  1. In my lifetime, Aberdeen have had success that we can only dream of. They won the Premier League 3 times, the Scottish Cup 6 times, the League Cup 4 times, the European Cup Winners Cup once and the European Super Cup once. Apart from one League Cup, all the others came in the 80s or 90s. The media aren't very imaginative at the best of times, so on the rare occasions that they are looking outside of the OF for a story, it's not surprising that Aberdeen are the first team that come to mind as, for a period, they really did upset the Glasgow dominance (along with Dundee Utd). Lazy on their part, of course, but I wouldn't expect any less on their part. Back to the game itself, it looks like the club understands the fans' priority this season, so let's hope the performance reflects that.
  2. Damn. Hope we haven't already spent the compensation cash.
  3. The first shout or the second? There is an argument for ball to hand for the first (although I have seen them given), but I have watched the second one a few times now and it looks like a stonewaller to me. Thankfully, it didn't make any difference.
  4. See, definitely trolling now. Unless Anier, Neilsen & Ainsworth are local boys. And Sutton hasn't been too shabby either if you want to call him local. Not as prolific as Higdon yet, but you spouted your trolling opinion about him too until it collapsed under the weight of its own obviousness. A career awaits as sub-editor for a tabloid.
  5. Laziest trolling I have ever seen on here.
  6. I'd be sorry to see McCall leave, but I'd rather he left because he was successful than he leaves by "mutual consent" after a bad spell. At least that way we'd still be in good shape and have a few extra quid in the bank thanks to his buy-out clause.
  7. Exactly. Comparing any keeper to Randoplph is like complaining Sutton isn't as good as Wullie Pettigrew and Lasley will never be a McAllister.
  8. Sutton has grown more confident as the season has progressed and I think he will give the Hearts defence a tough time. That, plus the fact he has a point to prove, makes me predict a 3 - 1 win.
  9. Last time around the Blades forums didn't seem to rate him. Mostly full of patronising stuff about 'SPL success doesn't count because it's a wee league' etc.
  10. This. Plus the CIS Cup Final and finishing bottom of the league makes me think people are viewing the past with claret and amber tinted specs. Nothing against Butcher - he was the right man at the right time for the club, but we are a better team and have played better football overall in the past few years than we ever did under Butcher.
  11. He was, but he did talk about coming of the bench to run at Izaguirre with fresh legs.
  12. Where did you get that information? McCall said he was only ever meant to get 45 - 60 mins (because he played the full 90 against Livi) and they took him off at half time because he felt his hammy tighten.
  13. Absolutely. Shame to see him go, but always good to see the talent at our 'provincial' club being recognized.
  14. The only one I ever knew was: Oh, Wullie, Wullie.. Wullie, Wullie, Wullie Pettigrew!
  15. Confirmed on Twitter - Gordon Young leaving.
  16. A small sample set, but when I have seen him on MFC TV playing for the U20s, he always looked the part. Unfortunate with his injury last season, but good to see he has made a full recovery and banging in the goals again.
  17. McCall said in his post-match that the plan had been to give Faddy 45 - 60 minutes in this game seeing as he had played a full 90 against Livingston. At half time he said he was feeling some tightness in his hamstring so they kept him off for the second 45.
  18. Chris Humphrey owned their back 4 last season, so I'm confident if we play with a bit of pace in the team we can win this by a couple.
  19. Quarter final of a (seeded) League Cup is unlikely to produce anything fresh.
  20. Aye, because jinxes are real (scientific fact).
  21. Ramsden for Sunderland (Manager!) Is someone on a wind-up? Read this in the rumours in today's Scotsman
  22. Morton fans were not chuffed in the run up to that game either. Having said that, we are quite capable of blowing a League Cup tie to lower league opposition.
  23. Priority number one is winning this tie. If we can get some of the fringe players involved during the game that is great, but only if it doesn't risk our chances of moving into the next round.
  24. He'd have a lot to live up to at Firhill given Lawless' SPFL goal tally (total of 2; both against Ross County)
