  1. You put 2 in the fridge for an hour before the adding them to the bag just before the draw. The other balls are room temp. As others have said, however, when the draw is on the radio only, you don't need to be that clever. You just read out whatever you like.
  2. There is. But they have made the disparity between the haves and have-nots so great in other ways, they don't need to worry about cup draws.
  3. Same question though is how do you do that? Talented players and their agents are aware of the interest months (or years) in advance, and just refuse contract extensions because they don't want to risk a transfer fee getting in the way of a move. Miller's plan was more first team games, so it made sense for him to extend when he did. Johnston's plan was to leave as soon as he could, so did not make sense for him or his career plans.
  4. Not sure what else we could have done with Johnston. He rejected our offers because he wanted to leave.
  5. He's in his last year of his contract, so would walk for a much smaller UEFA development fee next summer.
  6. Another year with us would be OK for Miller, but terrible for our finances.
  7. It sounds like one of those rumours that is either 100% accurate, but everyone involved is keeping quiet, or a complete fabrication that the media has decided to run with.
  8. It started when Airdrie papped us out in Scottish Cup semi replay in 1975 and I got hooked on painful glory hunting defeats.
  9. That's true. There are a number of "transient" fans who might come along when we are playing well, or in late stages of cups, that aren't interested in the weekly grind during a bad spell. Those are the ones that need to be persuaded to attend more often. If we could add another 500 to the gate every week, even that relatively small amount would generate a decent amount of additional revenue across a season.
  10. TBF, that's in part because many are like me and live too far away to attend most games. When we were gubbed in the CIS Cup final, I made a 6000 mile round trip for that glory.
  11. JBA mentioned in one of his interviews that defending the long ball is something we are training for, but need to improve.

    Mrs Baillies

All the details were on the Society's web page (although it wouldn't hurt to have a sign) https://thewellsociety.uk/2025/07/24/grab-a-friday-night-brew-in-the-new-well-society-fan-zone-before-hertha/
  13. They have certainly cropped up in a few articles, and his Dad has talked about how Lennon liked the idea of Italy after he had been talking to Lewis Ferguson and Scott McTominay - so it's not outlandish by any means.
  14. Would be hard to play worse, but I've been proved wrong before.
  15. The way things are seeded in the last 16 now, with typically 5 or 6 lower league non-seeds every year, you're more likely to draw one (unless your us, of course). Even this year there was a 50/50 chance of matching up with a lower league team. (I agree that it would be easy to fix if you wanted to). I wouldn't need much convincing, however, that the warm and cold balls was happening in the 70s.
  16. Every team that plays out from the back loses a goal like that - even the good ones like Liverpool. Brendan Rodgers had a point when he said that fans are quick to criticise when you lose a goal that way, but are quick to forget (or not even remember) when the long ball gets returned 10 seconds later for a goal - and that happens more often.
  17. What I'm saying about the seeding is that whether you like it or not, there's no point in worrying about it because our history shows it has made little (if any) difference to our progress in the competition. Personally, I think that by the time you reach the knockout stages in a cup competition there should be no seeding, but others may disagree. I'm not even a fan of the best runners up, tbh, but we just have to get on with it and keep winning.
  18. We were unseeded last season and got Killie at home in the first knockout round. Season before, we were seeded and drew St Mirren away.
  19. The Bluenose must have forgotten that they qualified from the same group as us the first year they changed the format in the 2016/17 competition.
  20. That's usually just manager (and club) speak for "he's negotiating a move, but we're not telling journos about it until it's complete" Minor niggles always seem to happen to players who are about to leave.
  21. Just heard JBA talking about the Ranger's game: "Next week we have some neighbours over for dinner. Let's hope we enjoy dinner the most" So maybe your chips will be fine.
  22. Good workout against a higher quality of opposition. Took a little while to adapt to the higher level opponents, but we improved in the second half. And more triangles than an Airport Toblerone.
