  1. When I made remarks on twitter about how flexi-ticket could be improved. I got rapid and informative responses.
  2. I'm with you on this. I'm at a loss as to what folk expect will happen if McCall goes and I think the level of criticism he has received over a relatively few poor performances -compared with Well teams under previous managers - is out of all proportion. Be careful what you wish for.
  3. I assume that Faddy, Clarkson and Pearson are still without clubs. Given performance in games we've played thus far, I'd be content to see any of them at Fir Park.
  4. As were lots of folk because Monklands would have been the closest maternity hospital. Look at number of players born in Lanark in past because of William Smellie Maternity or, more recently, numbers born in Bellshill. My eldest child was born in Inverclyde Royal but that doesn't mean she's from Greenock. Apologies for pedantry.
  5. I think the key actor in understanding the Faddy situation is Kenny Black. He was a member of the Levein crew that made the national team a joke.(in fact, I'm surprised he's not back at Swinecastle with the Maroon Moron). Not long after he returned to us, Faddy gave an interview in which he quite clearly explained the contempt that Levein had for him as a Scotland player, and how Levein never once contacted him during his period recovering from injury.
  6. Although his limited playing time restricted his contribution, I think Ainsworh and Vigurs had a far bigger impact in the games in which they played with Faddy and I think he linked particularly well with those two. Agree, entirely with previous remarks about how he tracked back and tried to contribute defensively. I, also, think he'd be an asset in European games.

I'm mystified at Vigurs being selected as Man of the Match by one of the sponsors for tonight's match. Whilst I acknowledge his contribution to one of our goals, I thought his absolute disinterest in tracing back - same as in Fulham match - left Hammell with far too much to do throughout and that, overall, he tried to take on one player too many on too many occasions and failed to make unselfish passes when required. I remember thinking on a number of occasions in second half of last season that both he and Ainsworth were more effective when Faddy was playing.
  8. Agree with those who point out the element of luck - of the draw, of refereeing decisions, of avoiding injuries to key players - in a series of one-off matches on road to winning cups. Our run of best of the rest in last three seasons is because we have achieved a degree of consistency over a programme of 38 games. I think criticism of our cup performances under SMcC is a little harsh: in 2010-11 season, we reached semi-final of League Cup and final of Scottish Cup and still made top 6. The teams mentioned as performing better than us in the cups haven't achieved anything like we have in league since SMcC joined us.
  9. Looks like a shrewd piece of business by the club and our refusal to bandy figures around makes good sense if we're still, as McCall suggests, looking to sign a replacement. Wish him well and look forward to see who Stuart unearths for us.
  10. I see that one of the football rumour sites is suggesting that Kevin McNaughton of Cardiff and ex-Aberdeen right back is on his way to Fir Park. He's 31 and has spent all of last season on loan at Bolton. Rumour site suggesting that Cardiff will sign Alan Hutton (also on loan at Bolton from Aston Villa) to replace him. However as McNaughton's contract runs until next summer it looks like a real long shot to me? Any views?
  11. Maybe the prospect of European football - no matter if it's only a couple of games - and the chance to get more game time and goals will be enough to tempt him to sign with a view to enhancing his reputation, demonstrating that he's "settled down" and moving on at end of next season.
  12. The EPL know that the Commission is determined to burst its monopolistic bubble. Hence it's spending mega-million on lobbying and legal experts to try and delay and frustrate all Commission's efforts. My mate works, directly, with EPL on this and has done for past 8 years so EPL is winning thus far but it's very unusual to beat the Commission in the long run.
  13. Or when the European Commission finally opens up the market for distributing EPL matches and providing the hardware to access them. The pub landlady in Portsmouth who accessed EPL matches via a Greek service was backed by European Commission when EPL tried to shut her down. it's only a matter of time until that particular day of reckoning arrives.
  14. My mate was chatting to Ainsworth's girlfriend at Parkhead match and she said that she was looking to move up here if Lionel got a contract. She said that he'd never been happier football-wise and was keen to stay at Fir Park.
  15. McManus interviewed in today's Herald and speaks very positively about time at Fir Park. He also remarked that there's no pint in haggling over salaries in Scotland as the difference in salaries offered by clubs is not significant enough to make any difference. He's content to stay at Fir Park because of how it feels to be there.
  16. C'mon, you can't leave the Ainsworth pre-contract one hanging without more info: which country? which club?
  17. My wife bought me a half-season ticket for Cooper Stand - I usually sit in PO'D. Since moving I haven't witnessed us being beaten at home - drawn with Aberdeen, beaten Partick Thistle, Hearts, Inverness Caley, Ross County and drawn with Celtic. I know that we lost (at home) to Killie but I couldn't get to that one. So, on that basis and given fact that I'll be at Fir Park on Saturday, I'm anticipating us winning, drawing at worst but not being beaten. Hope this isn't tempting fate.
  18. With stats like that, you don't need to be an Ainsworth fanboy to see that, overall, he has contributed well when playing. On top of that, he seems to have settled down at Fir park. I'd like to see him staying.
  19. Loved the occasion, the whole cup run and the result but didn't like the strip.
  20. I'm dead against dropping the band. It'd be like Celtic dropping hoops, Killie ditching stripes, Hibs ditching their combination of white sleeves and green body on strip. The band's a defining feature of the club and kit for me.
  21. I remeber all of that team. I, also, remeber b getting my nose burst by a ball hit by Dixie. I was sitting on wall at halfway line in what is now the East Stand.
  22. Nigel Clough confirmed as Sheffield Utd manager, so Stuart not going there. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24628417
  23. Or could it be this guy? Tom WILLIAMS Winger | Striker Joined The Magpies during the summer of 2011 from Evo-Stik One North side Clitheroe. Had trials with both Manchester United and Liverpool before signing youth forms at Wigan Athletic, where he progressed to the reserve team. On leaving Wigan he joined dropped into non-league football with Rossendale United and Bamber Bridge before joining Clitheroe. Despite being just 20, this season will be Tom's 5th in the Evo-Stik League and last season he finished second-top-scorer at Shawbridge. He plays predominantly on the right wing, but he can also play up front if required. CFC CareerAppsGoals 37 1Former Clubs: Wigan Athletic, Rossendale United, Bamber Bridge, Clitheroe
