One of the things that stood out for me yesterday, was that we looked fitter than Rangers. Given that they had an uninterrupted preseason and only 4 new players (as opposed to our 5) in the starting lineup, at worst they should have been as fit us. In fact, given how difficult the League Cup groups make it to train as hard as managers would like, they should have been a couple of weeks ahead in that department. I know they had a game in mid-week, but that should have negligible impact at this stage. It was also obvious that everyone in the Motherwell team has bought in 100% to JBA's new approach and kept at it from start to finish even when it didn't come off. That was clearly not the case with Rangers and, like ours, it's not a style that works if only half your team adopts it.

Imagine how well we could have played if we weren't a team that always bottles it on live TV, in front of a big crowd, on a big occasion.
