Almost every move away from Fir Park is engineered - from Keith McRae through Terry Butcher to Michael Higdon. Some are more public than others, but it happens all the time. I don't have any issues with Skippy. First of all because even after he knew he was moving on he still gave 100% in every game. Secondly, because any time I have heard him talk about his career he has had nothing but good things to say about his time at Motherwell. Pretty much my thoughts. I don't care how good the new players are (and they seem like a decent bunch) it's going to take a settling in period before they gel. Taking that into account, top 6 is a reasonable initial target before we start getting carried away. Plus, we may be relying on more youngsters this season, and that in itself will lead to a few inconsistent performances. Looking forward to it all though. Can't wait for it to kick off.

Nobody said it was "supposed" to be signed on Monday. McCall said last Friday he was "cautiously optimistic" it would be signed by Monday or Tuesday, but Faddy hadn't even been given a written offer at that stage. He also said yesterday that Faddy's agent was still telling him that other offers were coming in. Whatever the reasons, it has never been straightforward dealing with Faddy and his many advisors, and I agree that if we don't get it settled soon we need to move on to the next target.
