  1. Higdon, just ahead of Hateley who's really made the RB slot his own, and Law who's lung-bursting runs forward late in the game were a highlight. The big man won 90%+ of everything that went his way, played some great link up stuff and considering he's just back from injury, kept it going late on. John who?
  2. The test of a decent striker is when he's playing for an opposition team, and you genuinely fear he's going to score against you. Boyd had it with the 'Gers, Higdon had it with the Bairns and the Buddies, Sutton didny really. Good signing, now if we could only get Vadocz back in midfield......
  3. I placed an order for two 'Well cup final scarves Tuesday afternoon online, as I wasn't sure I'd be able to get out to the shop this week before the game. They arrived today, Special Delivery, next day shipping and delivery. Fantastic service, given that its probably the busiest time for years in the shop. Kudos to Alan, SCDave and all the shop staff.
  4. Thank f**k for that, without an MJC defeat prediction, we would indeed be doomed. All set up for a nervy win by the odd goal or 'nalties. Lucky tae be about 15 minutes from Hampden so aff furra wee pre match swally in 10.
  5. We never, ever win a game unless MJC predicts a defeat, fact. However, doesny necessarily fill me with confidence, can see a victory by the odd goal in a 2-1, or 1-0, in a nerve jangling, nail shredding match. Hopefully its gonny be us.....

    Hibernian

Crazylegs Saunders for me, for the goal, a few impressive runs in the second, generally solid all round. Just edging big Hutch who's gonny be an absolute defensive ledge for us in seasons to come....nae nonsense, blood and snotters centre half, canny beat it.
  7. RIP, always sad to hear at this time of year. Hopefully the boys'll do him proud against the Gers.
  8. Would agree with the previous posts on Gow, think he's got infinitely more skill and touches to offer than Sutton, who is more of a blunt instrument, albeit one who gives 100%. Once Gow gets a few more games, he'll be a massive asset, you could see what his brain was trying to achive but he was just a bit rusty. Today, for the first time since the McGhee 4-3-3 with Porter, Rossco and Clarky, I thought we showed glimpses of a great attacking side, Blackman, Murphy, Gow plus the Hump oot wide looked pure class at times. Marry that to a solid back 4, and a good centre mid combo in Jenno and Keef, if we don't suffer an injury crisis, it could be a helluva ride this season...
  9. Bumped this up, just heard wee Craigy mention that Humphrey missed training this Friday owing to his partner giving birth. Congrats, as someone who's been though the same, all the best to the Hump, his partner and the new arrival
  10. Canny find my post from the last time we won at Swinecastle, think it was along the lines of: Jim Jeffries, Rudi Skacel, John Robertson, Walter Kidd, Jimmy Sandison, Alex McDonald, Ian Baird, Gary Mackay and other assorted Jambo pondlife from across the generations, this ones for you. 'Roon ye ya muppets
  11. I get more worried when MJC predicts a win, causes ripples in the space-time continuum and means we're doomed. Seriously, coming off the back of a good away win, a beatable team at home, with a manager with previous, means that, by the sheer nature of the MFC rollercoaster it'll be a draw. 1-1 for me, Wolfboy with a disputed penalty for the Sheepies, last 5 minute deflection off Craigans arse at a set-piece for us.
  12. I think thats a possibility Melvin, the big thing that Gow offers as opposed to Forbes is that he has pace so can play wide in a midfield 4, as opposed to Forbes, who's resticted to a central role, alternatively the left had side of a midfield three. An interesting possibility, given our surfeit of defensive/holding mids is a 4-2-3-1 along the lines of: Randolph Saunders Craigan Reynolds Hammell Hateley Jennings/Lasley Humphrey Murphy Gow/Forbes Sutton/Blackman You've then got a very strong right hand side, Hately and the Hump have both filled in at right back at some point, therefore offer protection to Saunders. You've also got options in the 3, Gow obviously being the better in terms of pace than Forbes. Murphy and Gow would be pretty much interchangeable in that formation though, either I reckon would do a pretty decent shift behind/just-off Sutton. Whatever formation, its a decent signing IMHO, gives us creativity and pace we lost with JOB
  13. Was watching it in section B of the East, as I recall he picked up the ball in the wide right area near the corner flag, cut across two defenders on the edge of the box, and curled it in left-footed into the top corner. Quality.
  14. So the wee twist was we're playing 10 wi' no Keef then..?
  15. Aye congrats Syd, can recommend the baby gear in the Club Shop, MearnsJnrs 'Well bibs and fleecy blankets are still going strong 3 years down the line. So its the 'Pregnancy and Baby 11' on OTB tomorrow then? Tommy Teething Ring, starter for 10...
  16. Quality, lets show the OF muppets how to play in Europe....(!)
  17. This is a Lanarkshire forum mate, deep fried surely?
  18. Gonny go for the fashionable 4-2-3-1 : -----------Ruddy------------- Kaiser---Craigan---Reynolds---Hammell ---------Vadocz----Lasley--------- R.McCormack----Pearson------McFadden --------------Porter---------------- Defensive solidty, creativity/dig/athleticism in front of the back 4, Faddy/Pearo/Hammell interplay down the left (we finished bottom but it was fun to watch at times), and Porter leading the line. Difficult choice between him and Skippy, but he's been the best 'big' frontman in terms of overall movememt, goals and quality in the last 10 years. And the entertainment value of Faddy and Rossco. I'd pay to watch that side...
  19. Shuker sounds like a natural replacement for O'Brien, plus the Tranmere connection may mean than Jennings knows him/his style of play from old. Interesting, look forward to hearing the reports from the game...
  20. Randy and Hutch. Quality. Almost a 70s throwback.... Naah, seriously, if Reynolds does get a move, big Hutch is going to be massive for us, has the makings of a cult defensive hero.
  21. Is Tommy McLeans old travelling rug going to be making a re-appearance over Craigy's legs and lower torso, seeing as his circulations bound to be going rapidly downhill now...? Oh, and thats from that rarity, a Newton Mearns resident without a blue rinse Syd...
  22. Anyone transfer it over to YouTube? The whole game highlights are on there, but the Juke's goal with Deek going mental is class. Deserves preserved for posterity if/when the Beeb pull it. Football porn for years to come...
  23. Awesome. Just awesome. One long multiple scoregasm. Still suffering post traumatic stress disorder today. Never in my 35+ years as a fan have I went from such an epic low at 6-2 to an epic high in the space of 25 minutes. The Jukes goal is actually better than Van Bastens as he was holding off a defender prior to creating space for a volley, Van Basten was in space and hit it on the drop. Doesn't mean as much as Psycho's but its in the top two of all time deffo.
  24. The RB/Hately angle is a red herring, we have options for cover at RB with Saunders albeit his preferred shout is CB. Saunders/Craggs/Hutch for centre back slots, Saunders/AN other for RB. We have an embarrasment of riches almost in midfield, if Coke leaves it ain't the end of the world. Perm a centre mid combo from Jennings, Hately and Las, possibly Fizzy and Forbes also. Mmmmm.....
  25. Walter Kidd, Jimmy Sandison, John Robertson, Ian Baird, Rudi Skacel, Sauliuis Mikaulunus, Jim Jeffries, Gary Locke and any other Jambo pondlife down the generations whose names don't immediately spring to mind, this ones for you. 'Roon ye ya muppets Beating the OF is special but beating Hearts at Tynecastle is better than sex....
