  1. Us auld yins who remember Stevie Woods are nodding sagely and smirking. Melvin, as always, hits the nail on the heid...
  2. Catenaccio. Karma. Proud. That is all....
  3. Probably one of the best 'blood and snotters' centre halfs I've seen in my years at FP. Will be missed.
  4. Lasley. Omnipresent.
  5. He's the epitome of the languid trequartista, which means yer average baying work rate/get it up the park punter isny going to appreciate him unfortunately. I do appreciate a quality playmaking pass myself, and Vigurs can be top drawer in this regard.
  6. That wee left back, Danny whatshisname, who came in while Hammy was at Southend along with two other diddies? Murder. Oh and Joe McLeod anyone..?
  7. Awesome. As well as a great result in its own right, nice to get a wee bit of revenge for a couple of earlier FP results this season, plus burst the media New Firm revival bubble alongside the Buddies. Just think what we can do when we start playing half decent and Faddy comes onto a game...

    Lasley. Omnipresent. That is all.
  9. Good shout, on the back of this, any moves to make wifi available to fans in the stands to save chewing through data allowances on 3G? I know this is jumping the gun in the East where warm water in the wash basins in the bogs would be nice but, hey...
  10. 4-3-3 is a good shout, Hately was superb as the holding mid in a three in the Gannon era, he doesn't work as part of the middle two in a 4. With Saunders on the way back and Devlins loan ending in January, we have options at right back.
  11. MJC has predicted a win, which has caused a major ripple in the space-time continuum and means we're f**ked. Scrappy 0-0 or them to sneak it by the odd goal unfortunately. Hope I'm proved wrong however.
  12. Based on a 4-4-2 Randolph Kaiser Craggs Hutch Hammell McFadden Vadocz Lasley Humphrey Porter McDonald Identical midfield 4 to Melvin, difficult call between Las and Jenno for midfield 2 partner for big Krisztian, both would work. Widemen based on adrenaline factor, admittedly the Hump polarises opinion, but when he knocks it past a fullback and turns on the afterburners, its pure entertainment. Until he tries to cross... Porter for me best big forward due to speed, tidy feet and clinical finishing. Wee Skippy just ahead of Rossco up front. Purely on goals scored. The front three of Porter, Rossco and Clarky of Year 1 McGee era was arguably the best frontline I can remember when it clicked.
  13. Want to see us beat this shower just the once, even more than seeing Faddy or Vadocz re- sign. All of these appear equally as unlikely however. Scunnered, that is all.
  14. The Heed. The tackle from behind on Hasslebaink in the box late on in the second half was quality.
  15. The objective clearly was to retain possession and keep it low tempo first half to conserve energy, second half we fell apart the first 10-15 minutes and allowed them back in. We then showed good character to get the equaliser with 10 men, and could've won it with big Higgy and the Heeds blaze over at the end. First visit to the Citadel for a while owing to various other commitments, encouraged by 'Arry and the Heed in the middle of defence. Great run out in the first half by Ramsden, canny mind the last time I saw a centre half with composure on the ball ending up in the oppo 18 yard box after a run. Deffo deserves to keep his plaice... The Heeds tackle on Hasslebaink in the box late on in the second was one that Tam Forsyth would've been proud of. Quite like Lasley and Law in the middle, but without the Hump we are unbalanced, particularly with Omar and Ojaama off form as they were today. Smith and McHugh were OK, could do with a coupla signings to beef us up in the middle/oot wide as others have said, however this may be unrealistic in the current climate.
  16. Securing a Champions League place is special. But securing it with a win over the Jambos at Tynecastle is better than sex....
  17. The Hump. Just plain awesome. End of.

    Vs Hearts

Doesn't get any better than beating Hearts with 10 men. Walter Kidd, Alex McDonald, John Robertson, Jim Jeffries, Rudi Skacel, Ian Baird, Ian Black, Jimmy Sandison and your entire pondlife Jambo creed throughout the generations....ROONYEZ YA MUPPETS!!!!!! MearnsJnr "Why are you waving to the fans in South Stand daddy?" after we scored the 3rd (Daddy was giving the entire South the Gareth Hunt...)

    Ojamaa

Surely this is more appropriate no? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXmhyc_QynE Oh, and to follow on from the Sherriff mugs and t-shirts in the shop, giant foam pointy hands for the 'Wellboys in the East pur-lease
  20. +1, the finish for the Murphs first was great, the Hump made a great impact as sub and created the last two goals.
  21. It was spookily reminiscent of the Gannon era at times today, tippy-tappy stuff around the back 4 and goalie, with Forbes and Hately sitting in front of the back 4. As others have said, we were lucky the Spiders didny have their shooting boots on, particularly in the first half of the second. Pluses for me today were McHugh and Ojamaa, latter was tidy, hungry and sharp and will be a valuable addition on this showing. The less said about Page and Forbes the better, was looking forward to a wee swatch at Halsmann but tactics dictated horsing them with pace via the Hump in the last 20. Worked.
  22. Not of the Joe Wark era myself so can't comment, however would rate Rab McKinnon just ahead of Hammell, albeit I've probably seen more of wee Stevie than any other MFC left back in my time, since I moved back to Scotland and renewed my season ten years back. Stevie is great for reliability, consistency and will undoubtedly be rated a 'Well legend when he calls it a day, however for sheer entertainment, quality, gallus-ness and a top mauser, Rab's yer boy. Always remember his debut in (I think) was a 3-3 draw with Aberdeen at home in a p*ssing down night game, he'd just signed from Hartlepool, and I couldn't believe what I was seeing in terms of driving into the opposition box, skinning players and setting up chance after chance. Other great McKinnon memories including him 'megging wee Joe Miller on several occaisions (surely the winger should be doing that to the full back?) and scoring a belter in a 3-2 win at Swinecastle in the mid 90s. I was behind the goal and living in Edinburgh at the time so good on soooo many levels, have never enjoyed an Edinburgh bus ride (wasny wearing colours so enjoyed listening to the moaning Jambos) so much. Aye, McKinnon (in my era) is the tap boy.
  23. +1. Had my son at his first ever game at FP today, and he was loving the drumming from the end of the East...keep it up guys, us boring auld farts do appreciate you, honest..
  24. Higdon, just ahead of Hateley who's really made the RB slot his own, and Law who's lung-bursting runs forward late in the game were a highlight. The big man won 90%+ of everything that went his way, played some great link up stuff and considering he's just back from injury, kept it going late on. John who?
  25. The test of a decent striker is when he's playing for an opposition team, and you genuinely fear he's going to score against you. Boyd had it with the 'Gers, Higdon had it with the Bairns and the Buddies, Sutton didny really. Good signing, now if we could only get Vadocz back in midfield......
