  1. If we lost our remaining 5 games I still think St Johnstone would struggle to overcome our total. They would still need to win another 2 and draw one of their remaining 4. That seems unlikely, but not impossible. It would bring the play off spot into sharp focus though. Thankfully, I dont think we will lose all 5 games. Even a couple of shitfest draws should see us safe (I think!). It will be tight though, so Im not expecting to enjoy the next few weeks.
  2. Slim pickings this season. No one has really been a stand out. You could make a case for Halliday given he has been an ever present, had a few good games and has generally been better than anticipated, but thats a pretty low bar. I went for Slattery purely because the level he has got back to after such a serious injury has been impressive. That and he has scored some important goals that will probably keep us up. Young Player of the Year can only be Lennon. He has been a good bit short of his level from last year, but he has had a lot to contend with being in a porr team with no recognisable striker to hit with his passes and being played out of position quite a lot. Goal of the Year - went for Maswanhise v Rangers. Great take down, turn and finish. Felt like an important goal at the time. Surprised Stama's against Rangers wasnt included. One of the few cross ball/header combinations we actually executed this season. No clue who to vote for Womens POTY as havent seen them play.....
  3. 2 wingbacks with no pace in a 5 will only result in us being penned back in our own box. We have seen that movie plenty already this season. Watt has been absolutely gash since his return and shows little sign of turning it around.
  4. You need pace and delivery to play wingback in a 5. He has both of those. Defending is less important than in a 4 which is why I didnt pick him in my 4 at the back line up.
  5. If I was picking a 5 at the back though, I wouldnt be restricting myself to players under contract. I think in that system the best we have available really requires Seddon to be fit. Ox Balmer Gordon Casey Kaleta Seddon Miller Halliday Sparrow Slattery Armstrong We should be able to press from the front with that team and switch Paton for Halliday on 60 minutes. Koutroumbis for Kaleta and Wilson for Seddon. Watt for Armstrong. Get the game won early then see it out.
  6. Following on from the previous post, if I was picking a team under the remit of contracted players that will get the job done, Id go...... Ox Koutroumbis Gordon Balmer Wilson Miller Halliday Sparrow Slattery Maswanhise Armstrong But given Wimmer is unlikely to move away from a 5 at the back, and Casey isnt likely to be one of those that chuck it he could go........ Ox Balmer Gordon Casey Koutroumbis Wilson Miller Slattery Sparrow Maswanhise Armstrong For me the 4 at the back works much better with the players available.....
  7. The answer to that would appear to be to play the majority of players who are still under contract and do actually give a shit about the club. Question is, do we have enough quality within that group to get what we need?
  8. What happens in this one will, once again, very much depend on whether Wimmer will be ruthless enough to start wielding the axe on those who havent been performing for him, and give opportunities to others, in some sort of effort to solve the connundrum he has found himself in. We have enough players of sufficient quality in the squad to get the result we need. Im just not convinced he has identified who they are yet. I guess much of that will depend on who is fit enough to play. Having Gordon Kaleta and Seddon available would help. Although, given we had a clean sheet on Saturday he probably wont change the backline. Unfortunately that will limit what we can do in attack. Really hope Im wrong, but I foresee a same again type team selection and a rather dismal performance, scraping out a low scoring draw.
  9. Can certainly see Dundee doing ok post split. My point being that if they did they would be taking points off everyone else anyay, so wouldnt just be us under threat. Ross County and Killie would also be looking over their shoulder. I know I got the arithmetic wrong, but the premise is still the same.
  10. Aye, my bad. Shouldnt challenge my half arsed arithmetic late on a Saturday night! 😍😍😍
  11. As long as Hibs win tomorrow then I think we only need 1 win to be safe. Dundee and St Johnstone would both then need 4 wins from 5 to get ahead of us. Given that they would both need to take some of those points from Killie and Ross County to overtake us, it would need a pretty remarkable set of results for us to go down on 42 points.
  12. A manager with football coaching ability can always learn the Scottish game. A Scottish manager with limited football coaching ability is never getting any better.....
  13. I think its absolutely impossible to say what Winmer would do if we were to be relegated. He hasnt really been here long enough for us to know what kind of character he has. I dont think our board would sack him without giving him the chance to sign his own players and bring us back up. We would probably end up being more ruthless in that scenario and have a chance of moving on some of our under contract players who maybe wouldnt fancy the Championship, or indeed have clauses in contracts to allow them to seek other clubs. FWIW, I still think there's a decent chance of us making top 6. We dont deserve it, but then, can St Mirren or Hearts say different given where they are points wise? I get that % wise we are the least likely. But football often doesnt work out that way. If we do end up bottom 6 it will end up being very tight, but we do havr a starting advantage and 1 or 2 wins from the 5 would probably see us have enough to get us over the line. Regardless of what happens, it will just be nice to get this season out the way. Its be so shite for so many reasons.
