  1. St. Mirren will be flying for the first 20 or 30 mins. If we can keep it tight and quieten down the crowd we have a chance. (Sorry, was that too many football manager clichés?)
  2. There are many more young Scottish players coming through the ranks these days than in recent years. Even the OF are using a lot more home grown players. You can't create them overnight, however, so short term there will still be a mix of overseas and local talent in Scottish teams. So, in other words, I think your basic premise is wrong
  3. Internet stream available here and working for the overseas Dossers too. Fancy a draw today, hoping we sneak a win.
  4. If he said "never" then he hasn't quite grasped the concept of democracy and/or kickbacks. However, to quote my favourite TV judge, I wouldn't trust anything a Lanarkshire councillor said if their tongue came notarised. There were councillors that told my parents a supermarket would never be built behind their house. Then Safeway had a wee chat to Mr. Dewar and his cronies and guess what happened?
  5. I don't think anybody has ever said (or even implied) that this is likely to happen soon.
  6. A 5000 seater plastic legoland stadium wouldn't be better, no.
  7. Exactly. He may not be a Motherwell Man, but neither was wee Tommy, and he did no' bad. I have been a big critic of McGhee's words and actions in the past. However, he made his choice to stick with us this season, even if it was at the airport, and I'm happy to support him and his team.Of course, that doesn't mean I won't moan about some of his decisions, but I still think he has the ability to turn the season around and move us up the table.

    Maroš Klimpl

Good news. Here's hoping he lives up to the hype
  9. I think that's being a wee bit overdramatic Even if we added nobody to the squad, I don't think there is any danger of us being relegated. We will always have problems attracting quality players because we can't afford big transfer fees or big wages. Bosmans aren't much better, because the players expect to get a big signing bonus instead. Can anybody even name 2 or 3 commanding centre halves we should be pursuing that fall within our budgetary constraints?
  10. I agree telly is here to stay, but it is still the biggest factor in smaller crowds. So get used to that too. We could let the fans in free every week and I guarantee we still wouldn't come close to filling the ground.
  11. While cost is a factor, I still think the simplest solution to increasing the gates is to have all games kick off at 3pm in a Saturday afternoon. The staggered kick-offs and saturation of live games on the telly means only the diehards are going to attend a game.
  12. The guy has the potential to be an excellent manager. He has spent a long time researching and studying the methods of top European clubs, and knows how he wants the game to be played. The biggest problem he has appears to be dealing with the Board. At his last two clubs he has fallen out with the Chairmen because he didn't get exactly what he wanted, exactly when he wanted it. Similarly, when he was being touted for the Scotland job, he basically talked himself out of it before he was even interviewed, by mouthing off about what a poor job the SFA were doing, and what would need to be changed before he deemed it worthy of consideration. If he can keep that side of his ego in check, he could do well at Forest. He certainly likes his teams to play a bit of football, which should suit your club.
  13. Especially when the guy was playing behind the Gretna defence.
  14. Pettigrew. One touch and accelerates away from the 2 defenders then passes it into the far corner. That man could play.
  15. I think the OF make up a very small minority of that. Most of them are folk like ourselves who can't make it to many games due to the distances involved, or have to pick and choose due to finances. The Dossers were flying in from around the globe for the Cup Final - that just isn't going to happen for ICT.
  16. I was at that game too. Didn't Killie have to win by something like 5 goals as well to make sure a draw wasn't good enough for the Jambos to go up; and Killie were winning 5 - 0 at half time. Also, Willie Irvine's goal made him top scorer for the season, and took him to 30 goals. It's been a while, so none of these 'facts' might be true Grand day out.
  17. It certainly separates the legible from the illegible OMG!!! Ponies!!!
  18. I don't see a conflict of interest. 'Flow posts in his role as Fancy Dan Webmeister (or whatever it is ) on behalf of the club. He has no ability (or reason) to stop anybody posting or discussing the club on this site.
  19. Because almost every sports team in the world used it every week in the 70s
  20. Well, I think it was a better squad than the ones I watched win the First Division
  21. Good man. If you need any help with testing etc. give me a shout.
  22. Anybody have a link to highlights for the BBC restricted among us? I forgot it was being shown on Alba, so missed the chance to stream it
  23. Refraining from jumping up and down like Terry Butcher doesn't equate to a lack of passion. There are plenty of top managers/coaches in many sports who show no emotion. Their passion is focused on the training ground, and in the detailed preparation for each game.
  24. Pettigrew, Graham, McRae, Marinello, Wark, McLair (the first time), Gregor Stevens (the first time), Jaws Forsyth, Nijholt, Tommy Boyd (especially when he played sweeper), McVie, Coyne, Cooper, Bobby Russell, Faddy, Gahagan, Uncle Phil, Stevie Kirk, Shuggie Sproat, Brian Heron, Jumbo Muir, Kirkie Lawson, Dixie Deans, both Psychos etc. etc. Been lucky enough to have seen many great players and characters strut their stuff at Fir Park. Impossible to pick even a top 10.

Not a bad way to end a wee dry spell.
