  1. Feels like some fans have been itching for this thread to start since Christmas. It doesn't matter who we blame, we don't make the decisions for next season. The usual suspects will be rolling out the usual names. It's been a bad season - not the worst - but very bad. The good news is that we are more secure financially and have already started the necessary restructuring of the club's operations. Imagine the state we'd be in if we were relegated this time last year. If we beat Rangers in the play-off final, this place will suddenly be the happiest place on earth. But the time for a post season analysis is post season. If you don't have the stomach for seasons like this from time to time, Motherwell is not the team for you.
  2. All the more reason to beat them 5 - 0 in the first leg.
  3. He's certainly good enough for the top flight in England. He's better than Ruddy (who is no slouch, to say the least) and Ruddy performed well at that level.
  4. I think the reason we are in a play off is because we are stinking too.
  5. We won't sell out even if we are 3 up after the first leg. We're not a sell-out kinda team.
  6. Got to be something to do with "Brothers-in-Law"
  7. Can we bring back Wulllie P and Bobby G at the same time?
  8. Unfortunately, that ship sailed the first time we let a TV company shift a kick-off time. All they care about is spectators at home or in the pub.

    Starting Now!

Would certainly go down as a worthwhile season if we managed to beat Rangers in the play-off.
  10. So basically, all we need is better players playing to higher standard more often for less money.
  11. In the past 10 or 15 years a change of personnel hasn't seemed to have helped us much at Ibrox. Of course, it would make a great end to a bad season if we beat them in the play-off final. More difficult than usual given the SFA's desire to see them back in the top flight. 2 or 3 dodgy pens per half likely the minimum required from the refs.
  12. TBF, Baraclough wasn't even meant to be there. This was set up as a Les Q&A, although I believe the gaffer was chatting to fans later in the evening. I have no idea what the solution to funding a club like ours is other than finding someone like the current owner who wants to give away his money rather than lend it. The SFA and SPFL are incapable of generating anything extra on our behalf, so it's up to the club. It's all very well saying we'd accept a lower standard, but we have a lower standard this season and nobody's accepting it. Same when we say we want to see the youngsters given a chance, and then moan when they don't play to a consistent level. If there was a simple answer, there would be a hundred clubs around the UK queuing up to implement it. I'm just glad it wasn't a South American consortium.
  13. Get the adidas strip back. That's what we wore when we were in the first division.
  14. Other things I heard 2nd hand -I that the plan for the loan is the club to repay rather than the Society. Derek Weir admitted that the club budgeted poorly, getting carried away with their wee bit of success and expecting it to continue to some degree. Leann wouldn't allow any changes to the Well Society payment structure, which is why it wasn't until she left they could start making changes. Erwin been offered 2 contracts, and "thinking it over with is agent". Development fee is complex but set formula, and would expect 6 figures if he left, and would continue to receive a small cut on any future transfer fees after that. Doesn't matter if he is out of contract when he leaves.
  15. My dad and brother were at the meeting last night and they came away with a completely different impression of that the reply. The questioner asked, I'm told, something along the lines of "How can you expect fans to pay for season tickets, Well Society membership, new kit etc." and Les's response was don't buy a season ticket - meaning if you had to choose, the Well Society is more important to the club in the long term than a season ticket. But who knows? I'm surprised nobody picked him up on that if they were that upset by it. Seems like anything was fair game to be asked, and nobody left until all the questions were exhausted.
  16. If we were interested in McDonald, we'd have been sounding him out long before the first day of summer.
  17. Les' view being perceived as fear mongering by some, but I'm struggling to see how his financial assessment of the club can be argued with. You know he's been through the books at a forensic level.
  18. Alternative could have been same price if we're relegated, 10% increase if we stay up.
  19. I would have expected that prior to the League Sponsorship deal. but now I expect that even if they don't get promoted the new deal will make sure they get an unfair split somehow.
  20. We certainly need to ditch a number of players. Injuries forced our hand to bring in extra bodies during the window, but that could never be more than a short term solution to meet an immediate need. Plus, you never get the best players in the January window.
  21. This is no time for facts to get in the way.
  22. Stuart McCall will be looking for a new job when Advocaat takes over in the summer. Maybe he's had time to work out a plan B by now.
  23. I'd imagine, given the choice between sitting on the bench at a better team, or playing every week with us, quite a few would choose the latter.
  24. I hope you continue you post your disappointment on here so we can all share it.
  25. And you can bet it's the same vultures who complained we don't give youth a chance.
