 2 feet outside the 18 yard line).
  24. Very - we'd probably get put out by Brechin
