    Chris Porter

I wouldn't make wholesale changes for Saturday, but if Ports has any sort of knock then leave him out. The same goes for guys like Clarky and Crago who're just back after injury, missing this wouldn't be the end of the world and we're still extremely likely to win. In terms of Ports long term future, I'd want him to stay until the end of the season unless we get a silly offer for him. With something like 50k per place prize money in the SPL plus the prospect of a run in the Scottish Cup, we could make more money by keeping him than selling him.
  2. Great work Pie, looks like a quaint and interesting wee ground, although it'll have to be tallest at the back and wee-est (like me!) down the front at our end! Hope the game is on, looking forward to it.
  3. Great performances all over the park, but my vote went to Coach who kept Andy Driver quiet, which was vital to our win.
  4. Fair chuffed with my prediction, not a lot wrong there eh?!! Great result and a resilient performance, solid all over the park and a better final pass away from another couple of goals. Great stuff!
  5. I quite agree mate, gied me a right laugh when he came on so it did!
  6. Initial impressions are that it seems a good bit of business, hope it happens. Wonder who'll leave in the summer to make way? Hughes, Malcolm and McGarry and all out of contract.
  7. Easy one for me - Crusanders in Belfast in July 2006! Quite simply a drunken day from start to finish!
  8. Whatever the rights and wrongs of Jambos financial dealings, I do not believe that Ports will be interested in moving to them, he will be eyeing a move back down south. Also, the timing of this announcement is cheeky at the very least, and a Ports goal or two tomorrow night would be sweet!
  9. The Jambos have favoured a 4-5-1 formation so it might be worth asking Clarky to fill in on the right side to match up, especially to ensure that Coach isn't left one on one too often with Andy Driver. Midfield will be crowded but I think we can hold our own in there, and if we can keep Nade, Stewart and the afore-mentioned Driver quiet then Jambos goal threat is virtually nil. In terms of going forward I think we have the more potent goal threat, and with that in mind I'm going for us to pinch it 1-0 thanks to Ports.
  10. Its a bit weird down here too mate, not too bad during the best part of the day but starts to freeze overnight, and is duly baltic of a morning!
  11. I was at that game too, a superb performance all round with a few great goals, but the 5th from Johnny G was fantastic. I think Doug Rougvie is still trying to untangle himself even now!!
  12. The big man certainly deserves a lucky break, if you pardon the pun. Here's hoping he can enjoy and injury-free run and play some fitba.
  13. Magic, gives us a wee bit of hope for the rest of the season. We're only 6 points away from the Top Six with a game in hand so you never know .
  14. Hope you're right mate, daily updates would be good if you're up for it!
  15. Hope you're right mate, not so easy to get up there of a midweek, fingers crossed for a mild week ahead of the game.
  16. Very decent display from the team, an even first half but all Motherwell in the second. We made loads of chances and on another day would've scored a few. Don't get me started on the ref, a disgraceful performance from start to finish and we deserved at least one penalty. I'm not expecting any sort of explanation from officialdom as to why we didn't get either. In terms of the team, no-one was poor but Maros, Crago, Clarky and Shug stood out, with O'Brien doing well again.
  17. A warm welcome to Artur Krysiak, here's hoping he's not the last new face at Fir Park this transfer window.
  18. This is a great thread full of wonderful memories, superb to read! Some of mine have already been covered, so I'll throw in a few others: Farningham Day at Geyskull in 1986. Jamie Dolan in goals v Shellic in 1996. 4-2 at Easter Road last season. 3-0 v Gers in 1991.
  19. Me and Sharon will be there and I predict a very tough 90 minutes. Its always hard to pick up points away to St Mirren but considering the run they're on (4 wins from 4 without conceding) and the obvious emotional aspect of their Love Street farewell, it'll be an even tougher assignment. I wouldn't make any changes from last week, but we'll have to make a good start to the game as I expect St Mirren will come flying out of the traps. The large home crowd will be expectant but will contain a lot of part-timers, and the longer the game goes on level or with us in front the more their frustration will increase. I'd take a draw to be honest, and to do that I expect we'll have to score. That said its unlikely that St Mirren could achieve 5 wins on the bounce, and with our resurgence last week perhaps we'll spoil their party. Sod it, 2-1 to us!
  20. All I know about Simon Elliot is that he was freezing cold when Flow collected him at the airport! Not used to these harsh Scottish temperatures!! Personally I think its a good idea to have a look at someone rather than going purely on a recommendation, we've been caught out that way before.
  21. Glad we've got him until the end of the season, will be useful to have in midfield and as defensive cover too.
  22. It was mid-October 1988, I was there too, some day! Only our fourth point of that season and we came back from 2-0 down! Kirkie's 'nalty save was fantastic, even more so cos it was Wayne Fucking Foster, to give him his full name!!
  23. It is an excellent point, and one worth making and reiterating to folk who think that top six finishes and European jaunts are easily achieveable every year. Teams in Division One like Dunfermline, Dundee and St Johnstone and no smaller than us, and there but for the grace of God (or league reconstruction!) go we. I'm not trotting out the old 'punching above our weight' mantra, although in the case of Motherwell FC is it certainly apt. All I mean is that we can't expect success every season, not with our financial limitations.
