  1. Not sure about being a counterattacking side. JBA seems to want a high press, which is the opposite of sitting back and hitting on the break.
  2. I remember a cup game we drew at Ochilview (0 - 0 I think) and went on to score 6 in the replay. Another plastic pitch, but I expect more improvement and a win. Would love to see a new central defender signed before then. McCowan's Highland Toffee anyone?
  3. Do you only chat about football when you're at the game? The mods on here are useless anyway, so doubt anything will change. Meanwhile, we only win games this season when SOD is playing. Discuss.
  4. Maswanhise was definitely more effective on Saturday. Although, tbf, Peterhead kept a good defensive shape that kept space behind to a minimum.
  5. Just listened to JBA's post match and he mentioned AP needs better crosses to be effective. He definitely looks more effective with the ball in front of him.
  6. Early days for Watt, but I was encouraged that at least he was getting involved and didn't hide.
  7. When I was learning to drive, my mum used to make me drive her to Fine Fare on late night opening Wednesdays "for practice". Or it might have been Gateway by then. Back to the football - we need two new central defenders ASAP.
  8. It wasn't a maths tutorial, it was mostly needed for doing the messages at Fine Fare.
  9. Fadinger looks like he was designed to play JBA's game.
  10. and most of the wee keepers add a few cm to their wiki page.
  11. never used those (but I never bet on the horses) We were also taught: 16oz in 1lb 14 lbs in a stone 8 stone in a hundredweight 20 hundredweight in a ton (and that's me done)
  12. Exactly! 3ft 3 inches in a metre 2.2lbs in a kg 1.6 km in a mile They drilled us well.
  13. People my age grew up with both systems, so know there are 2.54cm to an inch. 179 / 2.54 = 70.47 inches. 12 inches to a foot, so 70.46 inches = 5 ft 10.47 inches.
  14. Meanwhile, at the BBC, the latest results are in
  15. AP's not a hold-up man, he's an inside the box finisher. If we want to get the most from him, he needs to be facing the goal with the ball in front of him.
  16. Some encouraging signs from the new players, and can see some new tactical ideas taking shape - but work to be done. I thought Connelly handled the sweeper-keeper role better than Ward, albeit with little pressure being applied. The less said about the defence the better.
  17. A Fad-hum-dinger. Take your pick...
  18. Conceding the early goal has given them something to hang on to. They are sitting deeper and deeper now, but we need some penetration.
  19. It's all about the "load balancing" with JBA.
  20. Agreed. I can see some positives with some of our play mid to front, even if it's not quite coming off. I see nothing at the back.
  21. As long as we score 4 or 5 goals per game, the defence is nothing to worry about.
  22. Efficient with our shooting efforts now.
  23. Been saying for the past 2 or 3 seasons. Needed a complete clear out.
  24. It was terrible, both in marking and the attempt at a tackle.
  25. I used to watch Hugh Sproat defend at the half-way line, so keepers that stand outside their box don't worry me much.
