2018/19 Game 22: Hibernian (H) Wednesday 23rd January
Bart Verheul replied to MelvinBragg's topic in Club Chat
In fairness to main regarding this one incident, how many times this season has he played with a winger who has beaten his man and then put a cross like that in for him. He's been used to the ball either hitting the first man or getting shelled 3feet above him from the full back in a supporting position. -
Great Post, I think like most people on Saturday I wouldn't have been disappointed had he chosen to go however by Monday morning when the anger has lessened you sit and think who else could we get in that would fulfill all the criteria listed above. I watched the steelmen documentary on Friday night and actually commented how I think Robinson is the manager closest to Tommy McLean we have had. Wee Tommy's side was built from the back and it was a wee while before he got any sort of entertaining attacking performances from the team. My memories may be slightly hazy as I was only 7 when I started going regularly in 1986 but it wasn't until the likes of Bobby Russell and Davie Cooper came in that we looked like we had any sort of attacking threat. Again after last night it's easy to paint things as all being rosy in the garden (it's far from it) but Robinson at least showed that he is willing to send out a team that looked like they wanted to play a bit of football. Of course we now need to try and get a wee run going and not go back to the lose 4 or 5 games in a row by looking like a team that's never met each other before pulling out a performance like that when it looks like the manager's peg is not only shoogly but has come right out and is only being kept up because its caught on the peg next to it.

Steady on

At least the much heralded change of shape paid dividends. It doesn't matter where you put players on a pitch if you insist on having your centre halves lumping it 60yds up the pitch its not going to change anything. Ross McCormack was nowhere near fit but he must have been on his phone to his agent to get him back on the plane to Australia or to at least install 10ft electric gates at his house

They got beaten 2-0, both goals in the last 3minutes. No idea how they played or more specifically how Turnbull played

I didn't actually realise his record in the championship was that good. Possibly his start at Livingston is clouding my judgement and the fact that he always sounds like he's struggling to put a sentence together. That's probably more a symptom of coming from Linwood to be fair. Also just to point out that as a player Lambert was one of my favourites in the best Motherwell side I've ever seen so this isn't a personal attack.

Would much rather have Hurst than Lambert to be honest. Lambert has never really impressed me as a manager. I'm sure Hurst got Grimsby promoted with tait and clay in the squad. All hypothetical anyway as we still have somebody in the job just now, but if Robbo was to leave or was pushed Hurst would be my leftfield shout.

Agree with you about the fixtures being a hard start for a new guy but there's also the argument that whoever comes in could have these games as a kind of free shot and allow us the chance to modify the style of play in order for us to be readier for the so called easier games. We may even nick the odd brucie bonus point or two along the way, but lets be honest we'll probably get pumped every week!

The only winger with the physicality to play in our system would have been Jonah Lomu -
It gets fertilised quite a bit every 2nd week too

Hearts fans on twitter suggesting we are signing connor sammon (Don't shoot the messenger)

According to radio clyde, Robinson said the club did reject a bid from Grimsby for bowman and he hopes to have a new striker by the end of today.
-
Noticed from the highlights that Hartley had the armband despite McHugh starting aswell
-
Whoever it is, he doesn't play in Scotland as we are awaiting clearance from the relevant national association according to flow
-
Is he not under contract at bari with fiorentina trying to sign him? Would be delighted if this was wrong though and he was the man.
-
Robinson said the target can get around the pitch. Unless Allan Campbell has a burger attached to his back at all times then Adam ain't getting around any pitch.

Start with england c internationals based in the north east

Robbo saying we are 99.9% certain to sign a creative midfielder. Also says he has real stature, so fingers crossed its not ali crawford and is more like bigi on steroids.
