  1. Exactly. The game has expanded to such an extent these days that any player who wants to stay a part of it can find a job in some capacity. Just look at the number of coaches a club like ours employs as part of Project Brave.
  2. I think it's more about the disappointment of losing a player to one of the bigot brothers. I imagine most fans would be happy to see him succeed if he was moving to almost any other club, but don't want anyone to succeed with that mob. I wouldn't be surprised to see Cadden move on in the summer, but at least from his interviews, he seems to have been quite happy sticking with us. Despite the fact that it feels like has been around forever, it's easy to forget Cadden is only 22.
  3. Davidson - Pettrigrew - goal!
  4. I've never been a fan of playing wingers or fullbacks on their wrong side. Frear needs to be on the left to be effective. If Cadden was fit, he should have been in right mid and Ariyibi or Frear on the left.
  5. No surprise Hasite is on the bench after Robinson's comments earlier in the week. Wonder if Semple will get any game time today.
  6. Clear(ish) red. Then Leeds missed the pen, went a goal ahead a few mins later and 10-man Wigan came back to win the game. So I guess you could say he took one for the team. (EDIT: just saw the highlights and wasn't easy to tell if it was deliberate handball or not).
  7. I'd put Craigan (who managed him every day) and Jim Goodwin - a seasoned professional and respected manager - in the category of people with "knowledge of the game". (But maybe I'm in the category of "people who have no knowledge of people who have knowledge of the game")
  8. If anyone makes an offer in the summer, they'll need to match our valuation. Given how much we brought in for Kipré, and the fact the Turnbull is signed until 2021, I don't think we'd sell ourselves short with any transfer fee.
  9. Based on the timing (at least according to Turnbull's interview I read, where he was taking the Mick) it sounded like he bought his new wheels on the back of the Rangers (non) deal. However, I'm sure his agent/manager will make sure he'll not be struggling for petrol money any time soon.
  10. He'll be struggling to make payments on his new motor if he doesn't sign for someone soon.
  11. Was good to see Campbell, Turnbull, Hastie, Cadden and Scott making an appearances recently (with Semple on the bench). 6 academy products in the same team is great progress and must be a huge selling point when we are trying to recruit.
  12. The problem with that is, of course, it wouldn't be applied with any more fairness than the current rules. So Ayr Utd would lose the game and the points if someone throw a coin on the pitch, but Rangers would get a stern warning if someone threw a bullet at Neil Lennon.
  13. The one thing you can be sure of is that if it's not stamped out quickly, the footballing authorities (or worse, the government) are going to bring in draconian punishments like hefty fines or stand closures. And the smaller clubs will be disproportionally affected.
  14. So they "had it coming"? It's one thing giving the ref and players a bit of verbals at a game - it can be part of the fun (it is supposed to be fun remember?) - but there is zero justification for throwing objects at the players, or even onto the pitch. And trying to claim a player somehow contributes to it by stealing a few yards at a throw-in is ridiculous. If you get so upset by the pantomime villains at a Motherwell match that you need to throw things at them, maybe football isn't for you.
  15. Not sure we'll find better defensive midfielders than Campbell and Gorrin - tucked in beside Turnbull and Cadden and I'd say that is one of our better line-ups. As for Livingstone - putting aside the fact that we have more points (and more wins) than them, and putting aside that abomination of plastic that their manager admits gives them an advantage - if we played the tactics they play every week, I'd cancel my Well Society subscription and pop my eyes out with a spoon.
  16. Our last 4 games have just reinforced the fact that we're one of the better bottom 6 teams, but not good enough to be top 6.
  17. The only surprising thing today is people are surprised at this performance. We do this every time. Rangers could field their Walking Football team and we'd still find a way to capitulate.
  18. "Best chance ever" "Let's get in about them" "Nothing to fear" etc. etc. (taken from the script for the past 20 years)
  19. Could write the script. Start off the better team, give a way a soft goal in the first quarter.
  20. Presumably based on this article in The Herald - although, it's pretty non-commital stuff about "not a closed door for me"
  21. I'm just glad to be old enough to remember the last time it happened!
  22. Lafferty was our lucky charm for his last few games against us at Hearts. Every time he scored, we won. No idea how this will turn out, but for the record, I hate 12:30pm kick-offs.
