Normally, I'd agree with that, but this season is a little different. We had an earlier start than most last season, plus a later finish and then a short summer before this season kicked off. That is a completely different routine from the one these guys have been trained for over the years, and the increased intensity over the short summer might require a wee rest. Of course, I could be wrong. I often am.

I thought you'd picked up some spelling tips from your facebook pals You're spot on with your original point, though. I was a bit disappointed by getting turned over again by Rangers, but have come to expect that. Big picture is that even while a couple of loan signings short, we have put a fair number of points on the board early on, which immediately takes some pressure off the team. The style of football being played is also heading in a positive direction and it was definitely a bonus to be in top spot there for a while. The best start to a season I can remember for many years.

And Nicky Law has a pathological hatred of AD 730 nomads? Whether you agree with it or not (and of course the police were heavy handed), all these issues come down to context. If you live in the West of Scotland you unfortunately grow up knowing the terms of abuse used on both sides of the sectarian shenanigans. h*n is one such word, Tim is another. Mild, perhaps, and open to other definitions away from the parochial world religous bigotry - but to pretend they are used at OF football matches to discuss the finer points of human history is stretching it just a wee bit.

It's basic sports psychology - don't even mention negatives. There's nothing wrong with acknowledging you are playing a good team, but saying the only way you can beat them is if they have an off-day is the wrong attitude. Even if you only say it to the media, the players still hear it. Same with the "we don't get judged against the Old Firm" comment. The better approach is the "if we play our best we can match any team on the day". I don't care so much that our record against Rangers is so poor. It's that more often than not the mental approach to the game seems all wrong and we end up folding like a cheap suit.

It's outrageous and must stop!! "Overreaction" is one word, not two. And this from the published author, no less.
-
I'd hate to be part of the team talk that went 'Fingers crossed lads, they might have an off day and we won't get humped".
-
It's a Cup game. Anything better than a loss is acceptable in each and every round.
-
I agree with that. How about "We need to make them have an off day"? We need to be in about them from kick-off to the final whistle.

However, Motherwell said that they had talked to him. Either way, regardless of the spin put on the story, do you really think a guy like Sutton would have put pen to paper before he listened to what others had to offer? Even footballers are smarter than that.
-
Slip away how? By not offering to double his salary like Hearts did? If his agent didn't tell him to hold on until all the offers were on the table, then he should be sacked.

If you knew where I worked you would realise I do have a clue. However, putting your ill informed criticism to one side, the fact that many other clubs already offer a version of such a service proves it is completely feasible (including the managing of the licensing rights). 3 or 4 years ago a company (scottishfootball.co.uk I think it was) offered live SPL games on the internet. That was just one camera coverage and the quality even back then was excellent. Technology has moved on since those days, so there is no reason to think it can't be implemented by the club. That particular company even hired commentators, but to be honest, I don't see any need for that.

Alternatively, don't screen the game live at 2:15pm on a Sunday afternoon.

I'm pretty sure that McCall did mention a few weeks ago that there was budget to buy another player and bring in one or two loans.
-
No, I was just responding in kind to your comment that we didn't have more than 11 players. We might not have the depth yet, but we have more than 11 players that can do a job.

Las back in. Keep Forbes in. McHugh and Higdon up front. Humph and Murph on the bench as the speed merchants.
-
Actually, I think I'd prefer jet lagged and knackered first team players than some enthusiastic reserves looking to make a name for themselves. Let's keep it tight for the first hour and then bring on our speed merchants in the last 30 mins to finish them off.
-
Possibly, although Murph relies more on his speed while Rosco was more of a ball player in my eyes.

I thought for these events, if you are a non-Trust member, they let you pay an 'entrance fee' and that fee covers the cost of joining the Trust too.
-
I'd also throw Ipswich and maybe even Blackpool into that mix.

A lot of it is down to the character and ambition of the individual (not to mention talent). There are plenty of good players who have warmed the OF benches and various benches down south. McAllister and Lambert are guys who were very successful after moving away from Scotland. Others have not prospered. The same can be said for players moving to the OF. It's very much risk and reward. If you have confidence in your own ability, heading south is a gamble, but the payoff can be huge. Sticking with the OF pretty much guarantees League titles, Cup Finals, an annual Champions League qualifier and a few Europa Cup games. It's a comparatively safe option if you make the first team but you are still only playing for a relatively small fish in an even smaller pond.

Loan signings won't come until around 31st August (when the EPL teams have their squads finalised). I've been reading of a few Championship managers in the same predicament.
-
The simple solution is to stop reading it. I gave up on The Rancid and its kin many years ago (including the online version) and don't miss it for one second. Haven't missed it for one second.

Just watch the game itself. Undoubtedly a great occasion for the club, but a terrible game of football from a Motherwell perspective. Made Levein's 6-4-0 look like all out attack.

Half time entertainment to me was always the other half-time scores from around the league. A: 1 - 0 B: 0 - 0 C: 2 - 1 etc. and then having to decipher them from the programme.