  14. Give us blood & snotters! 😍😍😍
  15. Id like to see a return to high intensity, high ball wins for this. Lets get after Hearts from the off and get right in their faces. Yes, half of our players will be breathing out their arses after 60 mins but pick the team and subs accordingly and we can do this. It might not be enough to get the win in the end, but it will be a damn sight better watch than the shite we have seen the last 2 weeks! (Not to mention getting some positivity back into the support). Oh, and can we have Lennon Miller back in his proper position please. Boy looks lost in whatever formation we are attempting to play right now.
  16. Exactly. Which is probably why Barmack was so keen to "eliminate" the WS loan to the club which holds the security over the stadium.
  17. Craigan and some of the other pundits called it out on Sportsound on Saturday night. They were all unanimous in the fact it wasnt a red card for Balmer and Craigan and Kenny McIntyre called out Armstrong and some of the other Killie players for their behaviour during the Thompson incident. Whether that will make any difference with the appeal or any future conduct is another matter.....
  18. You therefore have to question the motivation of any "investor" who claims they can improve the club and make a profit for themselves. They are either deluded or lying. Neither of which will pan out well for us......
  19. Would have voted none of the above, but as that isnt an option I voted Casey as less shite than the rest. But that was pushing it a little.....
  20. That was totally unacceptable today. Im not sure what has happened to Wimmer, but for the second, maybe third week in a row, there was no intensity, no high ball wins, nothing to suggest that his coaching has turned the corner for us. The red card was a shocking decision, but if we are honest we were already one down and probably should have been 2 down. We showed no ability to get in behind them with 11 men so when we were down to 10, the writing was on the wall. To make no changes at half time was shocking to me, and when we lost the second goal from a poorly defended set piece it was game over. I was initially enthused by Wimmer coming in, but the last few weeks has me wondering whether he really does have something to offer, or whether it was just the new manager bounce which has now passed. The manager needs to be ruthless now. Those not performing need axed. He has a sufficient "picture" of the players to make the tough decisions. We are now in a dogfight. He needs to choose his dogs wisely.....
  21. With the greatest respect, Campbell is only 26 and if we dont need to pay a transfer fee to secure his services, there is no re need to secure a sell on for him. No different than signing any number of English lower league journeyman, as has been our want of late. Circumstances were not kind to him down south and although I wasnt that impressed with him when we played United, I still think he has sufficient energy and quality to do a job for us. He would be a significant upgrade on Davor imho. Regardless, I dont think the wages we are offering will be of any interest to him these days. Unless United dont offer him anything and other suitors are thin on the ground....
  22. Alan Campbell would be a great addition to our squad and exactly the type of player that would fit into Wimmerball. Whether he would come home on the wages we can offer is a different matter. I certainly wouldnt be pushing the boat out for him. We need to spend our limited budget more wisely than we have in recent seasons.
  23. This is the key for me. With the number of players we have under contract, some of whom we would proably like to move on, we are going to have to box clever. If we could move on some of the contracted players that would be ideal and give us more leeway to sign others back up. For me Balmer is a hothead and has had enough opportunity to see why Palace let him go. Koutroumbis is an interesting one as the one full game he has had, he has looked ok. But the fact he hasnt featured since would suggest he isnt in the plans. Nicholson, Stuparevic and Robinsons injuries are all a concern. Would probably move all of them on as I dont really see a future for any of them in a Wimmer team, but there are unlikely to be any takers until they are all back fit. The rest Id keep. Of those OOC, Id probably offer Casey, Seddon, Halliday, Paton and maybe Armstrong something. Casey will probably be away but the others are good enough to be in the squad, but that will rely on Wimmer identifying better players within our budget to increase the quality of the squad so that we dont end up with just the same starting 11 as this season. Some tough decisions to be made and we probably wont be able to move on everyone we would like or indeed keep those we dont want to let go.
  24. The new club board are apparently doing that. It was communicated during the WS agm that they believe that there are opportunities to grow the business within the current set up. The previous board did not, hence the cringey video and bending over for Barmack. If you want serious investment from an outside source, you need to show that you are a viable investment opportunity. It would appear that in the short term all efforts are being put into getting our house in order so that we are in a stronger position to make that pitch. At the very least it should help us to be a better version of ourselves.
  25. I think before this turns into a binfire, its important to stress that support for the Well Society and fan ownership doesnt have to mean that you can see no wrong in them or that there isnt anything that can be done better. Similarly, being pro investment doesnt mean that you think all investment is good. FWIW, I was a little concerned by the Society's change of position on investment in their recent pre AGM blurb. However, that point was addressed at the AGM and I left feeling more re-assured by the response. Its not that the Society Board or Club Board are turning their back on outside investment, they just think there is more that can be done within the club currently to grow revenue from within and put structures in place that will attract better offers of investment. That seems emminently sensible to me. I also dont think there is anyone on the WS Board or Club Board that think they have all the answers. I think anyone with vision or a particular skillset that could help the club progress in those areas would be welcomed. Hence my highlighting of the upcoming vacancies on the WS Board......
