It's not the trips abroad that are the problem. They don't want to upset the Old Firm by shaking up the current development structure and making things a bit more equal across the board. Last thing Rangers and Celtic want is stronger competition from the wee teams.
-
It is.

He's better than Kenny McLean, though,

Clarke doesn't exactly have a stellar track record of giving new caps even in friendlies. Meanwhile the U21s are getting gubbed 6 - 1 by Iceland as Gemmill continues his stellar youth coaching career.
-
I think you've confused us with Queen's Park.
-
I think the Scottish international side is in serious trouble thanks to years of short-termism and fundamental failings in the grass roots of our game. The Nations League quarter finals today, however, were all excellent.

Clarke should have gone at the end of the Euros. I'll give him credit for taking an omnishambles of squad and getting some results from them, but he hit a brick wall after that. His performances at both Euros exposed his lack of coaching skill and tactical nous with abject performances in every game. He has taken us as far as his talent permits, and needs to head off to a Director of Football role at some lower league team.

Souness had partially frozen him out at Ibrox after he preferred guys like Mark Walters, and Cooper wanted to play every week. Terrible decision by Souness to let him move on, but fantastic for us.

Scott McTominay sticking up for Lennon today:

I think that fact that we brought in Bobby Russell before that just made it a perfect fit for Cooper. The two of them could read each other's minds.

I didn't think he was done, because he was a player who relied on skill rather than speed. I wasn't hopeful, however, that we'd be able to sign him as Hearts had been the front runners. So was delighted when I picked up the Evening Times outside Argyle Street Station to read the news. In the mix for the finest player I've seen in a Motherwell jersey, but some stiff competition.

Fun season after a couple of really poor ones. Also loved that kit, but as I mentioned in the other thread, since I started following the team in 1970, we only had a hoop for one season prior to this, so design-wise it wasn't unusual. A little yellow, but nowhere near as yellow as the old Admiral one. Plus I do like an Adidas shirt.

He's destroyed any chance of a future job with his previous behaviour: Louise Taylor of The Guardian pointed to Davies' "paranoia", "self-destructive insecurities" and "obsession with conspiracy theories and old grudges" as the reasons behind his downfall, suggesting that he had "shattered" his reputation. The Daily Telegraph's John Percy, who was one of a number of reporters who were "accused of being in league with his former employers" for questioning decisions Davies made, said that Davies was "destined for failure" because he was "obsessed" with conspiracies and hidden agendas.

He didn't just mention it. His quote would be an answer to a direct question from a journo. More importantly, I hope Max Johnston is having a few conversations with Miller to tell him how good it is to make the move away from Scotland and play in Europe.
-
Not sure how you interpret his comments in a negative way. He made light of the "best player" comment and spent the rest of the time talking about how he had the right attitude and mentality and should be looking replace the old guard in the team: "At the same time, they're not here to make the numbers up, they're here to take our places if eventually they're better than the ones that are here and we no longer get called up." "So they need to have that confidence, they need to come here and not just make the numbers up, come here and try and get a starting position and then become a mainstay for years to come. “He definitely has the ability to do so and so does James. I watch Motherwell pretty regularly and my brother Paul always spoke about him highly."

The comments I saw from McGinn were nothing but supportive. Did he say something different after that?
-
If you want lack of pace, poor decision making, slack passing and questionable technical ability, look no further than Dan Casey.
-
McGinn doing what good captains do and sticking up for his new team mate instead of slagging him off.
-
If you read the full quote, Miller gave a pretty professional answer to what was a, no doubt, typically loaded journo question: I can't imagine any successful pro not having the mindset that "you need to want to be the best"

We always seem to be slow starters in the game after a break. Happened again on Saturday, so hoping Wimmer can figure out a way to get us on the front foot from the kick-off in the next game.
-
Aye, I think losing to Dundee, St Johnstone and Ross County has had a bigger impact. Teams are all over the place form-wise, though, so everyone else has been throwing away points too.
-
I think you're right. On current form, Utd seem the most likely to drop out the top 6. Aberdeen have just about enough in the bank to be safe and Hearts should be good enough to stay there. Would be some game at Fir Park, though, if the top 6 came down to the winner of the Hearts match.

Luminous doesn't look good on anything except tropical fish or safety jackets.

We should immediately write a letter to someone and then let the press know we are going to write a letter to someone and then let the press know again after we have written a letter to someone.

For people not old enough to have seen Alex Ferguson's St Mirren team, they were like a dirty, cheating version of today's.
