  1. Haven't read the statement and not going to.............now back to the game! I hope we beat them by more than 2 -1 I hope we gub them so that regardless of which Rangers they choose to be it's a record home defeat for any rangers in any form!!!!
  2. top of the league and undefeated and certainly room for some improvement..................Not too shabby to be sitting top knowing that we can do even better. Definately felt like 2 dropped points but prior to the game was feeling that 1 point would have been ok.
  3. Welcome smiddy!! and such good typing too!! are you sure that's you?
  4. Good luck to the lads tomorrow. Results went pretty well for us with Saturday's games. We also have a lot going for us and it seems nowadays that we have the bottle to take advantage of situations when handed the opportunity against other non OF sides. We are the only unbeaten team in the league, Aberdeen haven't scored in 3 home games this season, Fallon is out, Higdon is top scorer in the SPL, other than the cup game we seem to have the upper hand on them. See no reason for that to change tomorrow. In years gone by, having listed the above, I would be saying stick on defeat for the Well. Going for 3 points tomorrow. COYW!!!!
  5. Vic davidson ooooops someone already said him
  6. not sure how many but I know there are a few motherwell supporters in Austin. Went to Fado's ( fake irish pub ) to watch the league cup final against Rangers a few years back and there were a good few guys in the bar with Mothwewell colours on. So definately double fugures in Austin!
  7. definately makes sens that you need the manager sorted out before you can expect any players to committ.
  8. Luckily it's aberdeen loosing out on the low gate money and not us.
  9. i thought he was already signed with someone anyway? what happened?
  10. So how much money do we stand to make from the league cup? is there prize money for getting into each round? quarter final semi final fnal if this was queens park or clyde ( the teams above and below Rangers ) what we expect to see? whatever that would be, then that's what we should expect to see.
  11. was at all of those games including the Morton replay which i think was at Ibrox. I'm still not sure if Jumbo dived and headed the ball in for a goal or if he fell and ball bounced off his head LOL He was one of the guys where it could easily be either of those . Great games! EDIT: although Hearts texaco game second leg we were 1 up and got beat 2 -1 AET.
  12. agreed , i should have put "immediate" some poeple had us imploding from day 1. and i assume everyone was planning on having to make cuts and restructure budgets. pretty short sighted if they were not.
  13. I am also hoping that Celtic being in europe, plus a league cup run, will keeep their resources stretched and cause a few slip ups in the SPL for them. The more they slip up the more it will start to mess with their heads and the more other teams will start to smell blood. Seems like a lot of people were wrong about the financial melt down of scottish football and perhaps they may also be wrong about celtic getting the title for a christmas present, we can only wait and see how things transpire.
  14. While a win at ibrox has many positives to it, all of them are meaningless with respect to SPL position and european football. Our priorities must lie in taking as many points as possible from Abrdeen and celtic. i think the goal should be 6 points, good is 4 points, acceptable is 3 points, anything less then we have underperformed and need to work on improving over the next few games. For the league cup game I would not be averse to fielding a team that is not our starting 11. Excellent run out for our fringe players on the cusp of making it into the team. I certainly would be overcautious on using any players with knocks, they MUST be preserved for SPL. While not as important as the SPL games a win could lead to additional income for the club plus of course there is always added excitement of a good cup run. But again, the downside of a good league cup run is that it stretches our resources and may lead to us lossing out on income form european games next season. if it was my call, I would be making sure my key players were all going to be fit and ready to face Celtic on the Saturday. This approach does also have the advantage of taking the "emotion" out of the game and treating it with the level of importance that it is a league cup game against the team 4th in division 3 By treating the game as anything other than that, is a victory for the mass unwashed. We have already given way more attention than merited. Roll on the Celtic game!
  15. loooked kind of windy today? did that affect the game? Thought it was scrappy game but as always 3 points welcome however we can get them.
  16. I suppose players were still people back then and not the over paid petulant tantrm throwers that some of them can be nowadays. Very nice of him to do that
  17. have you been able to read them ok? i thought i was just pasting the links and you would follow the link and size appropriately to read. But i see now that the images are all there and parts dissappear when i enlarge the image? as long as u are able to read what i have been posting i'll just keep doing the same if not let me know and provide some hints for me to make it more readable
  18. Ah'll need tae hae a "rummage aroon ma drawers" this weekend i kept a scrap book that particular season but i know i have other stuff around too just not sure where.
  19. my uncle lived in stevenage so my mum and dad packed me on the overnight bus at hamilton and my uncle got me somewhere close to stevenage and i was able to ride with him on the spurs supporters bus to the first leg at white heart lane. Make no mistake, spurs were a good team and did not play their reserves!! then 21 years later i was able to travel back from texas and go to the '91 cup final with him. it was my uncle that wsa responsible for me supporting the well. Sadly missed now but lots of fond memories.
  20. here are another 2 for your reading pleasure v Bahia and V Flamengo
  21. Ok this is my first try at this kind of stuff so be patient. I hope I am pasting links to enable you to read some old motherwell reports from the texaco cup spurs game at fir park
  22. ...and either of those are aceptable as they should have little to no detrimental effect on our efforts in the SPL.
  23. agreed faddy already said no but i thought he would have been playing down south by now. for the most part don't care where our ex players go ............ as long as it's not to any of our rivals helping another team in the SPL get points. agree also that he would give the club a lift...........despite weeyins point, which is pretty valid, i think faddy would certainly get the place buzing even more and help us perhaps stay at the top. its one thing getting to the top, harder trying to stay there! also agree that top priority should be replacing jennings but that does not seem to be happening. We may just have to relay on one our existing players developing into that role. If we are not signing a jennings replacement then again perhaps faddy would give us more going forward so that we start to win games 3 - 2 4 - 3 instead of 1 - 0 . Either way I trust McCall and the board to be doing what's best for the club and will not grumble whichever way it pans out.
  24. One of my old favourites was ian Clinging. never see his name mentioned much on here at all for some reason. Hardly a pick on him but he could beat players and score goals and a local lad from wishaw ( i think ) did he ever play for anyone other than us?
