  1. Agreed. I said it early in the Euro campaign, but it's worth repeating. JB did a good business in selling some bankable players and bringing in Gannon as early as he did. With the uncertainty over Setanta etc. plus the money we spent on the pitch, it appears he has made a decent job of balancing the books without hurting the team too much. By taking action early, he appears to have found a good manager and given him time (and money) to get some players in. Meantime, some of our rivals are still struggling to rebuild. No doubt Boyle has made some mistakes in the past, but I think he took some tough (but timely) decisions this time that will pay dividends.
  2. It's summer football, mate. Won't catch on.
  3. Who cares? They are better ignored. What's the point of dragging ourselves down to their level?

    Paul Mcgrillen

Maybe we should hear the club's side first. They obviously paid their respects on the official web site, so they certainly haven't been ignored.
  5. I think Accies are in trouble, but they do have a lot of new players and will likely improve to some extent. I doubt the new players are as good as the ones they lost, mind you.
  6. Doesn't matter. 130,000 people in the city means less than 5% of them need to turn up to get a 6,000 crowd. We need about 20% of the population of Motherwell to turn out to get 6,000. Anyway, pointless argument for this thread. Should have been 4 there!
  7. If you base it on population, there should more people at the Dundee match every week (even if the city is split 50/50 with Utd.)
  8. Proxies let you pretend that you are accessing the BBC website from the UK. It doesn't always work, but the way the BBC have set their live broadcasts up this season increases the chances of success. Working a charm today.
  9. It's here, but UK only. Time to brush up on your knowledge of proxies!
  10. You mean it wouldnae be fair if opposition fans started their own songs about it?
  11. From his interview, it didn't' sound like he was breaking his neck. His concern seemed to make sure he brings in the right players before the window closes rather than worrying about signings before the Killie game.

    Don't forget the origami unicorn.
  14. On a positive note, JG did say in his interview that if his target at right back fell through, he had a couple of back-up targets. So hopefully we'll see some progress there next week too.

He does say it will be great to play for Motherwell against Rangers, but apart from that it's just stuff about how his dad used to take him to Ibrox when he was a player there.
  16. They're Rangers fans then.
  17. Square bar at that. A proper round one and it might have gone in.
  18. Walker, I think. Don't remember how late the equaliser was in the Skol Cup semi against Shellic in '86, but it generated some excitement too. Until the penalty shoot-out.
  19. Aye, he stopped playing in the SPL and managed 1 goal out of 25 games in the Championship. If you can't score in that league (where the eventual winners condeded 52 goals last season), there is something seriously wrong. Just ask Rosco.
  20. On the Beeb interview, JG said the discsussions were 'protracted" and the deal might not be done in time for the weekend.
  21. I liked Stokes when he was at Falkirk, but the guy has only scored 4 goals in 2 years since then. Something obviously didn't work out for the guy.
  22. I think that's the key. In an early JG interview he said he wanted to sign 4 or 5 players on permanent deals and 2 or 3 on loan. The idea being that he needed to put together a team for the short term and give himself a chance to evaluate what is available to him for the long term. He might even manage to do another Ruddy with an option to buy.
  23. To steal a comment about Charlie Cooke, "When Bobby Russell sold you a dummy, you had to pay to get back in".
  24. Woods is nowhere near our worst keeper.
