  1. Record attendance for non Auld Firm/Scotland. Just think; Manchester Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Airdrie have never played in front of such an attendance
  2. Close the POD then. Retain access to the Director's Box, but no fan access, transfering those who normally frequent the POD to the Cooper. Lest face it .............. some time soon, it could be the more viable alternative and one taken by the authorities .......... Watford and Preston currently suffer from such an issue. Closer to home, Spartans had that very same decision scyth their SFL aspirations.
  3. As told by my late father:- he travelled to the game on a "fitba special" from Shotts. He was 16 at the time and it seemed like the whole of Shotts was at the train station bedecked in hand-knitted claret & amber scarves. It was pay at the gate in those days, and the Q's were massive outside Hampden 2 hours before kick-off. Whisky was passed around rather freely, (no Buckfast in them days), even the Bobbies joined in He made it in to the North Enclosure, and being 6'5" found vantage not a problem Dundee were favourites, apparently, and dominated the 1st half - roared on by the crowd. It wasn't really 50-50 nor was there any segregation, but a stadium packed with football fans who just appreciated good football no matter who played it. 2nd half was a different story though, (with my old English teacher from Dalziel - Wilson Humphries - getting on the score-sheet) ................. and we mustn't forget Redpath's Snorter in front of a Record attendance at the time. Apparently the scenes in Motherwell were amazing when the team came back with the cup. Imagine players on top of a single decker bus with the cup, then they appeared at Robb's Tea Room window to show the trophy to the fans. It was the frequent recital of this story that kept me going in my younger days as a 'Well fan, and in 1991 my father was the 1st person I searched out when I got back to the bus outside Hampden. We didn't say much, we didn't have to, just a look a nod and a hug said more than words could.
  4. Enjoy the great view of that massive pillar, and the smell of the Feargals
  5. That's just it, I think we're all totally scunnered with this
  6. I noticed the criteria of Lower League England and Loan deal experience. Coke, Jennings, Humphrey and Juke, Ruddy, Blackman, Randolph have all proved that that is our market. However, the new man has to be able to blend and coach a team and get the best from them tactically week-in week-out. Perhaps we need 2 Men
  7. The year is almost at an end, and I ask you for your MFC Memory of 2010. For me, it's simple ............. yes the Juke's equaliser against Hibs presented me with a lung exploding head bursting wake up the street knuckle breaking off the ceiling moment ..................... my 1st European away goal with live with me for ever. Tom Hateley's last minute strike in Odense was more than a goal. To me it was the end of a 19 year wait to see my first 'Well away goal in Europe. Katowice, Dortmund and Nancy had all been wonderful trips but no goal to celebrate. At 49, I was in tears. Hately's late strike was more than a goal because as the ball hit the back of the net and the travelling supported erupted it gave us real hope. It gave us real hope that our beloved MFC could turn a 2-1 defeat around at Fir Park and would proceed to the money-making group stages of the Europa Cup. Sadly it was not to be, but Tom Hateley's direct free kick into the top right hand corner of the net is my Memory of 2010. What's yours ?
  8. An option could be ................. condem the East Stand and close it - end of, and thus no more annual maintenance to worry about. Remove the seats and use as spares for the South and Cooper. Allocate the Cooper Stand to away fans and the South Stand for home fans, with an access route to said created from Fir Park Street. The capacity would still be over 10,000. And lets be honest, when do we ever need that ? When the Mauld Firm visit, simple - give them The Cooper and the bits they usually get in the POD, (no change there then).
