  1. If Longelo stays fit, we'll be fine for goals.
  2. 2 if you include Luca Ross.
  3. If I was making a career defining move, Tam is certainly the first person I'd tell.
  4. Askou says Lennon Miller is recovering from injury, and there’s nothing new to add, as speculation mounts over a big-money move. He said: “Everyone has potentially played their last game for Motherwell if there comes a big club, who put an offer on the table that we can’t resist. “But Lennon has done really well in his recovery with the staff, and we knew it was going to be a long shot if we were going to make him ready for this weekend. “But I think there is a very good opportunity that he will be ready for next week, if he’s still here. “For now he’s still a Motherwell player, so we are doing our very best to prepare him to be part of what we’re doing next week.” On potential signings, Askou said: “We are working hard in the background because we’re still too few, and we need to add some width and extra quality, to raise the level of competition. “We’ll see if we make something happen during the week. If not there is a new week after that, but we’re doing it as fast as we can.”
  5. These results show what can happen when you enter at the extra preliminary super diddy wee team stage of the Euro competition.
  6. And it's not sitting in that helps the style we want to play. It's more difficult to play high tempo, high press against a parked bus.
  7. Exactly this. Although it's early days for teams, and I don't usually start judging them until a few weeks after the window closes. However, most seasons there are only small margins between 7 or 8 of us, so I'm hoping our new approach will give us the edge to climb a few places. Absolutely no doubt we will have a few disasters along the way, but we could well hand out one or two gubbings too. It certainly won't be boring.
  8. If he moves while under contract, we are due a small piece of the fee regardless of any sell-ons agreed. "Any time a player is transferred while they are under contract, then a solidarity fee is paid to all clubs that trained the player between his 12th and 23rd birthdays at a proportional rate depending on how long the player was at each club." What I hadn't realised is that they continue throughout the players' career. "Solidarity payments do not stop at the player’s 23rd birthday (like the training compensation payments do) but continue through the course of the player’s professional career each time he is transferred while under contract." So as long a fee is paid while they are under contract, even if they are 40 years old, we still receive our cut. Apparently 5% of the transfer fee is used for the distributions.
  9. Derby would be a slightly strange move - from League Titles and Champions League football in Austria to a Championship side that avoided relegation by 1 point last season.
  10. Having watched the Falkirk v Dundee Utd game earlier, they both looked pretty average too. Early days for everyone, of course.
  11. While Robbo maintains none of them are "that kind of player"
  12. Cue 2 weeks of OF infused media demanding to know why they weren't able to sign him, and sign him on the cheap.
  13. Boyd and Sutton love the sound of their own voices and love their opinions even more. Faddy just sits there and every now and then, sticks the boot in. Especially when it's a Motherwell game. His exact quote, which I posted in the MOTM was: "A draw was a good result for Rangers based on that performance."
  14. Aye, especially as their manager said exactly that.
  15. Early days, but the new players we signed all seem promising. McGhee could be a good addition if he stays fit, but I'm not convinced that will happen. If our new additions are of similar quality, our squad should be in good shape.
  16. It's a bit early in the season for a bell weather game. I'd say the time for that is in the second round of fixtures once JBA has experienced the full range of tactics and plastic pitches and opponents have experienced our tactics. It will be a good test of the new approach, though.
  17. I like that. I can imagine for SK's final message, the players would need to take a seat for 10 minutes to let him finish.
  18. One of the things that stood out for me yesterday, was that we looked fitter than Rangers. Given that they had an uninterrupted preseason and only 4 new players (as opposed to our 5) in the starting lineup, at worst they should have been as fit us. In fact, given how difficult the League Cup groups make it to train as hard as managers would like, they should have been a couple of weeks ahead in that department. I know they had a game in mid-week, but that should have negligible impact at this stage. It was also obvious that everyone in the Motherwell team has bought in 100% to JBA's new approach and kept at it from start to finish even when it didn't come off. That was clearly not the case with Rangers and, like ours, it's not a style that works if only half your team adopts it.
  19. Imagine how well we could have played if we weren't a team that always bottles it on live TV, in front of a big crowd, on a big occasion.
  20. I'm going to go against Kris Boyd's bold prediction and say we will not finish in the relegation play-off spot.
  21. There are going to be ups and downs, but regardless, I'm actually looking forward to games now to see how we play.
  22. It gives me heart attacks when I watch teams I don't even support do it. Hopefully I'll get used to it.

If the council doesn't grant a license, there's not much we could have done.
  24. He's still talking about bringing in 2 or 3 more players, so I'm sure he knows.
