  1. The best thing about this game will be the enforced lack of patter about "Main coming back to haunt us".
  2. Even the good ones end up being sacked for failing later - McCall for example. That's not a Motherwell thing, more of a football thing where it's difficult to sustain any level of success over a number of seasons.
  3. The DUP blocked the deal.
  4. Most likely. He took a pretty heavy knock in the St Mirren game that led to his substitution, so either still injured or not being risked.
  5. It's rare we sell any player in January, never mind the good ones.
  6. Of all the issues that have plagued that club during their consecutive relegation years, I think Jack Ross is fairly low on the list.
  7. I don't disagree with that, but would add it depends on why they're not featuring right now. Gorrin was a good counter example that made an excellent (if short) contribution once he overcame his injury and fitness problems.
  8. I'm the opposite. I expect Turnbull will be first out the door (unless there are any players Robinson has decided won't make the grade and decides to shift). And if Turnbull does go, then there is no need to sell anyone else.
  9. I'm not so sure Dempster has much longer left at Hibs since the new owner took over. With relatively poor results on the field I suspect there might be a "new broom" approach by the end of the season. Especially as one the reasons Dempster joined was to recreate the fan ownership model in some form - a model that has bitten the dust under the new regime.
  10. To be fair, it was mostly McGhee that was touting McGhee for Celtic, Hearts and Scotland. Usually during Motherwell press conferences.
  11. The Scottish Sports Media is largely run for the benefit of the OF readership, so no surprises here.
  12. It's rare for late call-ups to get a game unless there really is an injury crisis. In a double header, if things are going well in the second game, they might get some minutes at the tail end, but the state we are in these days we're usually fighting for a result even at that stage.
  13. Only if he's fit enough to contribute. Don't want another Ross McCormack debacle.
  14. I think he was playing it cool with his "of course I scored from there - that's what I do" reaction.
  15. Much the same here. Last couple of times I saw us play Livi, they were very much following the "70 yard punts up the park every time we get the ball" tactics, so Gallagher really didn't have a chance to play his football. Although he was dangerous at set pieces. So I was a bit surprised to see what a good footballer he was. He's in the same mould (although not quite as good as) Alan Hansen. A solid defender who is good with the ball at his feet and rarely wastes a pass. I'm imagine if it wasn't for his legal issues, his career might have taken a different trajectory and ended up playing at a higher level than us.
  16. We were a bit shot-shy today, although we have scored more goals than any Premiership team outside the OF so can't complain too much. The fact that there is still room for improvement can only be a good thing. (I also read earlier today that we have had twice as many shots at goal than Aberdeen have managed so far this season).
  17. Take the money for Turnbull and let Polworth light a big cigar with some £20 notes as he bosses the midfield.
  18. Polworth and Campbell both guilty of not pulling the trigger today on a couple of occasions, but thought Polworth was still the best player on the pitch.
  19. Aye, he was definitely limping a bit after he was clobbered in the second half.
  20. Another good 3 points. St Mirren (Haldky in particular) made it difficult, but kept a clean sheet and finally killed it off.
  21. That's one way to manage the game. 3 points put to bed.
  22. Aye, St Mirren obviously have nothing to lose and have been more attacking, but we have had our chances to finish it off. Back to game management now to try and make sure we pick up the 3 points.
  23. Ilic on for Cole (who's worked hard, but nothing coming off for him today). Hartley just had a great tackle on Andreu who had burst through the centre at the edge of the box.
  24. Game is a lot more open, but we've had 2 or 3 good chances to put the game away. Polworth and Campbell both had times when shooting would have been better than passing. Seedorf hit a great ball into the 6 yard box, but no striker to finish, and Polworth's effort well saved by Hladky.
