  1. in the same mould as Martin "the Greek" Grehan ? prolific scorer in the Junior/non league , comes to us, goes out on loan, then gets released. Grehan has gone on to show that he can still find the net , which makes me wonder if we shoulda kept a hold of him for a season or two longer ?
  2. am I the only one fearing a media/SFA backlash against Motherwell Fc ? I now fear the worst with back to back old firm games coming up that we are gonna get no decisions going our way ..... or is that just par for the course against them ??
  3. you sound surprised that his name is on the scoresheet so often ? are you forgetting that he came to us with an incredible ratio of goals/ starts of about 1 in 1 ? And as for laughing at people calling for him to get a chance.......if you're old enough to remember , Dougie Arnott came from exactly the same mould.....coming to us after years in the Juniors, with a rather impressive goals ratio. not a dig, just saying
  4. better delete this thread quickly, or Aberdeen will be linked with him in tomorrows paper !!
  5. I remember feeling totally cheated the day Princess Di snuffed it .... .....it was a Sunday , and we were due to play Killie that day, if we won we went top of the league, well I was like a wean on Christmas morning when I got up .....then its all over the tv and radio that Di had snuffed it , and the game was cancelled ! we were then a game behind, and started dropping points, so we never went top. spent the whole day feeling cheated out of top spot in the league !!
  6. ach I'm no worried , we'll obviously leave it till the last 15 minutes to bag a cheeky wee hat-trick
  7. possibility of 2 .....cant remember which was first. one was against Coventry (possibly pre season or Texaco cup) and the other was against the mighty Ajax (which Motherwell won iirc) both of thes games were mid-late 70's but my memory aint what it used to be, so mibbe one of the statto's could tell me the dates ?
  8. sat beside Kenny Dalgleish at a midweek game in the V.P Club about 93/94 . took me until half time to work out how I knew the guy sitting beside me, as "he looked familiar"
  9. it was the big smile and the "laugh at Broon " that he did just after that pic that had me smilin !
  10. crackin result ! I wouldn't like to pick a man of the match today......unless theres an option to give it to the whole team keep it up !!
  11. how many did Boyd get whilst playing at Fir Park ? just out of interest
  12. null vote for me today, not at the game and only caught the last 20 mins on thje radio.. any news on O'Brien ???
  13. ....before the game ........everyone stands .....half time ....everyone stands .....goal celebration.....everyone stands .....minutes silence/ applause ....everyone stands it would appear that it s only "no safe" whilst players are on the pitch kickin the ball !! incidentally, I was at Hampden for the AC/DC concert, and for about 3 hours there were about 60,000 people standing and there was no problem at all ! so mibbe its ok to stand at a football stadium at anything BUT a football match ?
  14. found this wee article from todays Shropshire Star . it appears that his former gaffer thinks that the situation regarding his transfer here is still ongoing ?? CLICKETY CLICKSTER
  15. sorry , but......McGhee has made mistakes, moved clubs, then made the same mistakes again, moved club, and made the same mistakes again , moved clubs, made the same mistakes........... MMG + mistakes = no learny !! on a wee side-note ......are you Mark McGhee's maw by any chance ???
  16. I think I've only been in there once myself. If i remember right I was in there for the Dortmund game years ago , could just be the drink playing tricks on me though as I was totally melted that day !!
  17. Alan Main - alky dad Alan Main - alky dad
  18. they'd only move us to groundshare !!
  19. regardless of whether he lost all his money or not (which he didn't) , to lose £7,000,000 of your own hard earned is a bitter pill to swallow I'll bet. He lost more than I'll ever earn in my lifetime, more than most of us will ever earn in our lives ! £7m is £7m whether you have £10m or £100m its still a whore o' a lot o' cash to flush down the pan . and as for being a poor mans Fergus McCann.... well would you say no if someone arrived at Fir Park with bings of cash and told you that he'd invest it in the club to get you some of the best internationalists on the park in the claret and amber, would upgrade the stadium to one of the best in the country, and generally provide financial backing for a set period of years. Then at a pre-arranged point in time he would sell his share and leave you on a sound financial footing. you wouldn't knock it back would you ? Boyle tried it, and had we been in a different location (ie not so close to the OF ) then he might just have pulled it off ! His plan failed, but did he wash his hands of MFC ? No .... he invested more money out his own pocket to fund better players to help us short term, but also with the hope of European football in there and domestic cup runs etc which all give a boost financially. Out of interest , which one of the hundreds of millionaire businessmen that are currently chapping Mr Boyles door to buy MFC would you have at the helm ??
  20. I will be headin along with the wife and kids as well, purely because its not every week you get to see your team play Man Utd regardless of who's actually on the park .
  21. I think its probably too early to call to be honest. perhaps by christmas we will be able to tell a bit better, although at that time last year we were 1 point off the bottom of the league, our blushes spared only by the Accies. if I was pushed to give an opinion at the moment, I'd have to say we look pretty much the same in defence , better in midfield, and weaker up front. the one area that has seen an absolutely huge increase this season though has to be the level of optimism from the fans !! I honestly can't remember the last time there was such a "buzz" around the fans regarding players and management ! hopefully some exciting times ahead.............. .........hold on tight 'coz the 09/10 Fir Park rollercoaster has started at a helluva rate !!!