  9. Fekk, right now I'd take John Hughes just to get it over with.
  10. bit different from sitting down with it flowing round yer feet. Yes we were made of sterner stuff back in the day we stood on rainsoaked ash bings/terraces, we pissed in roofless urinals or up against the wall at the Spazzy End, some even pissed where they stood when the Shed was packed, while the women folk had to knock on doors in Fir Park Street, the only running water was in the Board Room, and there was no segregation from the 20,000+ bampots who invaded when the Mauld Firm came a calling. Yes we are a right bunch of sad softies today: corporate boxes, sauce for our pies, waterproof clothing, remote controls for the TV, toilet roll and inside shunkeez. What must we be thinking The Taylor Report was comissioned to eraze the bad old days, to ensure top flight teams provided top flight facilities for fans, the outcome of which saw the red bings from 2 ends of Fir Park replaced by the Stands we see today. With the Shed, however, MFC rather sadly chose the cheap option and fitted seats into a covered terrace and squeezed in toilet/kiosk facilities at the back where there really was no adequate room to do so. The Shed is the 3rd worst Stand in the SPL, (behind the 2 at Inverness), while the POD is probably 4th worst. They both demand annual upkeep, a financial burden on MFC which in my opinion is unacceptable - and probably could pay for 2 or more decent players. Truth hurts, but it must rule over sentiment.
  11. Celtic aint that good, and we are no way as bad as Aberdeen were a few weeks back. It's the same group of players that won at Tynecastle, slotted 4 past St Johnstone and sat 3rd in the league so they have it in them to go to the Feargal Bowl and take something from it. Lets hope they have the self belief.
  12. It was a great covered enclosure in the 1970's/80's but it's a dump of a 21st century seated stand, and sadly has seen no improvements in the 20 years since the seats went in
  13. Right now I'd settle for a 2 sided effort, 2 x 4.5k seaters running each side of the pitch......with decent facilities.
  14. McCall ? Why, just why ? Sutton ? totally inexperienced, and Hartson ? so fekkin stupid he takes over 6 months to go to see a doc when he sprouts a 3rd testicle FFS I would really despair if any of these eejits gor the job.
  15. Sad, but unfortunately spot on. She's done, and is a financial burden the Club can no longer afford.
  16. In the grand scheme of things today's result matters little. I'm far more concerned about matters off the park:- speculation that the virtually untried and very inexperienced Stubbs, Hartson and Sutton are amongst the names being touted for the vacant Manager's job at FP, and rather sadly but unsurprisingly the old lady herself who yet again proves that she is way beyond her sell by date and for way too long now has been unfit for purpose. A few weeks ago we were 3rd, then we found 4th then 5th and now 6th, and if stadiums were the only reason for top flight retention we'd be relegated.
  17. Same old same old unless Peterhead, Montrose, Elgin and Annan win their way up to Div-1
  18. You suggesting we're Barking Mad
  19. I believe there's a multitude of reasons for the colapse of The Beautiful Game as a popular spectacle, but to me the Top-3 are The Taylor Report, The Bosman Ruling and the evolution of Agents. Sitting down has killed the atmosphere, the Bosman Ruling has nullified a much needed income stream for Clubs like Motherwell and the evolution of Agents has systematically creamed many Clubs, and the Game dry.
  20. Treated my Niece and Nephew to a day out in Edinburgh a few years back ( they were 9 and 6 respectively). Boarded an open top bus and the driver asked the kids where they were from. Hamilton they replied. He then asked them who do you support, Rangers they replied. No F in Danager I thought. Even if their neighbour was Artur Numan, thanks to my heavy handed influence thay have both been season ticket holders at Fir Park for 4 years now. Now 15, Mark will experience his first Supporters Bus away day to Dens for the Cup-Tie. He can't wait.
  21. Go check yer bawz for sheepticks ya arsewipe :wank: You fukwits are living 25years in the past, and while I applauded your challenge to the Mauld Firm at that time the Red Bleeters have consistently underachieved by comparison ever since. The current status of AFC is in stark contrast to the 2 stars on the shirt, your wig-wearing owner has short arms and long pockets while your illiterate Director of Football couldn't even run a chip shop FFS Bottom of the SPL by your deluded metaphor, that makes your current plight well below the gutter Enjoy your trip to Firhill next season
  22. Exactly. If we pulled in close to 10,000 for every home game then perhaps the right to shout would be there. More Motherwell fans need to attend Fir Park more regularly, and more spending money will therefore be available to the Club.
