  1. From the reports earlier in the week it seemed like United were going to have to up their offer. I'm sure negotiations are in place, but they were far advanced last year too with Blackpool. It does seem, however, that we need to sell, but I wouldn't be surprised to see other bids come in for Murph before it's all signed and sealed.
  2. Aye, I noticed that too. Hopefully it will be available in the next couple of days.
  3. Higdon's contract is up at end of season though (isn't it?), so if - and it's a big if - Porter came back north he could be a replacement rather than a striking partner.
  4. I like Murph, but I'd bite yir hand off for Porter.
  5. Except maybe being able to pay the wages of the other players (or other debts), for example. For a wee club like us, it's all about cashflow. We have done well in holding off bidders for our better players in the past few seasons, but everyone on the Board, plus the gaffer himself, seem to think that we need to raise some cash this window.
  6. I'd be quite happy to for him to see out another couple of mediocre seasons.
  7. From the Evening Times Of course, money talks and players want to advance their careers, but it's always encouraging to hear players show some amibtion with the club and express how much they enjoy being a part of this team.

    Aberdeen

I agree it's sad (although we always seem to cope with departures). From a purely selfish, financial perspective, though, it's good to see potential targets hitting top form around the transfer window and possibly bump up their price!
  9. At the risk of sounding like I'm on commission (I wish) I see the Aberdeen programme is available for purchase today.
  10. I must just have a blind spot when it comes to Ferguson as I see him as an overrated OF player. And I don't think it's Rangers bias as I have appreciated a number of their players over the years. I put guys like Bobby Russell, Souness and even Jim Bett miles ahead of Ferguson in terms of ability. I'm not saying he's shite - he can obviously play a bit and would likely offer something, but right now, if you offered me the chance of Jennings or Ferguson, I'd take Jennings. For all that, though, there is no chance of him coming to us.
  11. I'm in the camp that wants someone to put their foot on the ball, but I never saw what others saw in Ferguson. For me, guys like Lambert were far superior. What we are currently missing though is a bit of dig in the midfield; someone who can break up play and hold up opposition attacks. Even if I was to buy into the Ferguson camp, he does not fit that particular bill.

    Ojamaa

Good job we didn't sign him as a striker then.
  13. From all the rumours, it seems like Rangers will be signing every available SPL player as soon as their 'ban' is lifted. Imagine how sickening it will be for the guys on the bench who can't even get a game in Division 2.
  14. I do beg to differ. There is no such thing as being due a win or due a loss. If there was, teams that are top of the league would be due a loss every week. But somehow that doesn't happen. Having said that, I certainly didn't predict an easy victory for us here. The reason being that St. Mirren have a style and tactical set up that has successfully frustrated us the past couple of seasons. As 'Flow pointed pointed out in the commentary, St. Mirren's tactics were similar to an away team at Fir Park - and we know how successful those can be. What we need to learn is, not how to break down teams like that (because it seems that we can one way or another), but rather, not lose focus defensively and give up soft goals on the counter. If we can tighten up at the back, games like this might be a bit of a grind, but we would be picking up more points.
  15. A myth favoured by many fans of many teams and which falls apart if you check the stats.
  16. Shuggie Sproat. Famous for the tache, "Shuggie Shuggie, swing on the bar!", marking opposing centre forward a the half way line when we were taking a corner, having a snowball fight with fans while the play was in the other half.
  17. Who says they are gone? Who says they won't be replaced? We have lost better players than those 2 and gone on to not only survive, but improve. It's not like this is a new situation for us and we seem to cope. Financially we have taken a hit recently because of our lack of selling, so it's inevitable that sooner rather than later we need to shift some bodies out the door.
  18. Mostly due to not selling a player for quite a few years, I believe. We budget for one a season and haven't sold any for quite a few seasons.
  19. I 100% believe that Murphy is a transfer target and it certainly makes sense to sell him on. But if figures are being discussed with anyone outside the 1 or 2 people that are working on a deal, then someone at the club needs to be sacked.
  20. 'Fishul highlights are inconclusive too.
  21. It flashed up briefly for me when I installed the app and haven't seen it since.
  22. Gannon had a pretty big rebuilding job to do.
  23. Exactly. We have a small squad and limited finance. To pay a player for 6 months and not use them would be a farcical waste of resources. Any player with half a brain that wants to move on should be trying to impress potential suitors.
