  1. Just need that winger now and we are ready to roll.
  2. Wealthy or not, they weren't putting money into the club's coffers when they went into administration a few years ago.
  3. Was about to say the same. I'd be thinking twice about 65 quid if we played them in a competitive match. To pay 65 quid to watch a training sessions is madness.
  4. Almost every move away from Fir Park is engineered - from Keith McRae through Terry Butcher to Michael Higdon. Some are more public than others, but it happens all the time. I don't have any issues with Skippy. First of all because even after he knew he was moving on he still gave 100% in every game. Secondly, because any time I have heard him talk about his career he has had nothing but good things to say about his time at Motherwell. And maybe I'm getting mellow in my old age, but getting outraged at badge kissing is hilarious.
  5. For regular punters it wouldn't do any harm at all. Our track record in Scotland, however, shows that there is a sufficiently large minority of roasters that make drinking at the match unworkable. The rules that are in place now came about after years of neddish behaviour on the terraces, a lot of which was due to the booze. I'm not against alcohol at games in general - I used to enjoy a half time pint when I lived down south and frequented Portman Road. I'd like to think we have moved on since the days of beer cans full of pish flying overhead and vomit on the steps, but I'm not convinced.
  6. It's a great argument for friendlies in Morecambe. Unfortunately, I think there are still too many roasters in the SP(F)L fan base who would quickly remind us why it was banned in the first place.
  7. He's away follow following his big team.
  8. Can I interest you in a wee bridge in Brooklyn I'm trying to offload?
  9. Apparently, in a similar vein to Motherwell using their friendly against Newcastle to fund the Alicante trip, Cowdenbeath are using the gate receipts for a trip to the chippy in Pittenweem.
  10. If we avoid giving away needless free kicks from 25 yards out, that will give us a head start on last year too. I never expect too much from these ties, but that doesn't mean I don't think we have a chance. Stranger things have happened - that's why old style Euro competitions (before all this league nonsense) were more entertaining.
  11. (Russian oil) barrel loads of cash, I imagine.
  12. Well it's not much further east than Moscow or the eastern border of Finland. Certainly more European than Israel.
  13. Pretty much my thoughts. I don't care how good the new players are (and they seem like a decent bunch) it's going to take a settling in period before they gel. Taking that into account, top 6 is a reasonable initial target before we start getting carried away. Plus, we may be relying on more youngsters this season, and that in itself will lead to a few inconsistent performances. Looking forward to it all though. Can't wait for it to kick off.
  14. KLM from Glasgow: 13hrs 2 stops and about 700 quid. (about the same price it would take me to fly from here, and about the same duration).
  15. $1763 round trip from New York but at least the city has an airport. Won't be going - just curious on prices.
  16. Defender from the U20s (squad number 35)
  17. From his press conference today, sounds like McManus was an unexpected bonus signing for McCall and he is looking for Ramsden to slot into right back. So Reid is likely surplus to requirements now.
  18. And so the "pant wetting" patter stops.
  19. I have, but nothing interesting has arrived. Maybe you're on the insiders list.
  20. Which is how it should be, of course. The internet has turned into a place where people (not just football fans) prefer rumours/speculation/bad information etc. instantly rather than facts later.
  21. You want to know who is holding up the deal, why it's being held up and when it will be complete. The only business detail missing from that is the financial terms.
  22. No way is anyone releasing confidential business details.
  23. Nobody said it was "supposed" to be signed on Monday. McCall said last Friday he was "cautiously optimistic" it would be signed by Monday or Tuesday, but Faddy hadn't even been given a written offer at that stage. He also said yesterday that Faddy's agent was still telling him that other offers were coming in. Whatever the reasons, it has never been straightforward dealing with Faddy and his many advisors, and I agree that if we don't get it settled soon we need to move on to the next target.
