  1. Complete guess based on nothing more than this year's Macron templates and the fact we hadn't used pinstripes for a few seasons. (Not a huge fan of any black kits, tbh, but don't think this one is any better/worse than most of them).
  2. QPR aren't telling lies. The twitter account that appeared on isn't theirs and if a fee had been made public 100% it would have appeared in the media reports.
  3. I could see us signing a deal where QPR get paid £500k if we sell him on for more than that, but not that we paid that for him.
  4. While I was firmly in the "decent business to get the money we did" camp for Hastie, I thought then he'd have been much better staying with us in terms of career development. He's still young enough to get back on track, though, if he takes his coaching on board and works hard. Whether not that will be at Premiership level or lower league we'll find out over time.
  5. And 'Flow saying we're hoping to add "more new faces to the squad shortly" - here's hoping that includes a midfielder with a bit of creative flair.
  6. We're all off work here celebrating the end of British oppression
  7. I'll believe it when I see the official announcement, but I always said that the players voting him as Players' Player of the Year was a masterstroke if we were hoping he'd come back. Regarding the standard of the English Leagues, I've watched a lot of them in the past couple of seasons (thanks to EPSN+ subscription) and they really are a mixed bag. There are teams in the Championship of EPL quality thanks to parachute payments and rich owners. And at the bottom of the Championship there have been teams like Leeds, Sunderland and Ipswich on a long decline that just kept dropping. Likewise in League One and League Two. A mixture of ambitious owners bankrolling teams for Championship and EPL glory, and nosediving ex-EPL teams that have imploded. Budget-wise we'd struggle to match the GA's old employers at Salford, but there are plenty of teams in League Two and League One we'd be ahead of. And the worst teams in the Championship the last couple of seasons would struggle in our Premiership. As for Baraclough, I don't think I've ever met an Englishman that didn't overrate English football or underrate Scottish football. Just like when they thought Henrik Larsson wasn't that good because he was only scoring against Scottish teams (then he won the Champions League at Barca). Same for Van Dijk who suddenly became "the best central defender in the world". (Of course you could argue we overrate our domestic game, but with guys like Doncaster in charge, someone needs to give it some credit).
  8. Given how long it has taken recent signings from those leagues to get fit when they join us, "our level" seems to be above that - at least if it's fitness levels we're talking about.
  9. Not to diminish Kelly's abilities - he is excellent and I'd be delighted to see him back - but the nature of the position means there are usually a number of good loanee options that we can probably get within our budget. Just look at Newcastle Utd's third choice for example.
  10. 2 months until the transfer window closes (and then there are free agents after that). Bit early to be panicking, but that's how it goes on here. Be even worse after a couple of games in the League Cup.
  11. I obviously have no idea, so instead I'll start a rumour based on this season's Macron templates and say we will see a variant of this one:
  12. While I don't buy all these conspiracy theories, I have to admit that since I received the two Moderna vaccinations my 5G reception has been terrific.
  13. Clubs (and the rest of society) needs time to prepare. If the data supports opening stadiums around that date, then it's good that they know now. If the infection rates change later, then make decisions based on that. Its just common sense. To make any kind of progress you need to both plan for the future and react to the current situation. (Or is the latest conspiracy Jason Leitch is superspreading just for laughs?)
  14. This is why we don't sign players from the Premiership. We can't afford the best ones, and nobody wants the others in our team.
  15. It's like when people over here latch on to my Scottish accent and assume I'm good at hitting a golf ball. So I have to explain to them I have just as much trouble knocking one through the wee windmill as they do.
  16. It's like the headline in The Scotsman last week "Billy Gilmour claims Scotland record from another one-time Rangers player" The record they were talking about was Chelsea player Gilmour beating the one Duncan Ferguson set when he was playing for Dundee Utd - the only club he had ever played for at the time.

He didn't walk into the national team, though - only the squad. And the only reason (like Turnbull) that he was in the squad was because UEFA allowed expanded numbers for the finals. If O'Donnell was injured, 99.9% chance Tierney would have been moved out there.

He might be the the future, and it's certainly worth including him in the squad to give him some exposure. However, the footballing world is full of promising players whose trajectory nosedives quickly. Sometimes for obvious reasons, sometimes not. Seven first team appearances is certainly no guarantee. A prefect example of that is our own Tony Watt. After he scored his famous goal against Barca he got a 4 year extension as the "next big thing" - but it never quite worked out, except for us.
  19. Was Carson not in that league when we signed him? (Although the overall quality seems to be variable).
  20. And they'll all be on here complaining they couldn't sit in their usual seat.
  21. Jonathan Page signs for Clyde. That training gear of his I bought in the fund raising auction must be rising in value quicker than bitcoin.
  22. A bit like Brian Kerr - has the footballing talent, not always the application to match. We do need a footballer in the middle of the park though, and haven't signed one yet.
  23. If you go back through the history on here, he was continually held up as an example of a player that left us and went on to better things. Don't hear it so often now, right enough.
  24. The St Mirren scout will be getting his jotters for missing that one.
